While very much into two-channel audio listening, my wife and I also wanted the flexibility of employing our fairly high-end audio system for home theater use. Thus the absolute need for rear speakers...along with in-wall wiring and mounting of a new 65" TV. I did a lot of research to help me determine who or what company I'd hire to perform the work. A local company, Quality Smart Homes, was highly recommended by a bunch of people in the Lantana area, so I scheduled them, along with a couple other companies, to come by and work up and estimate. Quality Smart Homes was scheduled first and Derek came by to take a look at our home, inspect the configuration of the attic and chat with me about my options. I was very impressed with Derek's demeanor, respectful politeness, appearance and knowledge. He provided a very reasonable estimate (which he allowed me to modify later in terms of equipment and scope)...the estimate was so reasonable; I made the "buy decision" right then and cancelled other estimate visits. Derek asked the next day if he and Shay (a partner) could make one more quick pre-install visit to look at the attic/room layout. That done, we scheduled for two weeks out (they are busy). I asked for an earlier install to better fit my needs and they said "OK if a Sunday morning was OK with me." It was and I was happy. The install was quick and virtually painless for me and now I've got theater-like surround sound to go with my critical stereo music listening. Anyway, as I write this, I find myself wishing the world was full of companies with people as nice, punctual, friendly, competent and helpful as Derek, Shay with Quality Smart Homes. In our new home, in which we are planning other significant upgrades, we have not had the same level of good luck with vendors in other trades (electricians, shutter installers, masons, landscapers, etc.). We will deal with all that but are so pleased that the home-theater stuff is off our list...and was so easy. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball that "makes your day." This was one of those.

After over a year of frustration with how our setup ended up working due to the changes I made (not due to anything on their end), I recently decided to see if they could come back out and re-do some of it which would require dropping new cables down a wall. The work was very easy to schedule with their AV division. The crew who came out were very friendly and professional and took time to listen to what I was requesting to make our AV system work exactly like we want it to. Most importantly, they didn't try to up-sell me on anything. They did exactly what I was asking of them, and everything works perfectly now in the way that we wanted. I only wish I had called them out a long time ago. I would highly recommend them to help with any AV needs. They're not the cheapest option, but with most things in life you get what you pay for. They also pre-wired our security and home networking systems, and that's all been working perfectly.

Their operators are quite rude and condescending. If you accidentally set off your alarm by opening…read morea door, they will call you in the first 30 seconds. Of course you cannot hear your phone because the alarm is going off. If you haven't answered in 30 seconds, they have already dispatched the police. Once it shows that the user disarms the alarm within the first two minutes, they don't call back to see if all is well and to cancel the police. I had this situation happen. I accidentally set off the alarm and I immediately called and explain that I set the alarm off accidentally and give them the code. They assured me that they had canceled any dispatch. They didn't bother to call the police to cancel it and the police showed up at my house saying that the alarm company had dispatched them. When there are false alarms that involve police dispatch you can be fined. I called and confronted one of the dispatchers and she said that it wasn't their responsibility to cancel a dispatch even if the homeowner turns off the alarm right away. I am going to immediate cancel my monitoring and find a service that has the intelligence to reach out if an alarm is canceled by the homeowner within a matter of two to three minutes to see if all is well before dispatching the police.

I contacted Joel late Friday night, he responded early morning on Saturday, and at our house by Sunday at noon. We decided to have Joel do an outdoor camera as well as a floodlight/camera combo. We had purchased all of our equipment prior to Joel's arrival. Joel was patient with us as we found the best place to hang the cameras. He was very diligent and paid care attention to ensure that he left the work are tidy. We had a few technical difficulties, so the install did run an hour over our scheduled time but Joel kept to his original quote.
