Been meaning to try this place for the last three years and finally had the opportunity as I had a hankering for ribs. Nice, simple place with its own parking lot. My wife and I split a full rack and two sides. I know they have a nice looking smoker in the back of their property but the ribs didn't show any signs of smoke either visually or taste. They used a St. Louis cut that reminded me of a slow cooker recipe. Very tender and fall off the bone but lacked a good rub seasoning. Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils is the style you can expect. The two sides we chose were Mexican corn and green beans. Neither were memorable. Quality was not impressive. - brisket was so dry, had to drench it in BBQ sauce just to choke it down. - sausage was ok, but not exceptional - bologna slice was pretty thin ( had to double check to make sure it was not Oscar Meyer ), had no smoke flavor to it. the only thing that made it better was, when they added the pinto beans to the plate, the juice spilled over onto the bologna. Turnip Greens, definitely came from a can that was heated on the stove. If you are expecting fresh greens- you will be disappointed. The cornbread, was 2 pieces of soggy pan fried "pancake style" "cornbread" That were cold. There were 2 bottles of house BBQ sauce on the table. 1- spicy 1- sweet They both tasted the same, with the spicy having a little "tang" to it. There was honestly nothing spectacular about this visit. Drove specifically to try this place. Definitely would not make the drive again to eat here, and don't think I would eat there, if I was local. In total for the above........ $37.00. My recommendation- skip it. 2 friends and myself stopped here for a quick lunch because nobody knew what we wanted. Upon entering the cute diner we were greeted and told to sit wherever we wanted. Once we were seated we were promptly brought menus and asked for our drink order. We ordered Sweet Tea as this is the south. Upon bringing us our drinks our order was taken. I have eaten here before when it was Blue Moon BBq. It changed ownership and is now New Moon BBQ. Now they also serve tacos and Mexican food as well. For this review, I had BBQ plate. The BBQ is good. They have their own authentic sauce, i think they make that too. Sides were all good and the Hoe Cakes are as well. I will be back again. This is my first time trying them and I was very pleasantly surprised. The brisket is amazing! So tender, just melts on the tongue! The ribs were tender and moist. The pulled pork was a pretty dry. But that's almost to be expected, as pulled pork does not have much fat. A healthy dose of their sauce fixed it. Most of their sides are pretty standard and basic. I wanted to try their broccoli casserole, but unfortunately, they didn't have any for some reason. The turnip greens were fantastic, highly recommend. Even their cornbread pancake (which I normally don't like) was really good, soft and a little sweet. I'm glad I didn't listen to those nonsense reviews and gave this place a try. As a guy from Memphis, I take barbecue pretty seriously and I can tell you this was great. Big portions, good food, I'll be back for sure. WARNING though, their spicy bbq sauce is VERY HOT! Heading up to the Roller Derby at the Wilson County Fairgrounds, I searched the internet for a good local restaurant, found this place and was very satisfied. Service was so fast, I did not have time to sip my beer before the food arrived. A half rack of ribs and two sides was plenty for this boy. I've been watching different BBQ shows on TV talk about how ribs should be done. Mine were not falling off the bone, but stayed on the bone just long enough to get them in my mouth. There was a nice bark on them and I enjoyed the sauce as well. The menu did not lie when they called the sides home made. The slaw and potato salad were great. So was the cornbread. One very minor service issue was that they forgot the extra butter I ordered. Decor is great! I especially liked the soap box derby car, the hubcaps on the men's room ceiling and all the local historic photos. I'm not often in Lebanon, but when I am, I will try my best to check this place out again. A great value with great food and home town atmosphere. read more

I think the first clue that this is not a barbecue joint even though it's a decorated like one is that they really feature tacos and Mexican food. The barbecue was very dry. They have two kinds of sauce, and one is very very sweet with some spices in it, and the spicy one is so spicy that you can't taste anything after you've had it in your mouth. Got the turnip greens which I liked. What can you do to turnip greens. But I also got the steam broccoli which must've been steamed sometime last week because all of the florettes were gone and they were just the stalks of varying degrees of tenderness, they were not chopped up, it was very disappointing. The staff is not very good. Certainly we were a big imposition. They serve flatbread cornbread that is really out of this world. You can put the dry barbecue in it and put mayonnaise on it and it's wonderful. This is just because someone in your party. insists on going. I don't recommend it. read more

Absolutely amazing customer service and great brisket! We accidentally walked into this restaurant 10 mins prior to them closing without realizing it until after ordering! You'd have thought we showed up as they first opened with the level of amazing customer service and fresh quality of food! I'm so sorry to the staff for being "those people" who show up at closing but so everyone knows we were out the door 5 mins after they officially closed and are so thankful for such a great meal during a crazy long day!
