I went with the small size grinder, and without seeing the large side-by-side, I could not have told you what size I received. Half of my sub made for a good leftover lunch the next day. Other members of our party had a chicken gyro, and a salad with tuna. The combination of Greek and Italian items on the menu allowed for substantial choices for everyone. My only quibble was that I did not find ice water available to have with my meal. All the beverage choices seemed to be bottled from a self-service refrigerator case, and single use bottled water is something I will go out of my way to avoid. New London was a pleasant place to eat - they have ample seating to the side of the counter where customers place their orders. read more

We ordered pizza from this establishment for dinner and found our experience very disappointing. Based on all the information we found online, we ordered the New London Special, which was supposed to be all veggies. When we got home the pizza had 2 types of meat plus veggies. When my husband called to try to get our order corrected, we were told that they are not responsible for the fact that the websites were incorrect and did not offer to correct the order. In our party of 4, 2 people did not like the crust, one did not like the pizza. Needless to say, we were greatly unhappy with our experience and with the customer service. read more

I decided to go here today for lunch with my friend and leaving I was very disappointed. Upon leaving, I came to the conclusion that New London Style Pizza is very hit or miss nowadays. I state this because sometime the pizza is great but other times it is not, very inconsistent. This time, the pizza had a little amount of sauce, the pizza was over cooked so the crust was way too hard. I should have trusted my gut when I saw what it looked like on the plate. I was driving and ended up in the Acton area for lunch and decided to check this place out since it had good reviews. I'm not too crazy about pizza places. I was hungry and I wanted to pick up a grinder. It looks like a nice Greek mom and pops business. I ordered the steak onions and mushrooms with peppers with the biggest bottled water available. The people were friendly. The grinder was good. I don't know about you but I always put ketchup on my steak and cheese. The sandwich was good and service was good. I have not been here in years. Double digit years. Needed a place to eat between horse back riding and skating. Needed fast. Needed real food. Not fried. Not sugar. So decided to give it a try. In addition to pizza they have a full menu of subs, pasta, fried food items, salads. Order at the counter. They yell out when your food is ready. Just hope you are the only order of ziti marinara or be prepared to arm wrestle for your food! I think the gentleman behind the counter was new. He didn't seem to catch on that we were ready to order. Strike 1. We ordered our food but no effort was made to consolidate the order. The hot dog came up a good 10 minutes before the pasta. Strike 2. The pasta was a special. So I was a bit surprised that it took so long to come up. I'm not sure how it was cooked. I think it was in the oven? Some of the noodles were hard and dried out on the edges. Kinda like how they get when baked. Weird. Then the marinara sauce had no seasoning. Just tomato flavor. Strike 3. The place was cheap enough. Dinner for 2 including 2 bottles of soda was under $15. But It wasn't worth $15. My kids love this place because it is close to school and the slices are affordable. They also like the salads. There is plenty of room inside and out for dining. The staff is always friendly. I am less impressed than they are. In fact nothing that I have eaten from here has been over the top good. The meatballs are rather bland even with the sauce. They immediately remind me of the frozen heat and eat meatballs you buy in the grocery store. The Buffalo wings are also disappointing. They are breaded and dunked in a mild hot sauce which makes the end product soggy and kind of gross. Four stars awarded because of mixed reviews with my family and they are very friendly. Order grilled cheese sandwiches and tuna melt toasted. Tuna melt was great! Tasted awesome! But not much tuna in it. Most places pack the **** outta a Syrian pocket. This pocket wasn't even that big. 3 stars for that! On the other hand..The 2 grilled cheese on wheat were the most tasteless things. The bread had no flavor at all. I called and spoke to a manager or owner, told him the bread is awful and tasteless. I asked what brand of bread is it. He said Gold Medal. I've never had s bad grilled cheese in my life. This is crazy. I asked him if I could get something else and he said he'd have to charge me since this was my problem not like he had made a mistake. I was shocked. Most places want a happy customer in this world. Not New London I guess. I offered to give them back too. Then I asked him to have a slice of that bread himself. I can't believe I ate the whole thing!! A whole 10" with pepperoni, 'shrooms and sliced garlic that is :) Yeah, it was that good and I'll tell you why... the crust was chewy with a bit of a yeasty tang... the cheese was a little burned on the edges and reminded me of the white cheddar on pizzas I had in college. Also, the toppings were delicious, fresh cut mushrooms, non-greasy pepperoni and that charred garlic was awesomely tasty!!! I've been coming here since my kids were in elementary school, which was many, many years ago. New London has always been a staple for little leaguers, soccer celebrations, and high school footballers. It's steady, familiar, and constant. The food is average pizza shop stuff, no more no less. I've never left here disappointed and have never left here excited either. The pizza is ok, the subs are ok, the pasta dishes are ok. The salads are actually pretty good with fresh ingredients. The employees are friendly if not a bit stoic. What I really don't like is the condition of this place. They obviously haven't put one cent back into the business. The restrooms are gross. The ceiling is gross. The booths are gross. It looks like 1975 inside except back then it was new. Now it's dated and dirty. I find this very insulting. This is our go-to pizza place. They can go through periods of inconsistent quality, but even on an off night, the pizza is pretty good. When they're on, it's bordering on amazingly good. Our favorite is the eggplant and spinach pizza. Fresh veggies in both cases -- spinach is underneath the cheese and plentiful, and the eggplant is cut in wedge slices and breaded and deep-fried ... um, YUM. The kids love the chicken fingers, which are real chicken (not pink slime) and super tender. The spaghetti is great, portions are huge. Comes with fresh soft Italian bread. As a couple other reviews mention, the Pizza isn't exactly DELICIOUS, but it's better than a lot of other pizza. I really enjoy their sauce. If you're sensitive about cheese though, avoid their pizza, as it's a little chewy or whatever. Besides that, I've had a shit ton of food from there, from their sandwiches to their pastas. There's nothing fancy about this place, as it is a pizza place. The pizza is pretty good when it's fresh but if you reheat it to eat later it's worse than tasting greasy cardboard. I've had a couple different sandwiches and they were pretty good. Sandwiches are made to order and very fresh, I'd recommend any of the hot sandwiches. The service is meh.. although my husband frequents there a lot and they are very nice to him. They just aren't that friendly to new faces, but maybe it's just the area that's like that. Lunch time is a little hectic and you have to listen for your order to go and get it if you are waiting for it. They have a great variety but their prices are a little expensive. Why is this place still open? It has been around for decades; I stop in every 5 years hoping for better management and quality food. It's mediocre at best and expensive at that.
