It's a small spot with loud music, which kinda was overwhelming, and the people that were working were a bit abrasive. My girlfriend and I both agreed about the one worker being too much in our business- we just wanted to roam around and look, but it kinda made us wanna get out of there quicker than we would have, had we had the time to just look on our own. The person kinda pushed to get us a fitting room, which we didn't need- I was afraid to hold anything up from the rack to look at, because I didn't want a fitting room. They have lots of cool things in there, but also very pricey. $150 for a windbreaker suit? Not today. We went to the shop a couple doors down where they let us free roam and the prices were WAY more reasonable. We were happy to check it out, but would not go visit again. Maybe this is the "Geriatric Millennial" in me, but give me my space to look and on top of that, don't charge over $100 for a windbreaker suit.

Clockwork has been a huge fixture in the Middle Georgia skate scene for years with their Macon…read morelocation, and now they've opened a new location in Savannah which is really logical considering we have three colleges, many high schools, and thus a lot of skaters over here. I was very sad when PlainView closed up, so it's good to see another authentic skate shop open. And the Clockwork Savannah location has the ultra-clean, bright, look and atmosphere of the Macon store plus the same sense of style in its well-curated selection of sneakers--something the Macon store long has been known for, I mean, you here of people trekking down form Atlanta to Macon to cop new sneakers at Clockwork, so they're pretty infamous in that regard. They also have a decent selection of clothing from brands like Diamond, Thrasher, HUF, and now some really sweet tees from Welcome Skateboards. And of course they have lots of decks--including Welcome's great, somewhat odd, throwback vert-looking ones--and skate trucks, wheels, bearings and hardware. Their shoe selection includes Nike SB, adidas, Converse, and Vans for skating plus Asics and Saucony throw-back designs. The staff is really chill and friendly, too. Certainly a big and necessary addition to Savannah's growing youth culture scene--very glad they're here.

I was then escorted to the center of the store after I explained why I was there. I needed some good work out shoes and me being overweight this is always a touchy feat, no pun intended. I was NEVER treated differently because of my size and was immediately looked over by Lauren as she watched me walk and paid close attention to my gait and how my feet moved with my stride. She made me feel very comfortable and I was able to explain my situation and what my intentions were with my new shoes. She measured my feet and off she went to the back to then bring out 6-7 pairs of shoes. She explained a lot of foot/runner lingo and I kept up with most of it, not overwhelming at all and I was enlightened about a lot of important details pertaining to finding the right shoes. I was extremely impressed by the whole process!! They even brought my 9 year old daughter a mini bottled water and some fresh popped popcorn while she waited on us to get finished! How sweet!? Poor Lauren(petite dark hair) I even went back and forth between the last two pairs of shoes that I couldn't decide on, putting them both on probably three times each and walking around the store. She was so patient and kind with me. The whole time encouraging me to really pay attention to the relief of my pain in my left ankle(main reason I needed good shoes to begin with). Overall FIVE stars and honestly I will never buy shoes from another place again! This is my new go-to and I cannot WAIT to work out in the morning!

Parking is convenient, I was greeted with smiles and a warm welcome, and I enjoyed browsing their nice selections. Today some items are 50% off - making way for spring clothing. Den's is a local men's store supplying "urban" fashions--from everyday stuff to suits--aimed at…read moreAfrican-American customers. Most of their inventory is things like Phat Farm FUBU, and other popular brands of clothing but also a good selection of men's and boy's suits. The reason however that I became a customer was that they carried also a good selection of sneakers, including Converse hi-tops in all kinds of colors and in half-sizes. They also carry Puma, adidas, old-skool New Balance and other popular brands, but little in the way of Nikes. But the Converse were the best part: where else would you find bright pink or green Chucks in like a size 101/2 or 11? Interestingly, despite catering to a mainly African-American customer base, Den himself is Indian and there is another store further down Broughton Street also apparently owned by an Indian gentleman. How Indian immigrants got into selling urban fashion is beyond me but I have to wonder why you don't see these types of businesses owned instead by Black citizens as they seem to make a good profit. That's nothing against Den, he is a nice guy, but it seems odd these stores are not owned by members of the community they serve.
