Knowledgable vet and good prices! A little unorthodox but I trust our pets with them any day.

I want to start by acknowledging that euthanizing a pet is already one of the hardest decisions a…read morefamily can make. We were in an incredibly painful situation, our dog had bitten our daughter in the face twice and needed to be euthanized for her safety. We had adopted him from a shelter, and finding a compassionate, affordable option was not easy. Shelters were at capacity, the SPCA quoted over $500, and other vets were similarly overpriced. We called Northpoint, received a price over the phone, and made the 45-minute drive from out of town, already emotionally drained. What we experienced once we arrived made a devastating day so much worse. First, upon arrival we were informed, for the first time, that we needed to bring paperwork from the shelter where we adopted our dog. No one mentioned this when we called. Staff attempted to contact the shelter themselves, said they couldn't reach them, and then told us they might not be able to help us at all. My husband had to get back in the car, drive to the shelter to retrieve immunization records, and return, adding significant time and stress to an already traumatic experience. Second, when we were finally seen, they quoted us a higher price than what we were given over the phone. They also attempted to add an urgent care fee, claiming we had been given an urgent appointment, which was not true. My husband had to push back just to get them to reconsider. When he mentioned the original price we were quoted by phone, staff told him there was nothing they could do. We were grieving. We were exhausted. We had already driven nearly an hour and a half round trip for paperwork. And Northpoint chose that moment to add surprise fees and dismiss our concerns entirely. It felt like they knew we had no other options and used that against us. I wouldn't wish this experience on any family already going through the pain of losing a pet. If you're in a similar situation, I'd encourage you to get everything, pricing and requirements, in writing before you make the trip.

Our first experience was with Greta in July of 2023. 16.5 year old Greta was giving us the heads up that she was ready to go. Dr. Gary came in and Greta went peacefully across the rainbow bridge. Greta's brother Wesley, made it to 17.5 years. Ands just has his sister. He moved on peacefully with the help of Dr. Gary. Bella. Our big girl. Still jumping in the couch and chasing the rc car all the way up to a couple weeks ago. In just three days. She stopped eating and was giving us those eyes that we have seen to often non the last year. I am sure Wesley was calling her to walk with him along the mystical canal. Bella. Also just short of 17 years. Not the most touchy feely girl. She came and laid down on the bed where Dr. Gary and I were sitting. All three are together now.

I said no, she already passed and I still had her body in my arms and was calling about cremation services and how much it would cost. The person on the other line went silent. I kept saying hello, hello for awhile, but realized they disconnected the call. We went to Cedar Veterinary instead and took her and paid for her cremation. Not a good way to handle a call after a person's pet has crossed the rainbow bridge.

Before coming, I'd suggest selling a kidney first. They only care about your money and not your pet. I was originally told it would be $120 for two baths, sanitary trims, and nails. I go in and they laid out a million additional fees and stated that they'd have to shave them because their undercoat was shedding out.. Not a big deal, I agreed to that. After they spent over 6 hrs there, I went to pick them up and was charged a bunch of additional fees for "behavioral issues". I asked what happened and they said one was anxious and moving around. I've been getting both dogs groomed regularly for 5 years and have always asked how they do. They have all told me that they were absolutely great but one gets anxious when separated. I told them that up front and they stated that they'd keep them together. When I showed up, they were both tied to a wall in separate rooms... I wonder why he was anxious? Then I get home and see that their toes are all bloody and chopped off. They also had nicks everywhere from the shears. After being there over 6 hrs, they got home and downed water so I'm sure they didn't have any ALL DAY. There wasnt any in the kennels or the wall that they were tied to. My dogs were also shaking like they were terrified when I picked them up. My dogs are very well behaved so I'd hate to see what they charge others who may not be. If I could give zero stars, I would.

My goals were to refine her obedience, stop leash pulling, and build confidence. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. Positives * My dog did gain a little more patience and became more confident around dogs at a distance. * These improvements are appreciated, but they do not justify the cost of a full board and train program. Concerns * Breed Bias: Aiyana often commented negatively about Dobermans, saying things like "This is why I wouldn't own a Doberman." For someone advertising all-breed training, this was unprofessional and discouraging. * Ear Care: Since my puppy is still posting her ears, I asked to take her home on weekends to do it myself. Aiyana declined until week 3, when I found her ear had been wrapped so tightly it cut into the skin. On another occasion, her ear was bleeding and the glue was completely dried out. When I gave feedback, instead of handling it professionally, she became defensive and refused to continue ear posting on any other dog as if she is doing a favor. * Training Regression: Instead of improving, my dog regressed. She used to know the difference between sit and down, but came back ignoring sit and defaulting to down. Leash pulling was not addressed -- I was simply told to "use a prong collar," even though she had walked nicely without one before. * Reliance on Ecollar: I have no issue with ecollars when used properly, but this training relied almost entirely on constant pressure. Without the collar, my dog would not listen at all to her. That is not effective or sustainable training. * Shocking Statement: At one point, Aiyana even told me, "I cannot do anything if a dog acts a certain way with someone else." Hearing that from someone calling herself a professional trainer was unacceptable. * Professionalism: She frequently reminded me that she had given me a discount, as if that excused the lack of progress. Sessions were delayed and if I arrived a little late due to her schedule changes she would blame me (we also have work and things to take care of and the road time, i am 40min away from her, i also never had the problem to go back to her anytime that worked), and I never received a proper recap or hand-off at the end as after i communicated about her ears she said she is uncomfortable working with us now . Final Thoughts While there were minor improvements in patience and confidence, the main goals of obedience and leash training were not achieved. My dog returned with ear injuries, regression in commands, and unreliable training that relied entirely on tools instead of teaching. I gave her time till even after the board and train being finished to wait for our recap session because maybe just maybe something would change . Which wasn't given because i gave my concern on my dog being hurt and her material not being taken care of . I wasn't blaming her -- just asking for more attentiveness. This program did not meet the level of professionalism, communication, or results I expected from a board and train. For anyone considering training services, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a trainer who provides consistent progress, safe handling, and clear communication.
