Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder…read more Haircut / color consult / blow dry I always like to try a blow dry service at a new place...the test is my voluminous amount of hair on my own head. I found Everyone I spoke with pleasant, polite & helpful. My service by Kelly was excellent. The large amount of fine hair was perfectly controlled by this stylist's use of a few purposeful products. Less.is.More. It's All Win.Win.Win. I Loved It & am going back again quickly! D. Shim

I figured I try this place out rather than going to New Haven where I usually get my haircut from…read more I chose this place mainly because it was so close to where I live. The exterior looks nice and the furniture seems a bit updated so I felt a little at ease. However, as she was using the clipper rather than gliding against my scalp, she jammed the teeth of the guard into the base of my head...repeatedly. It was as if she didn't know how to use the clipper or just didn't care about the customer. I never had this problem before. After the cut, she tells me to go to the hair washing sink, she does fine washing my hair. She tells me to sit up and throws a towel on my head and says, "Gimme one second". She leaves for a few minute while my hair is wet and dripping. She comes back and I see her head to her station and looks back to me and says, "Oh I'm sorry. C'mon over here". Mind you she hasn't really dried off my hair. Also I noticed that when a person sits on the chair, you would make sure the smock is being sat on but nope. She just let me sit on it as my hair pieces fell all over me and my clothes. When I was done, the owner was sitting at the receptionist desk playing with some other person's child and didn't even notice me until she looked up and then charged me. Overall I think the place looks nice from the outside but the professionalism and technique seem to be lacking. I would not recommend this place.

Back in the day when I was young and impressionable, my mother told me that only Korean people…read moreunderstand how to cut Korean hair. For this reason, I have had more than one fobulous perm/dye job/you name it. I have also learned over time that my hair - dark, thin, and straight - doesn't require that much expertise to handle. Regardless, I find comfort in Korean hair salons, and am living proof of the efficacy of brainwashing. So when I found Park Jun on Orange around the same time that my bangs were going rogue, I decided to break my no-haircuts-in-New-Haven rule and see what happened. The space is clean, well-kept, and pretty open, with most of the interior visible through windowed walls from outside. I walked in and the lady on duty, who I suspect is the owner as there was no one else around, asked if I could wait for a little bit while she finished up with another customer (a male of, I suspect, the Korean persuasion, who minutes later had a spiffy haircut). I didn't wait long. I asked for a basic cut, and that's what I got. Shampoo, cut, blow-dry and all took twenty minutes or so, and cost a reasonable $40. Or was it $30? Shit, there go my "Useful" votes. The lady was very friendly and asked me questions about myself as if she were actually interested. She didn't judge me for my totally worthless language skills either. The one thing that I did find pretty funny was that I left the place with my hair styled almost exactly like hers, kind of straight with the ends curled in, and not a whole lot like mine when I walked in. It didn't matter though, as it washed back to normal, and I was happy with the cut. I'm glad I found this place and I'll be back again for East Coast hair maintenance.

It looked like a pre-schooler had cut my hair, and no not a precocious one!
