Our kids were in their pre-K program, and we were impressed by what they were doing during the year. We were even more impressed after the kids "graduated". At their kindergarten orientation (for the parents), we were given a list of things that the kids would know by the end of the year. The Lucas Ave. Montessori pre-K program essentially taught our kids the entire kindergarten curriculum. In other words, our kids have a great start on their education, thanks to the Lucas AVe. Montessori.

I am going to preface this by saying I am a member of the church where this child care is located,…read moreso I already knew the director. I sent my special needs daughter this past week to the summer camp they provide and it was the best decision I could have made. Despite never having to care for a diabetic prior to this the staff was very accomadating. I did some prep work myself making cheat sheets on what to do for her and I was always a phone call away if there were any questions. The kids were wonderful to my daughter, (as a mom of a diabetic you always fear that kids won't be nice). Every day my daughter didn't want to come home, and because she did so much putting her to bed was a breeze. Thank you Miss Princess, Miss Cathy, Miss Chelsea, Mr. Jamal, and Miss J for all you do. All being well Ana will be back next year!!

Her son is wonderful and had it not been for her presence we would not have left. Each time she was there, my son did not even want to get out of the car. I was never comfortable leaving him for class when she was there and would always stay and watch. She was never that horrible to my son since I was there watching her but would constantly confront me asking what was wrong with him! The way she talks to the children is abusive and at times boarders on assault. I cannot believe this place is still open....

Once we decided to come here, we began to search for things to do for a few hours and settled on this great zoo next to a great park by the same Forsyth name. Although it is not an all-day excursion, it's a nice way to spend an hour or two looking at the various animals and flowers. Food kibble is available to purchase for a quarter and the kids will love feeding goats and peacocks and pheasant and all other manner of animals. Fish and turtles and birds and an iguana share space with an alpaca and a pair of pigs and rabbits. Most everything appears to be funded by private charity and well-kept by a crew that cuts the grass and maintains to flowers and the animal quarters. Some shade trees do an excellent job at beating the hot sun and various benches or tables allow you to take a load off your feet and relax. There is a lending library in a weather-proof box that is sure to be a hit with the local kids. When in the area, please make sure to stop in and enjoy this zoo and adjacent park.

I can't believe I forgot to write this review!…read more What a great little zoo with wonderful staff! My husband and I came here during a visit to see our Aunt and we decided on the zoo as a way to spend the day. We went earlier in the year when it was still cold, but this was a fantastic day of strolling and there was practically no one there so we got to enjoy the quiet. The zoo itself is very well kept and small, but the perfect size to walk around and enjoy the scenery and variety of animals. I love that it is a campus where students come and help and learn and it is a requirement to do so. I wish I had that opportunity! This zoo is so organized and it was lovely to see specialized animals like red pandas, arctic foxes, and lemurs. We even got a chance to see a new baby lemur that had been recently born! What a great place to visit and was a perfect activity during covid and wonderful for any type of weather. I am looking forward to going back when it's warmer!

Our visit was on a winter day, so we weren't expecting it to be the best day to view the animals. It was not at all bad. A lot of the animals were out, bearing the elements. The staff is consistently professional, with my horse's welfare their first priority. I am actually comfortable leaving on vacation, knowing they will keep a close eye on him even if I'm not there every day. I also get high-quality instruction as my horse and I advance through the dressage levels. Once you get past the basic levels of dressage, it's difficult to find quality instruction outside of a full-training barn. But, I own a horse for me to ride, not for some trainer to ride. I am not interested in a "leave your horse and your checkbook" situation. At Southlands, Allison King is doing a wonderful job of helping my horse and I work toward FEI, while I ride and train him myself. Clinicians and shows right on the farm add to the learning and the fun. The barn is kept clean, tidy and safe. Footing in all three rings is excellent and well maintained. I can do a five mile trail ride right on the property. And huge bonus--the heated indoor arena makes NY winters much more bearable.
