I had to make several scheduling changes due to my mother's changing care needs and the care coordinators were able to accommodate. There was one time that they could not find a caregiver and did provide phone. I would say that the majority of the caregivers that they sent out were competent and my mom really liked them. The rest did not interact with my mom and just sat in the chair, saying nothing. One caregiver watched TV the entire night she stayed with my mom. I let the agency know and I asked them not to send those caregivers again. I was glad that we had access to caregivers but I think I may try to use another caregiver company if the need arises.

I hired them again in June but it took 3 tries for anyone to call me to get serviced reactivated. Staff had told me that Kaitlin would contact me - never did. To be honest, I was desperate and need home care services asap until I could get my mom into an Assisted Living facility. The first couple of caregivers were fine. I had lined up caregivers round the clock. There was one instance where my mom had to go to the ER for shortness of breath and was released later that afternoon. I called Comfort Keepers to make sure that a caregiver was coming later that evening. When the night caregiver did not show, I called and they told me that the caregiver was canceled because my mom went to the ER. No one let me know. I was livid and upset. They did find a caregiver short notice. Then one of the caregivers failed to change all of my mom's undergarments even though it was clear that she had an accident. So he basically left my mom in a wet pad and I had to change her. I honestly wonder if the caregivers have the proper training to help older adults who have various health issues. I would NOT recommend them to use for any of your loved ones. If your loved one needs round the clock care, I would recommend looking into respite care at Assisted Living facilities.

My 75-year-old mother underwent necessary brain surgery three weeks ago. Three days before surgery, she had a ground-level fall, tore her rotator cuff, and sustained a small fracture. Because the surgery could not be deferred, she proceeded as planned but required significant care at home afterward. She had been fully independent, and although she lives with my father, the caregiving needs were beyond his comfort level. I was able to help for a few days after her discharge, but it was clear they would need additional support for her to remain safely at home. The hospital nurses were wonderful, but my mom needed assistance even with basic tasks like repositioning in bed and using the restroom, as her left arm was immobilized. Our hospital care coordinator connected us with Amy, the client care manager for Family Matters, who met us at home right away. She performed a thorough evaluation and took the time to understand my parents' needs and preferences. Almost immediately, we were connected with KJ, the Director of Operations, who coordinated the caregiving schedule. She ensured an excellent match with caregivers and that coverage was consistent and reliable. Communication was seamless--KJ was always responsive and proactive with updates, and we never felt out of touch. My mom especially wanted to recognize her primary daytime caregiver, Maria. Even more challenging is finding caregivers you can truly trust during such a vulnerable stage of life. A very special thank you to Family Matters, and my father's caregiver, Sade. He is under hospice care with advanced dementia, and can barely speak. Sade is consistently patient, and kind, and gives me complete peace of mind whenever she's caring for him. Most importantly, she engages with him and makes him feel seen. This is in sharp contrast to other caregivers we've experienced who are often on their phones and treat him as if he's invisible. I'm also especially grateful for KJ who manages the caregivers and scheduling. While other agencies haven't taken the time to meet my father or me in person, KJ made it a priority to get hands-on training to fully understand my father's caregiving needs. Because of this, she's been able to step in to provide training and support which is a huge godsend given my limited bandwidth. She was rushed to the hospital and Marin Home Care has refused to give me her house keys, or tell me how they left my mother's house even with my legal right and now her house sits neglected, this has been going on for over three weeks. Initially they told me they did not think I deserved the key, and now they are telling me they don't have a key which is a lie since they had keys to the house for 8 years. Beware of this company, they are outrageously inappropriate and over step their authority. I have seriously never dealt with a worse company, especially when this is hurting my mother and me because I can't get to important information regarding her health from the house. I can't imagine why they are making this so hard on me and my mother.
