Ordered a sub and, unfortunately, it had only two thin slices of meat, a few pieces of cheese but lettuce was overly abundant. While the bread was fresh, the overall sandwich was disappointing. They seem to skimping on the meat....because I travel around, I eat subs a few times a month and when the sub is cut in half, you can see the quantity. Walden Italian Kitchen is definitely at the bottom of providing a reasonable portion for a $12 sandwich. I suggest they add a few more slices and people would come back knowing they get their money's worth. read more

Very friendly staff, service was great. But having grown up in New York, where any sandwich is a meal, I was mightily disappointed by the $10 'Northerner Prosciutto'. I mean, this thing was like a school lunch slapped togesther by an ex-convict who is hung over and hates his life. Look at it. Pathetic. The bread was terrible, and what is that, one piece of old prosciutto? I couldn't decide if it was just old ham. Gross. Pleasant pizzeria with large selection of subs and other items on the menu. Clean; friendly staff. While my sense was that food is generally good, my cheeseburger sub was a bit dry; the meat was dry and overcooked; it lacked enough condiments like lettuce and mayo for a hearty moist sandwich. I found the attitude of the owner interesting - when the customer walks up to the counter to order, picks up his order from the counter, and clears his own table, no tip has been earned. There is no service. In past times, tips were given at the end of the meal for services rendered. More and more fast food places are adding the tip as part of the electronic card payment at the beginning of the process, like adding unearned costs to the product. It gives the owner more profit and the cost of already soaring food higher pricing with no added value. In our party, the owner delivered the plate to our table just 5 feet from his counter for the patron that added a tip to his bill, but put the plates of the other patron who did not tip upfront on the counter and did not alert them that the plates were ready for pickup. The owner, whose salary has nothing to do with good attitude and service, seemed to be making a statement of his not receiving a tip. He had no other customers to look after. I would go back to the restaurant for its quaintness, but was not impressed with the messaging sent by the owner. read more

Ordered 2 Walden Salads with chicken, was served without the chicken and once pointed out received some pushback (waiter said that we didn't order it with chicken and made it seem like it was our fault and a total inconvenience to grab what was ordered). I'm searching for the best pizza around the Concord area including Bedford, Acton, and maybe Lexington. The pizza at Walden Kitchen was unremarkable. It's not bad, but it's also not very good. If I had to limit myself to West Concord, then I would choose a pizza at Walden Kitchen over Dino's. However, if I lived in West Concord and wanted good pizza, then I would head to either Sweet Tomatoes (just over the Acton/Concord line) or to New London Pizza in Concord Center. The pizza at Walden Kitchen was crisp, but pale in color - lacking any sort of leopard spotting on the crust (they should try turning up the oven temperature). The sauce, cheese and sausage topping were standard fare. Here's my current (sausage) pizza ranking around the Concord, MA area. I'm going to rank these pizzas using the one-bite pizza review scoring 1-10. For that scoring: 9's are best in class pizza anywhere, 8's are worth driving to, 7's are very good local pizza, 6's are okay because they're convenient, but they're not my favorites. 6's will be Yelp 3 stars, 7's will be Yelp 4 stars, and 8's will be Yelp 5 stars. In my opinion, I haven't had a pizza in the Boston area that I would rate a 9. I've been going to this place since they first opened in the early 2000s. Growing up in town, we got take out from this place all the time from when family was in town, or a random Tuesday night. Pizza is the best around in my opinion. Sandwiches are good, big variety of pizzas and pasta, good salads...rolls rival those of Bertucci's. Good prices. My only complaint is they stock Pepsi products-- which just don't for it for me-- end up getting a Coke at the convenience store down the street. Minor issue though! read more

I work very close to this restaurant and we order as a group several times a week. Food quality is good, food handling is bad. You will get what you ordered about 50% of the time- wrong dressing for salads, missing ingredients on subs etc. is very common. I went here with a coworker for lunch. Ordered at the counter. I wanted to pay the bill for both lunches. I told my coworker I had this and to please put away her money. I proceeded to give the cashier my credit card. The cashier at the register actually had the audacity to say "well I would prefer the cash". Business is business. My paycheck automatically goes into my bank account, at my company this is the choice. Tried it for the first time, as I work and live close by. I tried to order a broccoli/garlic calzone, and was told "no, we don't have that". You have broccoli and garlic, but cannot make that? Thank you Walden kitchen for the wonderful meals sent to Emerson Hospital during the Covid pandemic tonight on Friday, April 17. Honestly I'm on labor and delivery for the next 72 hours and I was getting a little hungry and a little "hangry" about the slim pickings when just about a dozen prepackaged meals appeared from Walden kitchen. It truly brought me to tears. I had to sit down and say thank you before eating because it just warmed my heart. We are open for business here on labor and delivery and safe and busy, yet it is still exhausting with all of the new social distancing and guidelines and extra care being taken. We will all get through this but it sure feels a heck of a lot better when there's so many wonderful people out there rooting for us. We've been back about three times now, most recently last night. I stand by my earlier review. Every time we go, the salad is fresh and the vinaigrette dressing is fabulous. Their garden salad is better than at many much fancier restaurants and I am famous for my own home-made vinaigrette dressing -- theirs is as good or better than my own, really! Veggie pizza is crispy crusted, loaded with veggies, including fresh tomatoes, fresh mushrooms, spinach, thin slices of crisp eggplant, olives -- YUMMMM! I love the quality and value, cleanliness and neighborliness of this small gem of a pizza place. Must try pasta next -- they offer shrimp scampi, seven!! different chicken pasta dishes, Picatta, Marsala, Cacciatore, Calabrese, etc. This is a delightful little place!! read more

Big fan of Walden's. Never had their pizza, but have had their pasta quite a few times. Big portions and a good price. I'll definitely come again for a quick pasta fix. The staff here is great. I got a meatball sub here, unfortunately I burned my mouth on the first bite killing my ability to taste....it smelled so good I couldn't wait. curses! Smell, awesome. Really liked the buffalo wings (they actually serve the hot sauce on the side, so it's like fried wings with a hot sauce dip). Very friendly service. I've eaten here many times with my boys. My youngest teen typically orders a single slice of cheese or veggie sub. My middle son always got their marinated steak tip sub, and I get the steak tips on a salad. Their steak marinade is very tasty. They remodeled this place several years ago, the wall are now bright mustard yellow wash. It does look like an Italian eatery but it is owned by Greeks. They are not very willing to donate to the community events. They are a popular place for lunch and dinner in West Concord. read more

I'll keep it short and simple. The prices are good for the amount of food they give you. So far I've had the Meatball Sub and a small pizza, and the meatballs rivaled my grandmother's and the pizza had a nice thin crust, the toppings were perfect (not too much or too little). It wasn't at all oily. The locals obviously enjoy it as the staff seemed to have memorized their orders and special requests. I might be back weekly if I didn't have to watch my diet. read more

I have had zero luck in Concord today. After leaving a nail salon because they wanted to use non-sanitized tools on my nails, I headed over to what has been one of my favorite eating spots for years. As I was telling the young girl at the counter my order, the owner/chef was behind her- I watched as he got salad dressing on his hand while filling their salad counter and he LICKED it off-heard I was ordering a salad-and proceeded to get my salad out without washing his hands. I made an excuse to leave because I was so caught off guard. If this is what's happening in front of me, what the heck else is going here? I do hope the owner sees this so that he cleans things up. I can't believe people like this place. When we were there they were changing the oil, so any fried foods were a half hour wait - which seems really excessive (especially during lunchtime). The pizza our table ordered was visibly oozing with grease. Husband and I got two pasta dishes, neither of which we liked (shrimp scampi and some special I can't remember since I only ate a couple bites). Both had mushy pasta and sauces with dull flavors.
