Jesse was my masseuse and he was extremely professional and personable. I had made an appt for the 60-minute Swedish massage and caught myself almost drooling a couple times! The entire massage felt amazing. I did have some knots in my left shoulder area, where Jesse said he was using more pressure than he would in a normal Swedish massage. He said he was doing this to relieve the knots and to let me know if it was too much to handle. I let him know that I knew I needed it and to continue and thanked him for the explanation. I will most definitely be back. Thank you!

Then she had the audacity to demand a larger tip. She talked on the phone and left the room MULTIPLE times without adding the additional minutes to make the full 60 minute massage I paid for. If the massage had been out of the world amazing I still could not have overlooked the sketchy setup with the doorbell and the woman's dual role as a hostess and disinterested masseuse.

Upon driving in , the valet and entrance was great and really nice staff. The entire spa area was clean, great helpful staff, and there was all the the things you need to get ready , lots of lockers, multiple showers , and a lounge room as you wait for your massage. Champagne is offered. There's no need to select a "package " to have sparkling wine offered to you with a massage such as other hotels in or certain hotels in the county north of Santa Barbara. (You have to pick a "special package " just to have champagne and pool access") this place has a hot tub/jacuzzi, pool access, lounge area in the roof top if you want or just hang out in the usual lounge area with little private seatings to relax in. It's quiet and honestly the best in the area for spas. Definitely I'll be returning to this spa next month to make up for my horrible experience on my birthday where I had gone elsewhere! In other words, if you want to relax and be pampered. This is the place to go ! Run and book it!

Worst Spa Experience EVER!!!…read more I had purchased a spa experience at Goodland for my mom's 60th birthday. For starters, when we showed up, there was a loud DJ party going on by the pool just outside the spa, so the loud music didn't create a relaxing environment with all the noise thumping through the walls. As for my experience, I had ordered the hot stone massage, but the masseuse forgot to use the stones. Additionally, he couldn't get his music to come on to cover the loud music outside because of connectivity issues. He was futzing with his phone for 15 minutes, and then cut that time out of my 50 minute spa experience. It also made us both feel stressed out because it was frustrating. Plus, I was lying there naked while he was trying to figure it out, which adds an additional layer of awkward. As for my mom's experience, her masseuse talked incessantly about her own health problems during my mom's entire treatment. Usually one expects a quiet and relaxing experience during a massage, not to be bombarded with someone's issues. Plus, who talks during a massage?? I've never had a masseuse do that? My mom felt really awkward because she didn't want to be impolite by telling her to be quiet, so she just laid there hoping she would stop eventually, but she didn't. I could even hear the woman talking from my treatment room next door. Afterward, I called the hotel and corresponded with a manager named Mindy who promised to "make me happy." I said I wanted a refund. She said she'd look into it, but also denied responsibility for what happened stating, "the spa is outsourced so it isn't part of the hotel." It has the hotel's brand name on it, so why wouldn't you own for that? If someone made me an awful sandwich at Subway, would Subway be like, "Oh yeah, that's not Subway's fault - that guy just works here?" I called and left several messages for the manager afterward, but she was mysteriously unavailable every time I called and would never call me back. The one time I did get a hold of her, she said she spoke with the spa people and that she would get back to me. She never did. I felt really embarrassed because this was my mom's 60th birthday. She has had a really hard year and I wanted to make her feel special. I had raved to her about how great the Goodland Hotel was, but boy did I look like an idiot when this happened. I'm still not happy.

Came in for a 1hr deep tissue couples massage to celebrate my birthday and left feeling really…read moredisappointed which sucks because we booked here due to the rave reviews. My boyfriend asked for medium pressure, I asked for strong. I had to ask 2 more times during the massage for the woman to go stronger and I also let her know the muscles in my neck and shoulders were very tight and needed more pressure. Despite this, she didn't adjust pressure at all until the last 5 minutes of the massage and did not do any deep tissue work on my neck or shoulders. Because she only did deep tissue on two or three random parts of my body for maybe less than 10 minutes total of the whole massage, I now have something pinched in my lower back that I did not come in with. My boyfriend felt his massage was extremely light except for when his back got walked on, which resulted in him also leaving with back pain because of how rushed she was with her approach. There was also another employee yelling during the beginning of our massage as well and the music kept turning off so one of the ladies had to go out several times to tell them to stop and to turn the music back on. Overall it was a huge bummer, especially for the price of $285. It felt like we paid a lot of money to leave feeling worse than we walked in. We won't be coming back.
