Nobody has license, they don't even understand what hurts or what to do. how can you do massage if you never learned anything about it?

A bit disappointing. The price for a 60 minute service drew me in. The facility is clean but quite drab with no spa-like atmosphere. I was given no kind of instruction, just taken to a room with a massage table & left. I completed no kind of paperwork, no one asked about my massage preferences or specific needs. I had to go back to the front desk to ask if I was supposed to get undressed or wait for my therapist to come in & meet with me. After undressing & laying face down, therapist came in & began. She did not introduce herself or ask any questions. The pressure was a bit deep for my taste but I was never asked if it was satisfactory. The massage, overall, was average. The same 4 minute song played on a loop repeatedly, which was annoying after the 5th time. When finished, there was no chair to sit in to re-dress or put shoes on. No offer of water. She did not ask how I felt or if I enjoyed. Then I was charged a credit card fee. It wasn't the worst massage experience I have had but I don't think I will return. read more

First time customer, used a Groupon for a 50 minute Swedish, deep-tissue or shiatsu massage and 10 minute foot massage. I called and got an appointment right away which is a plus but the rest of the experience was not entirely pleasant. My masseuse never asked what kind of massage I wanted, just asked whether I wanted light medium or hard. The massage itself was fine. The building isn't anything special but isn't gross either. It can be a little loud with outside noice and the ringing bell hung on the front door. My masseuse left the lights on while I was face down (she dimmed when I was face up) would have preferred it to be less bright. The reason for the low stars is the "required $10 tip". If you want to have recommenced tips then have a sign or something at the front desk. It was uncomfortable being asked for $2 more dollars and left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. Bought a Groupon, 50 Minute Massage with a 10 minute Foot Rub. I called the same day as purchased and they had availability. Great! - My masseuse was well skilled. Good Pressure on entire body, she picked on my knots which was amazing and painful, and the hot stone towards the end was great - a bit hot at first but my body felt so relaxed. The only Con: Wish masseuse would have communicated that she was going to pull the sheet all the way below my waist. I did not feel comfortable with that and I requested for her to keep it up. She did. ( This place is for a massage, you will hear the phone once in a while and people walking by. This is not a luxury spa don't expect that!) Overall, I would go again. read more

Same experience as others. Therapist demanded a higher tip than 20%. In addition they kept me waiting on the table 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment with no warning. When they finally came in they asked me for my groupon and delayed things another 10 minutes. Mediocre massage. read more

I used a Groupon when I visited the New Canaan Massage. When you first walk in, it is pretty bland and could use a better cleaning. My massage was lovely, and the lady very sweet. However, when I went to tip her 20%, I was told by the man who works there that my tip was "too little." I was really offended, and it actually ruined my relaxing experience. I didn't realize it was socially acceptable to be rude. A tip is earned, and it is not very polite to feel entitled to more money. I will not be returning based on that minor incident alone. read more

Had a Groupon, expired 2 days ago, asked if they would honor it and was told that I had to pay full price which goes against Groupon's policy of the value of the Groupon never expiring. This is a fairly new business and I believed the whole point of offering Groupon's is to get new clientele in the door and give them good service so that they will return and be repeat customers. I live just up the block and am a nurse which has done a number on my back. Was excited to try this place out since it was close and I typically try to get a massage 4-5 times/month. You can take my money and lose my business. UPDATE: Dude just called me and started yelling about the Groupon policy. Didn't say hello, didn't identify himself or where he was calling from, just arguing and I had no idea what he was talking about. Rad. Absolutely no professionalism. Thanks for the harassment. I would give this place 3.5 stars if it were an option. I had an overall decent massage here. The parts that were good were very good. The rest of it was ok. Pros are that they take walk in/same day appointments and they are very affordable. Some aspects of this place were strange ie there was absolutely no intake paperwork, no conversation about injuries or what areas of the body to focus on. This is what I would expect from an experienced massage therapist. This is not a spa or a relaxing oasis with a lounge and magazines and hot tea. You go in, get an average massage and that's it. For the price it's not bad.. you get what you pay for. :) read more

Terrible service. I went for a massage today which was absolutely not even worth the time. I would have been better off getting a massage at home from my daughters or husband. However, when I went to pay for my service with a gift card I asked the man at the front desk to call the massage therapist that I used so that I could give her a tip. As soon as I said that he says there is a REQUIRED $10 minimum for tips. Not even knowing what I was going to give her for the tip. I asked him to show where this is stated in the pamphlet that there is a required tip. He went on to say that at restaurants it's required. Have been going here since they opened and have not had a bad massage yet, I love this place. My wife and I often go at the same time. The owner is super nice and the girls are too, pleasant and fun, they may not be totally fluent in English but it is easy to get the message across as to what you need. I have paid double this amount for a licensed masseuse before and gotten worse massages so will always go here. Try it. read more

I used to be a regular customer and come here 2-3 times a month with nothing but positive experiences and have brought about 3 different people to this place because of it however I will never be going back after the worst experience I've ever had at any massage place. I purchased 2 groupons for a couples massage for an hour. My "masseuse" who was also working at the front desk kept coming in and out of the room during my massage never fully closing the room door during our massage! That made me feel so uncomfortable! If you're short staffed don't make the appointment! On top of that he was so rough I told him THREE TIMES during the massage that he was rough and he just continued to be unpleasant. There was nothing soothing or comforting about my last visit which made me so disappointed. It was the most unenjoyable hour I have ever experienced. Just give the business somewhere else. read more

I purchased a Groupon for the 90 minute massage with a ten minute foot massage. The masseuse was pretty rough and I actually have bruises on my shoulders and spine. In addition, she said "time's up" after only an hour and no foot massage, and when I said it's supposed to be 90 minutes, she laughed and walked out of the room. Won't go back. read more

I just had the same experience as Sarah M. I really enjoyed the massage. Nothing special about the facility and really was pretty boring there. I tipped 20% and was told by the man at the front desk that "it wasn't enough." It made for an extremely awkward experience and I will not be back. A tip is supposed to be a reward rather than a requirement. There are so many massage places in Fairfield County and this establishment shouldn't be pushing customers away like this. By far the worst massage experience I've ever had. The room was essentially a closet. The bed was cold and there was a lot of noise going on either in the hallway or next door. Worst of all, there is no privacy. There are windows on the room doors that are only partially covered. Anyone in the hallway can look in and see you undressed. I caught my "massage therapist" peeking into the window to see if I was ready and she saw me full on naked getting under the covers. There was no apology. During the massage she made no attempt to keep my private parts covered with the sheets. My "massage therapist" was pleasant but had NO idea what she was doing. I asked for deep tissue and there was zero pressure. All she did was rub oil on my back over and over. There is no way she had any sort of training in massage. I thought about getting up to leave and I wish I had. Because then she mounted me! She climbed onto the bed, straddled my body and sat on my butt. Entirely unprofessional and unacceptable. I was horrified. I will never, ever go back. It was not relaxing and it was not even a massage. I hope someone reads this review and changes their mind before making an appointment. I am giving this place a 5 star because the ladies who worked on me and my husband's back did a great job. Vicky- she worked on my back, I asked her to apply more pressure so she said she could walk on my back, I said okay without knowing what I was in for and I dont regret saying okay, my back has never felt so relaxed . Cece- she worked on my husband's back, he says she was on point with the massage and hit spots that were bothering him. Excellent massage place with super reasonable prices. The owners are friendly, the place is clean and not sketchy at all, and most importantly, the massage was great. I am used to going to massage places with showers, steam room and such and this is not one of those places. Although the place looks a little sketchy from the outside (you cannot see inside because of the giant window coverings), the massage was pretty good. I had never had a massage before, and I went there last night for the 1 hour massage. Judy was very professional, and she made me feel very comfortable. If I could I would give 0 stars. I had a groupon for foot reflexology. I've done many times in other places, so I expected to have a shoulder rub during the foot soak - not in these place. the chairs for foot reflexology are located right in the reception area - very noisy, bright and not relaxing atmosphere. In other places I had towel put on my face to help to relax - here instead the girls who massage talk to each other non stop. Then the phone started to ring. The massage itself was really bad too - I asked for a stronger massage because initially it was more than rubbing lotion into your skin than an actual massage. The girl started to do a better job for a minute or two and then started talking again, get distracted and went back to her rubbing. I will never come back to this place - I'm more stressed after the massage than before. Absolutely unprofessional. read more

Decent massage. No explanation when pushed into the room. Very little communication by staff. Decent pressure and got the knots out. Spent a great deal of time on my butt as opposed to back, feet, shoulders etc. Somewhat unprofessional staff and odd.
