I found them on Groupon, and from the moment I arrived, they were friendly and easy to work with regarding the Groupon booking. When I was shown to the massage area, I was genuinely surprised by how large it was--there had to be at least 10 or 12 rooms, maybe more. The therapist was excellent. It was a very deep, intense massage, but by the end I felt great. I would absolutely go back and would definitely recommend them. I bought this Groupon as a gift to my sister. I called the establishment to book the appointment. I was first told that I was trying to book too far in advance and to call back. I called back closer to the date I wanted and was able to book with ease. On the day of the appointment, my sister arrived and was spoken to very rudely by the staff who greeted her. She was rudely told there was a $10 fee that had been listed on the Groupon website. My sister asked a few questions, just to make me aware for the future, as I was the one who purchased the gift and paid the fee herself. She sent me a text just to let me know and I immediately called the establishment. I was told the same story about the fee but could not find it on the Groupon voucher, the website, or Groupon website. The fee was returned and waived by the establishment. I'm not one to leave a bad review, but my visit to Massage Palace start to finish was not pleasant. I booked a massage through Groupon, arrived to my appointment and was placed in a room. Was not told to undress, was not directed where to place anything. I waited in the room for the masseuse to arrive and he did not even introduce himself he just began. He started off rough-- digging his thumbs into the knots in my back. Although I appreciate the effort, it was extremely painful, but I thought hey-- I have a bad back, maybe this will help. He did that for about 20 minutes. I was sweating. Then, he pulled down my blanket and exposed my back, and the majority of my rear, which was uncomfortable. He then proceeded to use his entire force on all of the areas of my back. I was wincing in pain for the entirety and even asked for him to go softer multiple times, but he continued with the extreme force. I would assume that he was not very fluent in English. He then exposed my entire rear and legs, which was uncomfortable again. Then, he was stretching my legs across my back, he ended up almost lifting me off the table and my breast was completely exposed. I have been to many massages in my life, never had one like this. It was painful and not relaxing-- start to finish. I just moved to Stamford so I wanted to try this place out, but I was so unhappy and left very upset and uncomfortable. At the end, I left a generous tip in the room, and tried to leave quickly and go home as I was very upset. He then chased me out of the doors, and gave me a water bottle and put his hand out for a tip. The front desk lady said "tip??" I said "I left it in the room" and left. Absolutely phenomenal massage. I have been twice now, I had a female the first time and a male the second time. They really know what they are doing. I like deep tissue and can be picky with what I like. I never winced once from a painful movement in these massages (if you know what I mean, you know!!!). My only complaint is that the only thing separating me from the moaning, groaning man beside me was a barely-there curtain. Important Note: There is a very odd tipping issue here. The massages are rather inexpensive compared to swanky spas (I usually don't like those places because they are all about "nice massage" not working out the knots therapeutic massage). The expectations is that you will tip the masseuse well. They can be a bit insistent about the tips but I imagine that the tip covers whwhat they may not make in salary (given the inexpensive nature of the paying price for the massage ). I have just gotten back from getting a massage here. You enter in the building by Starbucks and go up an escalator. At the top, there are three different business. This being one. I was greeted by a nice lady. She gave me the option to do an hour at $49.00, though the regular rate was $60. I was on a hour lunch break so I said 45 mins. They said this would cost $45. Sound does travel here (as a previous reviews stated). A couple Spanish women were chatting away while waiting for their massage therapists. Which was slightly disruptive to my relaxation. Second, it was a bit rough without getting knots out. I felt like I was getting pushed up the table then back down then up again and then back down. **Third, I felt that TOOOOOO much time was focused on my buttock. This was slightly upsetting. I didnt say anything, which I should have. Just be aware that at least one massage therapist spends a lot of time in this area. Underwear in buttcrack and full massage in this area. And then again, and then again. No questions asked. Lastly, when paying at the end, the therapist stands there while you complete the transaction and supply the tip. The lady before me was only charged $35 (the VIP rate) for an hour massage, without being a VIP member. Which was not very fair since I had a 15min shorter massage and paid $19 more. The lady that I thought was nice, said "Only $5 tip? It usually costs $60, I gave you 1/2 off" and that customer just said ok. When I was completing my credit card transaction, she charged me $49.00, which I was originally told $45.00. She also stood there watching me fill out the tip- and made the suggestion that I tip $10.00. Overall, poor business and a front desk lady who makes things very uncomfortable and unfair. Regarding all the complaints about tipping - yes the receptionist (who apparently is the owner) definitely pushes a tip and shows you a chart with appropriate tip amounts. You're supposed to tip on the regular (non discounted) price. I'm sure they've been stiffed, or people tip on the discount price. They probably make most of their living in tips so why get upset? The decor inside is surprisingly tranquil and well designed. The massage 'rooms' are separated from each other with a curtain / wall so there's privacy but you should be aware that it's not sound proof (you can hear clients coming and going). I went after they reopened , the place was extremely clean . The staff seems to always be wiping something down and they all have masks on and some have both with shield . I felt the cleanliness was well taken care of . I had a full body massage , rooms were also clean and bed was comfy and clean . The guy forgot his name did a great job breaking up my knots in the shoulders and I felt relaxed. I also notice under the bed where I put my face was connected to some hose or ventilation that went outside the room and outside the place .
