George and team have done many projects now for our house, and I have been extremely happy with their work. They are experts at their work and make sure the job is done perfectly. They have great attention to detail. I've had them help with plumbing, shower ceiling repair, woodwork restoration and repair, and painting. I trust them greatly which is why I keep reaching out to them with new projects. read more

We hired George Lopez to do our master bedroom re-model including replacing the flooring, painting, recessed lighting, molding and some framing to make way for a walkway. George was very professional and got the work done on time. He had some excellent recommendations along the way. We ended up extending our contract with George and he helped me also replace 2 toilets, replace the shower and vanity in the bathroom. A big thumbs up for the commitment to the highest standards for George and to take pride in his crafstmanship and ownership of the project at a fair price. Would definitely recommend read more

Have been working with George for over this past year. He's the one we chose when we bought a house and wanted to do some remodeling. His expertise is in plumbing but he can really do anything (painting, flooring, tiling, building shelves, installing light fixtures, installing fire/co alarms, remodels of any room in the house, helping to fix the outer parts of the house, installing water fixtures/fixing bathrooms, and the list goes on and on). The only thing he hasn't been able to help us with and offered great referrals or advised other folks for are: -installing garage door -working with glass (ex. Shower door) -electrical -roof The estimate: -give him a item by item of what you're looking for -he responds back with his estimate (very reasonable prices!) -open to conversation about what should be done, his recommendations of advice (of course he goes with what you say but he does give great advice based on his expertise) The work: -he shows up on time and very communicative every step of the process and work (making sure it's ok with you before) -very hard work and committed to your project no matter how many he may have (he'll stay longer, work on weekends, whatever it takes to help get the work done). I've found him working on days he says he was going to try to take a break -the only bump in the road here is the timeline it took him to finish some of our work (the initial big project was longer than we expected) but again he was communicative about why and some of it was also on our end in the type of work we chose but also in the amount of effort it took to finish the remodeling of the bathroom The payment: -can pay in installations, just talk with him about it before you all begin the project -he also offers to buy materials so you don't have to go and you can reimburse him for it later or you can go buy or get the materials delivered yourself (really up to you) We continue to use him time and time again for our unit and our tenant's unit, and it's always a pleasure to work with him. He's someone who is not just responsible, responsive and does good work, but is someone who doesn't seem like they're just out to make a profit or money and recommends things that save both money and time. read more

We found George via Yelp for the installation of our newly purchased laundry room cabinets. George provided a reasonable quote for the installation after we provided some details/photos regarding the project. He was quick, efficient, and very professional. He arrived on time, came prepared had all the tools needed to complete the installation. The job took a little over and hour and he made sure to protect our washer and dryer with a sheet and cardboard so it wouldn't be damaged during the installation process. Definitely recommend New Beginnings Home Improvement. read more

First and foremost. Great work done by George. I messaged several home improvement companies via yelp and George responded the quickest and was the most accommodating in terms of exchanging photos of the work that had be done and providing some early estimates. One of the bathroom floors in my tenant's house needed to be redone. Turned out was and seeped beneath the linoleum and rotted out the wood. We both stopped by my tenant's house and took a look at the what needed to be worked on. He gave me a more concrete estimate. We took a quick trip to home depot to buy materials then he immediately got started. The project was done by midday the following day. The final cost increased a bit because George came across additional issues. Which again, he sent photos and reviewed with me before diving into. I can't stress enough I was EXTREMELY happy with both the final cost and work. He'll be my go to handyman moving forward. read more

I booked George for installing my dishwasher. On the first day, he was late for 3 hours. Then didn't finish the job I the same day. He deliberately broke the job into 3 days and charged me $695 in total only for installing a dishwasher, lift a wall oven(I did the wire myself) a minor painting on bathroom ceiling. Such a bad experience. For the third day's job. He didn't say it's charged separately in advance. Otherwise I would let other people do. Such a waste of time and money. read more

I would give 6 stars if the option was available. George from New Beginnings was great to work with. I had an unusual project which was removing a closet that had a raised floor and a large overhang from my mid century home. As he was working on the project, I was so impressed with his work ethic. He was not only was a hard worker, but a really nice guy too. George is detail oriented and did little extras that many others would overlook. This project consisted of demolition, rebuilding, removing popcorn ceiling, putting up new door moldings, adding accent wood planks to a wall and painting. He always kept his areas clean as he worked. Everything exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to hiring George for future projects. read more

George is the owner and he's very professional. He came and gave me the best quote for repairing the pergola in the back yard. My wife and I wanted to redo our old kitchen counter tops and cabinets but we had a set, limited budget. After numerous meetings with greedy contractors that significantly marked up the cost of materials and overhead we had to pass. One contractor agreed to do the job for the budget we had but then stopped after partially demolishing our existing kitchen and insisted we'd have to wait 2 months for him to continue as he had taken on a more "lucrative " job . This was unacceptable. That was when the miracle happened and we discovered New Beginnings right here on yelp. After contacting them ,George came out quickly and did an assessment of what we wanted to accomplish with our kitchen remodel within the limitations of our budget. There were things we wanted like , increased overall height, a dishwashing machine alcove, and..... possibly granite tops? Well George and the New Beginnings crew far exceeded our modest expectations. We got increased height, we got the dishwashing alcove, and we go new deep stainless steel sinks, and we got a brand new garbage disposal, and we got....well quartz countertops which are better than granite. We also got a lazy Susan built into our cabinets which we love , we got self closing drawers on our cabinets and we got it all within our given limited budget. And the work was done professionally and fast within just a couple of days. New beginnings worked nothing less than a minor miracle on our kitchen and we couldn't be happier. George is sincere, trustworthy, hardworking, and a man of integrity (you don't often associate these words with a contractor)that has mastered the plumbing trade, electrical trade and contracting trade. I watched him remove old tile with surgical precision to create exactly what we wanted. In conclusion, in all my years as a homeowner, I have never met a contractor as good as George and the New Beginnings Team. I intend to use him on all my future house repairs and r read more

I am reluctantly writing this review, since George is a nice guy and I really wanted to have a good experience. I hired him to do some fairly simple painting, tile install and unclog a drain. Unfortunately he didn't do any one of those things correctly. For the painting, he was supposed to cover up some brown water damage from a leak. We discussed priming with a stain blocking primer. He said yes, he knew what to do. Within a day of his paint job, the stains returned. He had to go back and repaint the entire thing, which he attempted to charge me for. The second part of the job, he was supposed to install bathroom tile. He showed me some options and I told him which tile I wanted. He said ok, but he installed the wrong tile. The third part of this job was the worst. I wanted him to unclog a bathtub in the upper unit of an apartment. He said he's an expert in plumbing, so it was no problem. Unfortunately while doing this simple job, he damaged the pipes to the point that he needed to go into the apartment below and cut the ceiling out. Due to this mistake, the simple job was now 7 times the price a capable plumber would have charged. I expressed concern about this, to which he replied that it would look just like it did before. After the repair, they just left, and did not contact me. The ceiling was left with uneven glops of patch everywhere, drawings all over it, and was an utter mess. I had to contact him, and a week later he reluctantly sent someone over to repatch it. They did, and it looked fine, but they did not paint it. When I said we needed to paint it, he attempted to put me in touch with a painter who could take care of it. And he has stopped answering my calls or texts. I gave him every chance to make it right. All it all, the jobs cost twice what any other handyman would have cost, the ceilings of one of my apartments is in worse shape than before he got to it, and I don't have the tiles I chose. read more

We hired George to make some adjustments to our laundry room. Move a gas line and the vent hole and then to fill the existing hole and re-stucco and paint. A person who treats your home or office just like his, is a person you can rely on. George is that kind of person! A true professional! No job is too small or too big for him to tackle. I have a lot of projects I need a handyman for but have been busy taking care of family issues. However when I had a plumbing issue that could not wait I called George based on others reviews. He is a GOOD guy and easy to work. Thanks George. read more

I needed a window pane replaced, as well as a doggie door installed for my back door. George was the most communicative and the best price out of everyone that I contacted. When he saw a picture of the dog door that i had purchased next to the door it would be installed in, he had the attention to detail to notice that on the box of the dog door it said it would fit doors 1.5 inches thick, yet on my backdoor there was a panel where the dog door would be installed that wasn't thick enough for this dog door, and brought it to my attention. When i had the right dog door, he showed up right on time, played with my pup, and gave me the option to go out and purchase the window pane replacement so he could work on the dog door quicker. By the time I got back to the house with the window replacement, he had already taken the door off the hinges, sawed the hole, put the door back on, and was wrapping up the dog door! It was amazing how quick he got the whole project done. I will be calling George for any projects i need in the future. read more

Don't ever bother getting your gutters cleaned by this company. Despite claiming to "ensure proper draining", it's pretty obvious they did nothing other than clear the horizontal piping without bothering to check the down spouts as I am sitting outside in a thunderstorm as we speak watching my gutters back up and overfill while my downspouts process nothing. Guess it was a waste of $100 for something I'll have to do myself. read more

We had George back to tackle a handful of jobs. First off, some electrical work. George added overhead lights to our patio and took care to paint the conduit and all other hardware so the look was seamless. He also added string lights to our lower deck. Finally, George dug a trench, added cement, and fenced off our playhouse in the backyard so that skunks could no longer live under it. He topped the whole thing off with lattice, so it wasn't an eyesore. I'm really particular and, as always, George's work was meticulous. read more
