I go to chef chens and my waitress comes over to my table before I am done eating yes I paid with card and put zero on the tip spot because I was leaving cash on the table and she yells at me to leave her a tip and tells me she makes no money working at her job and did nothing wrong first off get a different job and tips are optional but I left her a 5$ tip was just waiting for my elderly mom to get done eating I can't believe they allow a worker to yell at me like that ridiculous ,and the shrimp is nasty, mind u I had amazing manners and was nothing but nice to my waitress. She threw a tantrum like a 5 year old for no exact reason. My tip doesn't pay ur whole salary. It's a buffet so most people don't leave a huge tip I mean u serve yourself right? read more

The meal (including a soft drink) total was $17 and some change for one person before tip. Food was extremely bland and lukewarm at best. The only seasoning that I could taste was sugar in a few dishes. The service was ok... but the overall experience is not good nor worth the money. We have eaten at this buffet several times and while it isn't anything to write home about, it was adequate and an inexpensive way to fill up very hungry teenagers. However, it has gotten increasingly worse. The servers, although very sweet and friendly, prefer being on their phones over checking on their customers. The food is often lukewarm or cold and this is the second time that the ice cream has been melted in the freezer. Honestly, we most likely will not eat here again. I stopped by to grab some dinner as I was traveling through Rome on Monday night. The food was tasty and had good flavor. However all of the hot food except for the soup was barely warm. Some of it was at room temperature. I got some spring rolls that were actually still frozen in the middle. They were actually cold. I asked the waitress if the microwave next to the soup station worked and told her that my spring rolls were cold. She told me that it worked. However she didn't seem to care that they weren't cooked enough. So I went over to the microwave and warmed up my spring rolls. On the salad bar, the grapes and olives and items were all okay. However the chocolate pudding was at room temperature and not even cold at all. Again the food had a good taste, however for the price of $12.50 for a buffet, I expect the hot foods to be hot and the cold foods to be cold. Also quite a bit of trash in the men's restroom and the hallway where the bathrooms are. Probably won't try them again. read more

Months ago my husband and I ate at Chef Chen like many times before. We both ended up with upset stomachs. We decided to try them again this week. I had to call in sick the next morning because of bad gastric distress. We don't know what changed, but this restaurant is off of our list for good. read more

I ordered take-out through Dinner Delivered. The food arrived on time and was hot. Two barriers down. The Chef Chen Lo Mein was LOADED with ingredients beef, shrimp, chicken, pork and all the vegetables. The fried cheese wonton was large in size and the filling was ample. I made a note on Dinner Delivered for no sauce, but they sent it anyway. Normal you get fluorescent red or orange, hence why i usually skip the sauce. This sauce was home made and had a little spice to it. All of the items were tasty and I will order from here again, or go to the buffet and give them another try. read more

Not the best, but pretty good value for the price (cheap). Lunch and dinner buffets include variety of chicken dishes (sesame, pepper, General Tso, kung pao, etc.) with beef selections and some pork. modest selection of veggies including sauteed green beans and bruccoli. Soups offered too. Dessert table has good fresh fruit and small ice cream containers. All-you-can-eat lunch buffet is $5.35, dinner $7.35, one dollar more on Fri-Sat when menu includes crab legs. Carry-out available. Menu says sushi is available, but we've tried it. Otherwise, quick, inexpensive and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quality, variety and freshness of the food. read more

A few words could sum up my review: I LOVE BLACK PEPPER CHICKEN!!! But yelp won't let me write such a short review... So I will elaborate. I always get mine to go. Put a nice layer of rice down and then LOAD UP the rest of the container with BPC. Of course they frown upon you just getting one item... As far as buffets go this to me is hands down the best and not just for the price! Try the all you can eat real roast beef and the spicy soup two of my favorite things plus the fried rice is always fresh. I get to go from here ALL the time and of course some items are better than others but find you favs and you will be back and back. Oh..and let's not mention how friendly and thankful the staff is.. Upon entering the restaurant it seemed like it would be good. A polite hostess guided us to our table. It turned sour on the way to our table because of a strong smell of urine coming from places unknown. Rather then leave I decided to try the food, because I'm optimistic. The waitress forgot about our drinks until after we had already been on our second plates. The food was cold and they did not have quite the selection I was hoping for. I only eat here for lunch take out, so I can't speak as to the service, but the ladies at the counter have always been very nice. I once saw a little kid put his hands all in the jello, but they were very quick to remove the tainted food and replace it. This is my favorite lunch spot for work as I can get in, get out quickly, not spend too much, and still have hot food and vegetables. Their green beans are great, I always get some lo mein noodles, and everything else I've tried is very satisfactory though nothing really stands out.
