Instead of handing me the 85 cents change,the clerk,an owner or the owners relative, pocketed it.That is stealing and actually was less than the dollar I was prepared to tip.I will never use this restaurant again,on the principle that if they steal right in front of you,what else would they do??!! Good flavor, but I think they must use a ton of MSG... I felt weird and jittery after eating takeout from there. It wore off after a couple of hours, but my symptoms pointed to MSG side effects. Only ate half the meal and tossed the rest. read more

My husband and I both agreed this was the best Chinese we've had in a while. He got orange chicken and I got general tso chicken and both came with white rice. We agreed we both could've split one order of chicken but glad we got both to try and have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! In general, food had nice taste, not salty nor having any MSG flavor. 57 was ok. Nice flavor and texture, veggies good quality, bean curd (tofu) good too. E2 didn't try yet, will keep for breakfast tomorrow. #1, had one and was quite big and lots of outside dough on it, crunchy and insides cooked well but not watery or dry, nicely done. #70a, onion was nice and fresh and cooked well. Chicken cooked well too, not too tough and a slight curry flavor that was welcome and fit the onions very well. #87, good ingredients and not greasy, still tender beef and nicely done peppers and carrots (not raw, not over cooked). Was a nice surprise for us. Really nicely cooked, good flavor and... Quick! Only waited about 10-15 min as they had an order they were working on as we ordered. THE EGG ROLLS ARE SO GOOD!! It's hard to find good Chinese food like what I'm used to in Maine, but this is the best I've had outside of it! The general Tso chicken was pretty good and the rice was decent, the teriyaki chicken was also delicious. My family got some other items from the menu and they were also satisfied. Based on some reviews I had low expectations. However, as American Chinese food goes the food was quite good. The chicken in the curry was quite tender, the vegetables were really nice and the curry itself had a little heat and a nice flavor. We drove down to the Outer Banks Mall to try out New China for lunch. They have a small buffet and it was fine for lunch. Other reviews are critical of the selection, and I agree, it is a little limited, but is really plenty for us. By limited, I mean that on this day, at least, it comprised mostly chicken dishes, but then that is mostly what we eat. I could use a pork offering, and Ms T might do some seafood. They did have a couple of seafood items, very bland. There was no beef or pork. I wished for something with a rich, dark Hunan sauce. I enjoyed Mala Chicken which had delicious rings of chiles Jalapenos. I could eat a plate of just these chiles. The dish was just a bit spicy with the chicken and other vegetables in a clear sweet sauce. I also liked the Bar-B-Que Chicken although some may find the chewiness off-putting. I liked it. It did not have a sauce. I also liked the Onion Chicken, which was in a clear sauce. The chicken has a lot of black pepper on it which is why I liked it. The onions were sweet and mild. I was able to select out plenty of steamed broccoli, which was done just right. I also had a couple of the Spicy Wings, the sauce of which was like a blend of sweet and sour and Franks Wing Sauce. This was a nice combo, actually. OK, it's almost what our family calls good-bad Chinese. This means we like it because we don't know much better, but it is probably dumbed down for gringo tastes. We did learn one thing. (pro-tip if you will). We arrived at 11:40 am and our food was not hot. It was barely above room temperature. When we left at 12:20 pm, the tables were really steaming. Since they open at 11:30 am, the steam tables were just not warmed up when we arrived. We suggest, don't go early. The place occupies two suites in the strip so is not tiny. Although we have only tried China King, I think this is a little better than the little strip mall carry-out places. read more

Thee absolute worst Chinese buffet I have ever been to. I would not recommend this disgusting place to anyone! There is barely any food on the buffet for the price you pay. Everything tasted terrible and the quality was very poor. The staff was very unfriendly. And to top it off, I went into the women's restroom and found their menu's located on the floor next to a dirty toilet brush. After that, I made my husband use the men's restroom and he found a pair of kitchen tongs used to fix some kind of plumbing issue. This place is so unsanitary I don't even want to know what goes on in the kitchen. Please save your money and eat somewhere else! read more

I'm not crazy about the lunch buffet. Some of the dishes tasted like they may have been reheated from the previous day. Of course you need to keep in mind that we are a small town. My favorite lunch spot in nags head. The only Chinese buffet on the Outer Banks. For less than $10 you can get fresh vegetables, excellent fried rice, and multiple fresh chicken dishes. They always have shrimp on the buffet too. The wings are outstanding. New China is not the typical frozen Chinese food. The buffet is not huge but the items are consistently good and the owners are always very nice. My favorite item is the jalapeño chicken. Walk in, get a plate and dig in. read more

Got takeout for dinner. Shrimp fried rice should be basic entree for any Chinese restaurant. Got home and found dry, tasteless rice with uncooked carrots and peas and hardly any shrimp! Also had a strange oily taste that lingered on my tongue. Drove 20 miles to return to get refund. Lady argued with me saying the entree was good. She kept saying I should have called her and should not have returned there. I asked what good would a call do? Can't return my money over the phone! We had two days of travel and my family was looking for something hot. We looked them up for closest Chinese place near us. All I have to say is that it was hot food. They messed up two items in our 15 item order which isn't all the bad. We were upset though because she read our order twice over the phone and once when we picked it up.
