At home my dad has a theory, if you see the police or taxi men frequent a restaurant or eatery, it has to be good. His reasoning is that they know the area very, very well and they obviously know the best places to eat. Now he's also a man that's highly partial to a greasy spoon, so his theory doesn't apply to necessarily apply to haute cuisine. However, I've found that it's a good rule to apply if you're looking for a basic, comforting yummy meal at reasonable prices. The reason I've laboured you with my dad's culinary beliefs is that this place is filled with taxi men waiting to get a fair, stopping in to fill their gob before they go out and deal with the drunken hooligans. I have to say that my dad's theory passed the test with this place. The food is absolutely delicious. I have to say that I'm particularly partial to the chicken curry and chips. The chicken is always a very nice, succulent portion of the breast, none of that fried beyond recognition stuff, where you're not really sure what you're eating. The chips are absolutely fabulous as well, just enough crunchiness and saltiness. The portions are huge and there's normally enough for a second meal! Also there's quite a few tables within the place itself and everything is really clean and shiny so it's totally acceptable to be seen eating in there!

During our research before we left we saw a video talking about Bunsen. Just seeing the high quality of the ingredients made it one of our must try stops in Dublin. As we do when traveling, we start and end the day eating throughout the day. We popped into Bunsen to finally try the legendary burger around 4:30 pm. Because we were there at such an odd hour, we were the only people there. When you visit Ireland, the pub culture is real and most pubs start to get quite busy around 5:30 pm. Since Bunsen isn't a pub and wasn't located in a particularly touristy area , it didn't surprise me they were empty at that time of day. What stuck out the most at first was the super friendly service right from the door. We were sat at a small banquet of tables against the wall and checked out the menu from QR code link on the table. We were there for their original burger so that is what we ordered. No sides and water to drink. I couldn't be filling up too much yet. It was pretty early after all and we had a lot of places to stop yet. The menu isn't huge. They focus on doing one thing well and keep it at that. I like a restaurant that doesn't try to be everything. Our burger came out within 10 min and it was juicy, hot and fresh. Presented beautifully wrapped. We shared this one burger because, we knew we had lots of food to eat later. Immediately after eating the last bite I wanted to order another. It was really that good. Such perfection! This will be the burger I compare all others in Ireland to.

I would highly recommend Bunsen Burgers. Very friendly staff and quick service. We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful day, quiet, easy to have a conversation between the four of us. The key as I see it is they have a specialized menu where they can be the best. You can feel the love they have for the Hamburger and fries.

They have a good selection of Mediterranean cuisine (shish kabobs, falafels). I've eaten there most at the end of the night of hanging out at different pubs and their food really hit the spot. I remember their beef shish or falafel meals. Their meat and falafel balls seem fresh and their stuff includes fresh veggies. They turn their orders around very quickly at late night, either for dine-in or take-away. They have plenty of dine-in seating. Zaytoon and its staff were very helpful at the late night rush, I'm assuming they're just as good during the day.

I tried the Beef Kebab, the Koobideh (spiced ground lamb and beef), and the Falafel (herbaceous chickpea fritters). The kebabs were juicy and flavorful, but the falafels were too soft, wet, and crumbly for my liking. The family-style menu also came with hummus, tzatziki, a spicy chili sauce, salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, red onion, pickled red cabbage), and freshly-baked rounds of taftoon flatbread. Overall, everything we tried was flavorful, healthy, and came at a reasonable price for the quality of food!
