Docking a few stars for the following reasons: - I asked for fresh strawberries and blueberries for the filling, but there was barely any fruit inside... - Cake design was nothing like i had ordered. I actually didn't notice how odd the design was until i got home and put the cake topper on (see photo) Maybe just go with a simple design. Lastly, don't try to pick up your cake earlier than the scheduled time. First time I've experienced a cake not being made earlier than scheduled pickup--I must be spoiled. I came by 2 hrs early (at 11am) when my pickup was at 1. They were still making the cake and said to come by 1. She mentioned they get backed up on weekends and don't have a lot of staff, so I get it. Came by at 2 just to make sure it was done. Called in on a Friday to see if I can get a cake on Saturday night for my birthday party. I ordered the green tea fruit cake to be picked up after 4 PM on Saturday, and it was perfect! Not too sweet, proportionate cream to bread ratio, and the fruits were fresh. On another occasion, this bakery also did my sister's birthday cake which was requested ahead of time with a specific aesthetic in mind (picture attached, name scribbled out for privacy sake). This bakery was amazing! When I asked my son what he wanted for his fourth birthday all he kept saying was an outer space astronaut cake. I bought my own astronauts for the top and told her all I needed was a simple purple, dark blue, and light blue swirl cake with some white flecks for stars and I'd add the cake topper. It was not was I was expecting from the name. I was expecting some bagels and traditional loaves of bread and maybe some baguettes. Instead, it was a Korean bakery with some Korean baked breads and pastries like you find at the local Korean markets. I did my research when looking for a cake for my sister. I live in Aurora and this bakery is close to the intersection of Iliff and Havana which is not hard to find, it's in the same plaza as the Stampde and OG. What I liked about the cake was the fact the it wasn't as sweet as other cakes, the frosting was the only thing truly sweet. I've received multiple compliments about the taste of the cake. The white bean paste pastry was my breakfast for the morning and the sweetness of the white bean slowed me down from eating it in one go. The cake itself didn't have much flavor and was dry, like it was frozen the night before. The chocolate cream inside was very thin and weak, and so was the strawberry jam. Stopped in to satisfy my craving for a solid red bean bun the other day, but I can't say that my tastebuds were satisfied. I purchased the whole red bean bun and the crumb bread, but I found the red bean bun to be rather sweet and a little odd tasting. The texture of the red bean inside didn't seem right -- the bun was soggy on the inside because of the way the red beans were prepared. It was a bit offsetting, so I moved on to taste the crumb bread. The crumb bread was okay, at best. The bread was on the drier side and was also on the sweeter than I expected. As much as I want to support this bakery, the critical person inside of me is making me think otherwise. I just can't say that I thoroughly enjoyed the two pastries that I had. read more

Since moving out here from east coast, I craved Korean pastries. I was pleasantly surprised to have found this place. I will say, its not a place to take a date to, but if you like Korean pastries to go, this is it. I prefer pastries from this location better than the other brand often sold in H-mart or M-mart. The difference is in the texture of the bread, moisture content, and the filling. I had found other brand to be dryer (not stale) or even over baked. Korean pastries are known to be very soft and mildly sweet. I've been told with the Colorado altitude and dry climate, baking well can be a challenge. NY bakery does very well in being competitive in quality with the Korean bakeries in East Coast as well as any I've tried in Korea. It's worth trying. Compared to baked good prices in VA or in CA, I think this place is very fair priced. read more
