Mischa was a very protective girl of me, her momma, and of course her grandpa. She wasn't too happy about being there, and with being sick at the same time, she definitely wasn't her usual smiley self. Dr. Reyes and her staff made her feel very, very comfortable. I was so happy with the way they cared for Mischa. They treated her as if she were their own. Mischa suffered from several medical issues that unfortunately began affecting her quality of life. As hard as it was, her grandpa and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go.Saying goodbye to Mischa was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make. Bianca, one of the technicians, was there to help Mischa on her last day. She made sure Mischa was comfortable and cared for, while also answering all of our questions and making sure we were comfortable as well. Bianca took us into a private room with Mischa so that we could have some alone time with her during her final moments. She never rushed us. We were able to take all the time we needed to say goodbye and spend those last moments with our girl. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Reyes, Bianca, and the entire staff for the compassion, kindness, and care they showed Mischa and our family. Saying goodbye to our Baby Girl was heartbreaking, but knowing she was comfortable, loved, and surrounded by us made those final moments a little easier. This vet was wonderful until it wasn't; I will not elaborate on the circumstances that caused me to change vets but will give my basic overview below. I would say this vet is okay with normal procedures and basic care; anything more than that I cannot recommend them to anyone. If you have a serious concern/issue and use this vet, please seek a second opinion if you at all feel like your concerns were not addressed or something doesn't feel right. I wish we had; it may have saved our precious girl.

Everything went smoothly with check in with a nice waiting room. She then took us to the back and weighed her. She was very sweet to make sure my dog is comfortable throughout the whole visit. Found out it was an ear infection. Gave us her medicine and a shot of cortisone at a reasonable price I was originally expecting to pay! She does seem to be shaking her head but not as bad or often as before. I do believe tomorrow she will be back to her playful self tomorrow since she wanted to play right when we got home .She is able to sleep more comfortably tonight and I will too thanks to this hospital. We went to Alta Animal Hospital because they could fit us in on the day we called. We ended up waiting for over an hour and a half past our "appointment" in their cramped waiting area before they even called on us, then there was a lot of waiting in the exam room. When the doctor finally came in, he was pleasant. Then he said someone would be in to "present" the treatment plan and bill. Then the tech comes back in after a while and looks at me and my wife and says, "ok, who will I be *presenting* the bill to?" You would be absolutely correct if by now you are assuming they were fully intending to rip us off. For 6mo of flea medication (Simparica Trio), they charged $300. (Later on, I researched online and it should've probably been $200-$225). They also had several other medications for which they no doubt also completely overcharged us. Total bill was $1200 (!!). Front desk staff (seemed like doctor's wife or family member) was very curt in taking our payment as we left. Now, the Simparica Trio did take care of his fleas, and pretty quickly. However, they wanted us to come back for a follow-up appointment. When we arrived for that they charged us *another exam fee* and wanted us to pay another $500 for additional medications to continue to treat his skin conditions. We paid the exam fee and left. Today we took the dog to another vet for his worsening skin issues. This vet has a much bigger and nicer waiting room, did not make us wait an inordinate amount of time, had a friendlier staff, and was overall a much better experience. For medications (that I think will work this time!) and the entire visit, the bill was $365. Including a no-cost followup visit in a few weeks. It made me think back to the experience with Alta, and realize what an incredible ripoff it was all the way around.
