We had a corner king room looking right at the beach. I was excited to drink my coffee on the balcony only to find the weather was not in our favor. Still, I was able to enjoy it at the big sliding windows in the room. We had turned on the fridge in the room to use it only to soon turn it off because it was so very noisy. I didn't use the shower at all because there is no heat in the bathroom and the floor (being right over the parking garage) was extremely cold. It just wasn't worth it but it means I can't comment on water pressure or anything else. It was a very comfortable bed and a nice, serviceable room. Bonus that the hand sink is outside the toilet/shower area. Wifi was no trouble for us and easy to connect to. Staff was very pleasant. The folks who stayed above us were not so pleasant and made a ton of noise very late at night (music, partying, etc). That's no fault of the staff or motel but was very frustrating in a nearly empty motel. If you have a tall SUV, you may want to park outside instead of in the garage. Though it's really great they do have plenty of parking figured out for being in such a congested area. It was so nice to be able to hop right down onto the beach from outside our room. We'll be back for sure, this is an excellent location.

We rented a room with two queen beds which also had a kitchen with fridge, microwave, coffee, dishes, etc. bathroom included shower/tub combo. The shampoo and soap provided were generic. There is a nice little flatscreen TV. The beds were nice for sure, but too firm for us. We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is now under new management and we found our stay to be absolutely miserable. Upon check in, the room was extremely filthy with heavy dust and dirt in the bathroom and on the bed frames, sandy floors, feminine product wrappings and potato chips sprinkled on the floor. Also, can't forget to mention the chewed gum stuck to the side of the bed frame. WE WERE HORRIFIED! During our stay there was a brief heavy rainstorm that resulted in water pouring through the skylight. Our luggage was soaked. I went and reported the issue to the front desk. I was shocked and surprised when the front desk worker told me that "the board of directors does not allow them to take guest feedback". She became very defensive and confrontational when we asked if we could speak to the manager. The woman explained that she could not release the phone number for the manager and the name for the board of director due to "HIPPA"?? (Am I missing something, hippa is a healthcare law and does not apply to the hotel industry). We were concerned that the leaky skylight had not only ruined our trip but was about to do the same for the next guest. The front desk did say that there was another party checking in the day we were checking out of room #203 and there was rain in the forecast, YIKES! I have never written a bad review EVER and hate to do this but was encouraged to do so by the front desk worker. She said that there was nothing she could do and encouraged us to write out our complaints to get the attention of the board of directors. I surely hope they are able to read this review and make necessary change! Needless to say we we will never return and we will tell our family/friends to steer clear of the Bellevue by the Sea. There are tons of beautiful places in Wells, please do not waste your money!

Over the next two days, we were greeted every time we left and returned to the hotel. The Holiday Inn Express Wells-Ogunquit-Kennebunk has an outstanding location on Post Road convenient to a ton of restaurants. There is a Hannaford's supermarket around the corner, and you are maybe a 5-minute drive to the beach. We had a large room with a comfy bed, work-station-desk, plenty of charging and electrical outlets, a couch, and a large bathroom with a good shower. The flatscreen TV had a lot of options and the Wi-Fi worked easily. The included breakfasts were excellent too- with a pancake machine, different omelet varieties, home fries, three cereals, yogurt, fruit, and best of all a coffee machine that grinds up fresh beans for every cup. The coffee (plus regular and sugar free hot chocolate mixes) were available 24 hours, and how much did we love brewing up a fresh cup of coffee at night instead of rolling the dice with the contents of those lobby tankards with 5-hour old sludge? We loved every minute of our stay.

Brian made some great dinner recommendations to us - I wish we tried Varano's but we didn't get a chance to go. Something that I do have to point out is the Breakfasts here! It's 5 stars across the boards. We stayed for 2 nights so we got to try 2 different meals here. They have homemade granola and Greek yogurts, and they also had delicious scones and banana bread when I stayed. The first day we had a fresh fruit cup with cinnamon cream cheese on top with granola, and eggs Benedict with potato has browns. The second day we had fresh watermelon with mint and limes, as well as waffles with a peach sauce on top. I have never stayed somewhere with such creative and delicious meals. You can really tell that Brian, his wife Janine, and his family really care about making you feel great while staying with them. They go above and beyond here and their efforts really show. If you want to have a lovely vacation, definitely stay here. Brian and his family will make you feel welcome and like a part of their family.

We kept the windows opened to allow that clean ocean air roll in. Shower's water pressure was excellent. Bathroom and room in general were very clean. Bed and linens all very clean and neat. I generally don't sleep well at any hotel so I can't really vouche for how comfortable it was. I would definitely bring my own pillows next time just for personal preference but there are extra pillows available if needed. Proximity to several dining options and shopping are all within a 5 minute drive. Batson's Brewing, Billy's, Boardwalk Arcade and Hannaford's are all within a short driving distance. We showed up at 7:35, no exaggeration, and were turned away. If you're looking for an affordable, well-appointed, comfortable place to stay, near Maine's…read moresouthern coastal beaches, this could be an ideal choice. This charming, vintage motel + cottages is on Route 1, close to Wells and Ogunquit, and just a short drive from Kennebunk and York. I mentioned "vintage" because this is exactly the kind of vacation lodging your parents or grandparents enjoyed. Typical of that era, the rooms are cozy and face a swimming pool in the center of the property. In the early days, cute rooms like these were ideal for families planning to spend most of the day at local beaches. Also - typical of some vintage lodging - there are baseboard heaters (and a thermostat in the room), in addition to a wall-mounted a/c unit. However, the owners have done an excellent job of providing the modern features that today's guests may expect. The beds are sturdy and the bedding was immaculate, with pillows that provided both comfort and support. In addition to a microwave and mini-fridge (with a freezer compartment) our room had a cute table and chairs for relaxing, eating, or using as a desk. The wall-mounted big-screen TV was perfectly placed, and - since we travel with our own Roku - it was easy to access our favorite shows. (A Roku is not necessary for guests to enjoy a wide range of programming.) And Internet service was excellent, as well as secure. We also had a sturdy luggage rack plus a wardrobe with shelves as well as space for hanging up clothes. The water in the bathroom was nice and hot, though the water pressure in the shower varied considerably. Nevertheless, the towels - like the bedding - were top quality. I've noticed that some previous guests had commented on what they perceived as dirt in their rooms. When we arrived, our room was absolutely immaculate in every respect. What newcomers to this area may not realize is that - in vintage lodging - the door to the outside may not fit snugly. So, since The Beaches is next to Route 1, there's quite a bit of dust churned up by traffic, and some of it can drift in, especially if you leave the front door open. (Note: We didn't experience much traffic noise, and - as I'm writing this - I had to pause and listen, to even notice the sound of passing cars.) Also, the walls - being from an earlier era - are fairly thin. You may hear your neighbors. We travel with a small "white noise" generator, for times when we go to bed early. However, we'd moved to this hotel from a nearby 3-star hotel which - though recently built, and charging at least 2x more than The Beaches - had noise levels in that were unbearable. After our third night at that other hotel, we were eager to leave. All in all, though Google suggests this is a 1-star hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by how much The Beaches provides, in addition to a prime location that's convenient to everything the southern Maine coast has to offer. If you're a fan of vintage lodging, this is a great deal and a fun place to stay at alone, as a couple, or with your family.

I was a bit early, so I called the number that was provided for assistance. No response. When I did get into my room, I was so disappointed. Had the warmth & charm of a haunted house. No closet? Furniture looks like it was bought at a yard sale. Window screen was damaged & ripped open. Wanted to sleep with the window open by was concerned about safety. (Window was right by the door.) Ended up packing all my belongings in the middle of the night & driving home. I worked for the airlines so I've seen many hotel rooms. Paid for 3 days, stayed 9 hours. This was by far the worst. So much for my vacation. Scary place.
