The food was uninspired at best. Before covid we ate here consistently as the food was excellent. Not any longer. My fiancé asked for a coffee, but could not drink it as it was on a heater so long it was burnt. And concerning that, the waitresses made fun of her, among themselves, asking for it. Solid Chinese buffet with a lot of selections and very few stand-outs. Exception - the egg tart. It's truly yummy, and I've only had anything like it at New China. It is tuly worth coming back for, but the rest of the food is perfectly standard. It'll satisfy a Chinese food craving and everything is reliably fresh, which is pretty much the best you can hope for with a buffet. Still, it's nothing worth getting super excited about, and the dinner price ($10.93 after tax) is pretty steep for those of us who aren't capable of shoveling three or four platefuls down the hatch. Like most buffets, this one is probably going to leave you wondering why the heck you just DID that to yourself. The service is prompt and friendly and the place is kept very clean, but I did have to take a star off for atmosphere because the fact that they have contemporary Christian music playing on the radio is just weird! read more

REST IN PEACE NEW CHINA BUFFET 2020 This place used to be my favorite chinese restaurant in Rome, GA. We visited last night around 8:30pm and there were just old crusty pans with around a spoon full of each item left. We got the last six broken up/ mangled crawfish and I discovered the tail meat was brown and to further inspection they had were in the early stages of decomposition. So were the 'fresh' ones to follow. The sweet tea was also fermenting and tasted bitter, so I just told the owner flat out that the food was inedible, cold and the tea was bad. We agreed on $5.00 and we left, NEVER to return again. I mean I understand buisness isn't what it used to be, but damn. You are careless and obviously trying to make someone sick because of food cost. WTF?! read more

Food on the bar was not even warm. Told the person at the register, who has been there since it first opened years ago. Him and waitress said no, water is very hot, keeping food warm. I touched the edges around the pan and it was cold. We will not eat there again. read more

I've eaten at new China buffet for years now. It's usually good at times the food was not so fresh. It has re-opened after being closed because of COVID-19 so I decided to go on Thursday evening. It was around 7:15 PM. At least six or seven of the items on the Buffay were empty and those that had a little bit left we're old and look like they've been there since lunchtime. I was not the only diner there so I was surprised when they did not fill any of the empty food. I will never return to new China buffet and I am extremely disappointed. When I want a good Chinese buffet I will go to Chef Chen buffet for sure. read more

My favorite is the crawfish...ive never tasted great grawfish like this in Rome Georgia!!! The flavor is awesome and they cant keep them on the bar because everyone grabs them up!!! They call me "Crawfish lady" thats the best thing on the bar. The noodles use to be good but to me its lost its flavor....and rarely is fresh. But as for the owner/staff they are all friendly an the owner an his wife always know what i want when i come in. Very polite an jokes with my husband. This place is nothing to rave about it have eaten here twice and in my opinion they serve more American food than Chinese food. The last time I ate there the honey chicken was cold and the fried rice was bland and needed flavor the only thing I liked was the egg tarts. The service was good and friendly and was on top of their game but my biggest problem is had I got up to go to the bathroom and I walked in front of the kitchen and there was this musty smell of dead fish that caught my attention I understand that it's a restaurant what do you expect? This was my first visit there, and I was not really impressed at all. The food had been out for quite some time, and the sauces in the chicken had become jello like. The selection was decent, but there was nothing to seriously rave about. On a positive note: The server was on top of her game and very friendly. I don't like to eat there anymore - there was not so many option food I wanted. When I was moved in Rome last year from Mississippi, I thought at first I ate there, it was good crispy chicken wings. I don't know about sweet and sour chicken, it is not supposed look like a chicken ball I was just thought it was a real crispy chicken with an onion and green peppers and pineapples comes together sweet and sour sauce - it is not what I expected. The place was clean and the food was okay, but when I took the lid off of my daughter's water there was a roach floating in it...I asked to speak to the manager and he ran and hid in the back. Spoke with the cashier and they gave me a $3.00 discount...wow...but I explained to her he was rude and has poor customer service and I would never return. read more

not a very impressive "chinese" buffet. that one star is only because the owner is nice. other than that, I can't believe this place is still open. the food sits out until it's getting low and they put fresh food on top of the old dry food. I've also seen a bug crawling on the counter of the buffet section. the shrimp is not deveined, which is really disgusting. I also have noticed they always charge me different prices for the same things when I go , I've started to believe they just come up with their own prices for everybody. I would rather make my own chinese food at home and spend more money for the ingredients than to go to this place and risk getting sick or having a bug crawling over my food. read more
