This was my mother's and my first time trying this spot. It was definitely busy, and the seating arrangement felt a bit awkward. We were placed at the table right by the front entrance, which quickly became uncomfortable due to the crowd of guests waiting to be seated. We almost left after waiting 10 minutes just to receive menus--and still no water. Our table was also missing basic essentials like silverware and napkins, which we had to request ourselves. Stopped in on a recommendation from a local Leland friend. Didn't disappoint. Very crowded at noon but got seated promptly. The menu for breakfast/brunch was extensive. The prices are very reasonable for what is served. I saw a lot of plates coming out that looked great. We had the reuben, french dip and turkey/brie sandwiches. All were good. The fries were homemade and very good. Watch out with the salt shakers, they pour a lot of salt when turned over. Finished up with key lime pie and it was good too. First thing first! They're only open for dinner at this point, on Thursday night and only until 8. We were greeted promptly and were offered a choice of seats. The server was polite and knowledgeable about the specials and offered menu items. There was a nice selection for dinner, and also a nice selection of drinks. I ordered the Chopped Sirloin Steak, served with mashed potatoes and Spinach. It was cooked perfectly and the flavor did not disappoint at all. Absolutely delicious!! My Partner had the Sea Scallops over risotto, and she said that it delicious too! The ambiance was nice and the seats were comfortable. Also, the level was very, very tolerable. Hollandaise sauce perfectly executed to a silky smooth. Perfectly made fresh cut fries complimented with a highly addicting and drinkable ranch. Corned beef has is real not from a can. I like my van hash at home but I won't pay for it at food establishments. Real corned beef and diced potatoes. The staff is very friendly and treats my family well. This was one of our breakfast stops on a recent visit to the Wilmington area and the reviews definitely led me in the right direction. Friendly, fast and tasty food. Pricing is good for portions and the coffee stayed hot, which is all I need! We all enjoyed our food - silver dollar cakes for my little, the super biscuit for hubs and garden omelet with fresh fruit for myself. I would probably request a bit extra veggies next time. I really like that it comes with egg whites - most places upcharge for this! The location in Leland is convenient with plenty of parking available. The service is outstanding. All of the employees are very welcoming. The food is excellent and is always served hot. The restaurant can get a bit crowded so if you are claustrophobic you might want to sit outside (if not too cold). This "Cafe" is very clean. The bathroom is well kept. Not enjoyable, but when you dine with your child you don't have much time to wait for another dish. They delivered our food and forgot two items, (both for our daughter) one came a few minutes later and when we asked where the other item was the person (not our server) said "oh yeah i think i saw that" and proceeded to go back to the kitchen then come out with another table's food. Love coming here when I visit. The breakfast burrito is SO GOOD I have ordered it pretty much every time. Pro tip to get it with bacon, and no pico de gallo (I'm not a fan of tomatoes and it's a little runny and makes for a messy burrito). I've also tried the chicken biscuit and it's delicious. I have to write an update. I've been going to New Day Café quite often because the food is so good! They have a prime rib dinner on Thursday nights. I had the 10 oz, which was $23. It comes with a baked potato, or you can get the loaded potato. That's what I did. It also comes with sautéed garlic haricots verts, although they were a mix of vegetables. Today (7 Dec 2021) I had their cup of New England Clam Chowder and a small Caesar salad. That soup was creamy but not overly thick with flour. The amount of clams was ample. The potatoes, cut into small chunks, were tender. The remaining ingredients added the right flavors. Simply divine. It was so good, I ordered a second cup! The salad had plenty of parmesan cheese. I could taste the flavors of Parimagiano-Reggiano cheese, the tangy flavor of lemon, and the hint of anchovies. On Saturday (4 Dec 2021), four of us had brunch. We all ordered the special of the day - Ham broccoli & provolone cheese quiche, served with fresh cut fruit, and a grilled sweet muffin. The texture of the eggs were different, almost like a dense flan, rather than a fluffy texture. Two of us ordered a mimosa, but there was too much orange juice. I've had their scallop dinner and other specials. Great sandwiches, like the Reuben, Turkey & Brie; and their Thai shrimp salad is also a good choice. Their prices are extremely reasonable; service is always with a smile. They get hammered during prime breakfast and lunch, so be prepared. Great choice! I had a regular breakfast of eggs, bacon and cheese grits. They offer some very appealing dishes. Several different eggs Benedict, yummy omelets and lunch specials also. I had two ladies double teaming me to make sure I had everything I needed and was enjoying the food. Stellar! They were very busy, so their attention was a big plus. Don't get me wrong, they fully deserve a solid four star review but they have a bit of work to do before earning five stars, at least from me. My friend and I went for brunch, and she ordered steak hollandaise and I had a ham and cheese omelette. We both had cheesy grits on the side and by FAR that was the highlight! Perfectly cooked with no shortage of cheesy textural goodness. My omelette was ok, but the reason I'm not giving five stars. It was a bit dry and slightly over cooked. My friends steak hollandaise was delish, with a generous portion of perfectly cooked steak (see photo). Service was efficient and pleasant, atmosphere is cozy and prices are reasonable.
