I went to New Moon yesterday for the first time and the attendant at the cashier's desk was cold and unfriendly. I placed my order and gave her my money and there was no thank you . I took my food from another women who seemed much better, offering a smile as well as a thank you. In order three general tso's chicken lunch special which came with a soda. Once I opened the dish the pork fried rice was very dark, almost like burnt rice. My sons and I ate the dish and I commented how I thought it wasn't as good as another Chinese restaurant we order from called Profit. I went to bed and I was sick all night from that food. Haven't tried out a lot of Chinese place here in NYC because I always feel like the outside doesn't look quite sanitary and I'm always thinking that there must be something cheaper. Either, way ordered this place on Uber Eats and the food was actually pretty damn good. I ordered the Singaporean Mei Fun which is my go to order as I love the curry flavor of the noodles in general. This placed makes it pretty well as they had a ton of ingredients in the mei fun and I especially liked the thick curry flavor that was all over the noodles. Also, their portion sizes were huge as I could easily split this into 2 meals if I don't add my own vegetables to the mix, 3 meals if I do. Overall, not a bad place to get Chinese food at all and I will definitely come back to try more of their different dishes. Their vibe is like a Chinese fast food takeout place and the menu certainly had those items but then they also have cooler items (like Singapore Mei Fun that's my fave) and tastes better than Chinese fast food. We ordered a full tray of vegetable fried rice, and half trays of beef + broccoli, Chicken Lo Mein, and General Tso's chicken. They gave FULL portions. The trays were filled to the top. Some places you go and order crab rangoon, you just eat wonton and very small amount of filling inside. Love the fried dumplings. Seasoning wasn't overpowering. Some restaurants use too much ginger in the meat stuffing, you don't even taste the meat. This was really good. Chinese eggplant in garlic sauce came steaming hot, very tasteful. Pro-tip: download the app called Beyond Menu which is the same $0 delivery fee and $10 minimum. Been looking for a good, reasonable price American Chinese place and unfortunately this isn't it. I ordered their lunch special Sesame Chicken with white rice and an egg roll. They also sent a free fortune cookie, which I love them but it was unfortunately stale. The egg roll was pretty standard and fried really well but even with duck sauce there was no real flavor to enjoy. The Sesame Chicken was cooked ok, it wasn't as crunchy as I like/expected but was solid. With the broccoli being soggy the meal really lacked crunch. In appearance, some grains were still completely white. The texture was hard and no flavor. It tasted like old leftover white rice that they used to make fried rice. The one broccoli was crunchy. Ordered delivery which came in about 20 minutes flat across town. I settled on ordering the General Tso's Chicken, usually one of the standby dishes I would typically order at any Chinese restaurant. The actual meat itself was great quality and a great portion, plus the fresh veggies made the dish really stand out, but there was something a little bit off about the sauce that I just didn't enjoy.
