You know, it gives gourmet without being pretentious. The bakery alone puts Common Bond in this category. If you can resist dessert order from the display case, I'm not sure you're human! The visuals and smells are always inviting, but the execution is not consistent. This time, in addition to my savory picks, It's been awhile so I thought I'd revisit my Common Bond review. This location is such a score for City Place. The only caffeine dealer apart from Starbucks walkable from the plaza, it's easy to see why patrons choose Common Bond.

Why 5 stars? Because there wasn't much not to like!…read more --- --- --- My wife had a hankering to visit Common Bond and this was the closest location to us. I'd been to one in Houston before, but just for coffee, but I had a good experience there, so I was down to try their food. There were a ton of great sweet and savory options on the menu, so ordering was a challenge, but we ended up grabbing a pretty big combination of both types of sustenance. Savory: I ordered the breakfast burger and it was really great. Normally I feel like an egg takes away from the flavor of a burger, but that was not the case here. I'm really pleased with my choice here, despite the temptation to go with several alternatives. 5-stars. My wife ordered the soft scramble, and I'll give it this: it was most definitely the softest, most gentle collection of eggs I've ever eaten. But I think I like my rendition of scrambled eggs better. 4-stars. Sweet: Pistachio Croissant: All boxes checked. 5-stars. Snickerdoodle Cookie: I offer all of my praise for this delight. 5-stars. Gingerbread whoopie pie: It wasn't called a whoopie pie, but that's what it was. Like the snickerdoodle cookie, I'm mad I had to share this. 5-stars. Coco-nut cookie: We thought this was a chocolate coconut cookie, but it turns out it was chocolate and nuts. Knowing this information, we would have opted for one of the other, more delicious looking cookies. It was still fine though. 3.5-stars. Drinks: I ordered the dragon fruit berry concoction with my meal, and in a rare moment of weakness, I couldn't resist the maple pecan cold brew, despite ordering black coffee 99% of the time. I'm here to say I enjoyed both of them very much, but the latter did taste more like a milkshake than a coffee. 5-stars for both, but I would definitely order the dragonfruit thing again. Way to go, Common Bond. Here I thought you were just a coffee place this whole time, but your food is pretty, pretty good too.

The Tea Kettle Cafe - The bread, warm and tender, was beautifully complemented by olive oil drenched with aromatic rosemary, savory garlic, and salt.

This time we didn't have a reservation but we were told we'd be able to dine in 20mins so we walked the shops a bit more. When it was time we got a call to come back and was seated and hosted by , she was sweet. Ordered off the main menu and got a peach tea, which was delicious by itself but I like my teas a little sweet so we got some sugar and honey as sweeteners. We also got the fairy water for the baby girl. (She loves it) The grilled cheese and soup is so tasty and comes out hot which is also good for a soup. The portions (Caprese sandwich and mushroom sandwich) were so filling but we ate it all, even the accompanying salads. We chatted and laughed and had a great afternoon tea in this quaint little restaurant.

I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup and devoured it all! We then ordered tea and a scone. The ambience is inviting with all of the murals on the walls. That's exactly why this visit to the Spring location was so disappointing. When I first arrived, there was nobody at the register, which already set the tone for the visit. What should have been a quick stop then turned into over an hour. I ordered a smoothie and breakfast tacos, and even the smoothie took a while to come out. I finished the entire drink before my food even arrived. After about 30 minutes, I checked in with the staff and was told it was due to "miscommunication" and that someone was new, while the person who took my order was in the back on the phone. I had to repeat my order multiple times, specifically asking for no hot sauce and no salad. Despite that, after another 15 minutes, the tacos finally came out incorrect, with both hot sauce and a salad, and they were lukewarm, not hot. To make matters worse, the smoothie itself wasn't properly blended. What stood out most is that they weren't particularly busy, just a light morning crowd. I've been to the Tomball location when it was much busier, and the service there was still fast and attentive, which set a high expectation. Overall, the experience didn't match the premium pricing. I truly hope this location improves, but based on this visit, I wouldn't return to this one.
