My family has eaten here numerous times and its always delicious. There is a wide variety of items to choose from. The staff is friendly and is quick to remove used dishes and keep your drink filled. The price of the buffet has risen, but that is true of all restaurants. read more

Food was fresh, plentiful with a good selection of beef chicken and seafood. Good service for a buffet, and the restaurant was busy and still had a calming atmosphere. read more

New China Buffet Restaurant - Chinese Near Me - Owensboro, Kentucky

The food was awesome amazing service they had a variety of foods like French fries sushi and Chinese food.

We called before we went to see the prices per person, they told us it was $16.99 per person and when we got our bill it was about 20$ per person. When we first walked in the door the guy at the counter was really rude. The waitress was really nice but when we didn't tip, she said nothing for me!. And not only that we all got sick! read more

People review these like they're supposed to be five star restaurants and they're not! It is what it is and this place isn't bad at all. I can't remember the last time I ate at a Chinese buffet, and the food was so hot. I had to let it cool down, but that's exactly what I got when I came here. It was very busy, super packed, and it was easy to see why. The foods not bad at all. For a Chinese buffet, I can promise you that if I am in Owensboro Kentucky again, and I will be, I will definitely eat here. read more

I think the reviews on new China are disgustingly outdated. The past few years new China has really stepped up their game and are very clean every time I go even with it being a buffet. Also the food is always fresh and warm unlike most buffet I go to where they're foods burnt on the bottom and have a weird films on top. Also in regards to the service, they're not amazing at English but the waiters and waitresses speak clearly and fluently enough for you to understand them easily enough and they're always so sweet. The only downside is how expensive they've become for the buffet coming at around $20 a person but I understand because of how hard they were hit during Covid. read more

Great variety a little pricey but it's pretty good.food although I don't eat seafood. Way better than Hong Kong. That place isn't edible . Service was great enjoyed my company too read more

I can't speak to customers' opinions from years ago having only recently relocated to Owensboro, but my first and recent visit seems to match reasonably with more current reviews. I enjoy Asian food, and buffets. The variety and options appeal to me. My visit for the lunch buffet provided a mixed bag of impressions. Neat and clean, with a pleasant ambiance of cultural connections. Both the hot and sour soup, and the egg drop soup, were very good. Beef was consistently dry and slightly tough, across the board, in all varieties. Chicken was good, tender and tasty, except for the General Tso's chicken, which was also dry and tough, and tasted nothing at all like the traditional dish found elsewhere. Seafood was a mixed bag, some being quite tasty, others tasteless. Lo mien was excellent. Limited available greens were very good. Egg rolls were okay, spring rolls were substandard. Price was fair. buffet servers adequate for their purpose. I departed full, but disappointed. I expected a higher overall level of quality of the food. I suppose I've been spoiled by better Asian buffet restaurants elsewhere. read more

Just ordered like 6 meals, 3 being general tso's and they all 3 were so overcooked my wife chipped a tooth on her chicken. I have been going to New china for decades always loved it but this is ridiculous. Tried to call and talk to them but they just argued or didn't understand.. I guess we need to find a new Chinese place, treated customers like crap!!! read more

This place deserves a better rating than it has the place has changed a lot me and my wife went in right when they opened and they make everything by scratch food perfect Will definitely continue going back plus the price is a very good deal 20 bucks for 2 people read more

Took my family here for a quick meal I watched one of the ladys come out of the back take food that was on the counter someone had spilled and throw it back in the buffet disgusting!!!! read more

The restaurant really gives off a good vibe with lots of decor and relaxing music. The waiters are nice to me everytime I come. The owner of this restaurant is always helping work it and he is very kind. The food is good, always hot and fresh. Lots of seating avaliable at all times and there is a big variety in food choices. 9.5/10 restaurant for me. read more

Ok, I from out of town and I eat this type and cook this type of food. The fare is varied and tasty. This is a clean buffet. My family has been nourished here for many years. I have been treated to lunch here numerous times. We enjoy the set up of the buffet. The diversity is the perfect balance for the Kentucky taste. The diversity is for this area. Just know you will leave full and happy. This place is packed every time I have visited. That has been a plus, fresh and vibrant trays of creative dishes. The downside is large. The people skills are horrible. The feel is one of extreme stress. I leave every time feeling so sorry for these people. They are so unhappy. i just cannot keep from thinking how better it could be. read more

We went into this restaurant knowing that from the reviews it was going to be hit or miss. We went at noon on a Saturday. Really big selection of food, something for everyone. Food was delicious. No one we went with found anything they didn't like. Big selection of desserts and sushi. Only reason I took one star away was it could of been cleaner. Little dusting goes a long way. Bathroom wasn't gross but could use a good cleaning. Buffet area was cleaned and well stocked. I would go again. read more

We were on the road wanting a Chinese buffet and read these reviews and decided to give it a try. It doesn't deserve the 2 star average ratting it has, it's pretty much what you'd expect for a Chinese Buffet. I posted a picture of their A Rating to dispel any sanitary concerns. read more

New China Buffet Restaurant - Chinese Near Me - Owensboro, Kentucky

Even after hearing about their "C" health department rating, I will still probably eat at New China. I absolutely love Chinese buffets & I believe Owensboro could do with a few more. They do have a lot of non-Chinese foods on their buffet, but I believe these are great when taking younger or picky children out to eat with you. I love their General Tso's chicken & their noodles. I have had a few experiences when coming in later at night or when they're not very busy that the food has not been very fresh. I don't believe these reasons are excuses for this though, maybe they should start putting smaller trays of fresher food on their buffets instead of letting full pans just sit & sit. As far as service goes, I believe it has gotten a little better. In the past, I always felt rushed as I have had waitresses come to my table & literally say, " You pay now." I don't like being interrupted as I'm still eating my dinner & have to stop to pull out my wallet. But, this hasn't happened in a while. Even with the few mishaps, I love their food when it is fresh and will continue to eat here, even though I must say I don't come quite as often as I used to. But, you can't beat the prices for all you can eat. read more

Over cooked food. Over priced. How is this place still open when it's this dirty. $40 bill for 2 people who barely ate $20 worth of food.

Usually I enjoy indulging in here but tonight it was horrible there was 4 items that I always get that didn't taste right. This isn't the place to go if you're looking for healthy options. You will probably leave feeling horrible and super full read more

We went today after church. It has been years since we had been. We will NOT go back! Very disappointed! One of the chicken dishes was super tough and pretty much impossible to chew. I normally enjoy Chinese food and always go back for seconds. That wasn't the case today! read more

Me and my wife went there after a doctors appointment, It was a very disappointing experience. the meat was over cooked and dry on one side and over seasoned and inedible on the other. This is the greatest Chinese restaurant I've ever eaten at . It's my very favorite restaurant. the food is hot , fresh , buffet always well stocked and fresh . There are so many different dishes to choose from that by the time you leave you are stuffed . It's the one time that I allow myself to eat as much as I can . We live in Bowling green Ky and we drive approximately 70 miles to eat there . That should tell you how wonderful the food is . Could anyone tell me of a decent one in the area of Bowling green. ? we have tried several and walked out without eating even though we had paid . All have been a big waste of money. read more

The soup was good and the fried chicken was delicious (yeah they have an American food cloning section). They also have great-tasting ice cream, and the fortune cookies taste fine. Probably the worst part about the buffet -- the food tends to be very bland and non-spiced to suit the American palate. Trying to please everyone does strange things to a cuisine. So, whether you like this place or not -- you'll have to try it first. read more

This is a giant chinesee buffet. they have crab legs, sushi, and every type of chicken & beef you can think of. They even have some sweet rolls and other desserts if you still have room. I work nearby and this is a pretty good pick for lunch. You can walk in, grab your food, and skate out really quick. Perfect for a quick break from work. Just don't expect great chinesee food, it is a buffet after all. read more

This is the worst service i have ever received besides ihop.... the waiter was so nosy and rude. she made several remarks implying we were going to dine and dash. most of my food was cold. the restrooms were disgusting. i wont be attending new china again. read more

A lot of choices but not good it is just okay. If you get buffet on Saturday it's 8.95 but if you don't notice the sign above the crab legs you think that's what you pay if you do happen to notice it it hikes the price up to 19.99. I don't think it's worth that at all. But it may be your taste just not mine. Staff is fast and quick but not talkative. They do have an ice cream machine which my kids ate their money worth in it!!!! The bathrooms were not tidy and the carpet was super sticky. But other then that it seemed clean. read more

Surprised to see that the reviews here are so negative. Being from the Owensboro area, I'd say New China is just fine. Yes, it's a typical Americanized Chinese buffet - but since its so popular (always packed every time I go), the food is constantly being refreshed. Not just getting stale under heat lights like some places. If you have some self control (hard to do) you can get a relatively healthy meal. read more

Sanitation is almost gross. Another review said they treat people like cattle it is a good description of service. Very impersonal. Food is not very good and watching them clean around the buffet tossing dropped food back in makes me wonder how it is in the back. Won't be back. read more

It's a buffet. I think buffets are pretty gross any way, add in the dirty and obese of this area and it get a lot more disgusting. I would give them 2 star for cleanliness and 1 star or even a 1/2 star for quality of food. If you want good Chinese food, try a place that will cook fresh to order... read more

The lonely star is for even in this neck of the rural wood there still is a china buffet. You may wonder where the rest of the stars have gone. The answer is none wants to stay around. Seemingly a fair amount of choices, but it is nothing more than a poor skinny chicken sliced and sauced different ways. Their sushi and dumplings are so old and hard, you want to talk to the manager, but then again even the waitresses barely look your way. They all look bit off. With this food? No wonder. In summary, if you are around, walk away from this place, period. read more

I use to love New China but they've gotten terrible. They dont kno how to properly cook crab legs...they always boil them which causes the meat to stick to the shell. Crab legs should b steamed. The shrimp in their dishes are NEVER deveined...so disgusting. NOT going back! read more

The first time I went it wasn't bad. Wasn't great but I was willing to go back. Well my 2nd and final visit left a lot to be desired. They weren't very busy but had trouble keeping the buffet stocked...at dinner time. And the food just didn't taste good. Never have I left a Chinese buffet having only eaten 1 plate of food that didn't even have much food on it. read more

It's fine for a buffet. Typical foods you'd find at similar places. Staff treat you like cattle, herding you toward the feeding trough.

I live in Owensboro, and it's a pretty decent restaurant. I eat there most of the time and I enjoy it most of the time.

New China used to be my favorite Owensboro restaurant. I have eaten there hundreds of times. I crave their food. I defended them for years as they went down hill. But I'm out too. I usually don't do buffet, but order 4 or 5 entrees to go off the menu. The last 3 times, there were objects in my dishes that were not food... pieces of plastic, pieces of cloth. The final straw for me? The last time I went, i felt seriously drugged and had nystagmus. It was crazy scary. I got into bed closed my eyes and passed out. I woke up the next day, but not chancing that again. read more

I have been a fan of New China since their opening weekend. They were my favorite Chinese buffet hands down for years. New China was the Chinese buffet I would take friends visiting from Florida to because I know Florida has some pretty amazing large Chinese buffets in just about every city. The quality of new China has steadily been going down as other Chinese buffets in town closed down. The quality issues got so bad I stopped going at dinner time because adding frozen fried shrimp and chicken on a stick didn't change the buffet enough to justify the increase in price. So I started sticking with the lunch buffet. The price on the lunch buffet has been steadily increasing while the quality and variety of food has been steadily decreasing. The lunch buffet is now how many ways can we serve chicken. The sushi is how many ways can we serve imitation crab. Literally only the cheapest ingredients. The green pepper steak is a pan of 98% onions 1% bell pepper and 1% meat that looks suspiciously like chicken soaked in beef broth until it's darker. I have rationalized this decline for years because of rising food costs. Well I went to Chinese buffet in Evansville a few times in the past months and guess what? Variety! Beef served in multiple ways. Pork chicken shrimp that's not frozen breaded. Sushi using more ingredients than imitation crab cucumber and carrot. The absolute kicker? Every single one of these buffets had an A rating, friendly staff, and was cheaper than New China! Owensboro is in desperate need of a new Chinese buffet. Competition is good for the consumer. read more
