Egg drop soup

Today was the third time we've ordered lunch from New Asian Star. The price is average. I like that they give you options - egg roll, bean sprout egg roll, or spring roll. We all prefer the bean sprout egg roll. You also have choice of rice, fried rice, or noodles. Some are an up charge and it tells you up front. The General Tsos chicken is good and not spicy at all. My son likes the sesame chicken. The orange chicken is very strong orange, but good. I ordered a side of the plain lo mein to try. It tasted fine, but priced a little high for what it was. The first time I ordered, I got some egg drop soup but I didn't love it. I decided to give it another try. It's a little bland, but that is fixed with a little salt and the fried wonton strips. I just wish the egg drop soup was thicker.

We ordered carry out tonight. We ordered the crab Rangoon, steamed tofu pad Thai and a general Tso chicken for one order and an almond chicken and an egg foo young for the other order. Order totals to around $57. The woman told me to call before coming in to make sure my order is ready so I won't have to wait outside. It's set up like Fort Knox. They won't let you inside at all, only in the doorway with a window in between. Room for one person at a time. That's why they let one customer in at a time and ask you call to check on your order before picking it up. They pass the food to you by the doorway. The crab Rangoon tastes crispy and good, mostly all cream no crab. Wonton is nice, thin and crispy. Sauce is okay. The mixed veggies and steamed tofu tastes more like a red curry sauce instead and it's creamy too. It's still tasty. It wasn't the pad Thai my husband was expecting, but it still liked it. I tasted it and was okay. The noodles were all balled up for me. My general tso chicken has lots of big chunks of chicken and the sauce is okay, maybe a bit too sweet and syrupy for me. The sauce has decent heat to it. Step-dad liked his egg food young. My mother liked their crab Rangoon. Her almond chicken meat was a bit dry.

Yum yum the food is very good, I haven't been lol, the service is wonderful. The atmospheric place is wonderful.

Sesame chicken with fries rice. Yeah..it's as good as it looks.

Getting food by carry out is the new reality, so it's great to find a place with really good food. What I love about New Asian Star is that they execute the classic Chinese dishes - broccoli chicken and sesame chicken - flawlessly while also adding cool things you don't normally get from a Chinese restaurant: Pho, a hearty Vietnamese soup. The breaded chicken in the sesame chicken had a crispness and a glaze to the exterior, unlike the soggy breading at some places. I thought the fried rice was robust and flavorful, but my wife didn't love the onions in the rice. The chicken in the broccoli chicken was cooked properly and had a sauce on it that went well with white rice. The brisket pho was quite a thing to get as a carry out, since there are so many parts to it. An entire carry out container had most of it: the lean brisket, rice noodles, peppers, scallions. Another container had a massive branch of Thai basil, plus bean sprouts, and scallions. The broth was in a third, massive container. I can see why this can serve as a main course (for more than one person). One thing I also love is the massive amount of fried wontons with any soup order. The hot and sour soup is neither hot nor sour, but it's hearty. Curbside service was a little slow, but that's a testament to how good the place is. The word is out. It's worth the wait.

I began coming here before the new owner(s) took over. To say the least, I'm very grateful they did. This is my favorite Asian fusion restaurant in the Tri-County area. I've never had a bad meal here. The various chicken combinations are always on point, as are the vermicelli bowls. Their location isn't too close to home, but I'd rather make the drive here than order from a local competitor.

I'm mixed on this place half try the food I ordered I really enjoyed and the other not so much. The egg drop soup was watered down nothing thick in there it was like chicken broth,a lot of water and egg whites. Did not taste good. The egg roll was ok the dipping sauce was something you buy at the grocery store. The won ton soup also watery the won ton were soggy. Now the good the almond chicken was the best I've ever had not like most places to much breading not enough chicken. The chicken out did the breading and the gravy was a whole different taste it wasn't brown wallpaper paste like some places. It was a little thinner but not watery. The cashew chicken was good plenty of chicken and cashews. The sauce was spiced right. They were only carry out then. The service was good and friendly. I'm 50/50 on a return visit.

The chicken pad Thai was creamy, super fishy tasting and the eggs were scrambled . I ordered two chicken pad Thais and they both ended up in the trash. I was surprised by the crispy chicken rolls as I thought they were going to be like the ones wrapped in the rice rolls but they were in tortillas. Very disappointed because it was like deep fried chicken tender but tasted fishy and was unsatisfying, and I love some breaded chicken tenders usually. The crab Rangoon were tasty but very sweet. The best part about this place is the lady at the counter, she's always kind.

Great fresh food. It was tasty and has a lot of options. Worth going to and trying. The chicken was good and not chewy like other places.

Fast takeout, good prices and is always hot. Online ordering is a little difficult so I usually just call and order.

Ask the Community - New Asian Star

Hi ! Does anyone know if New Asian star is open for indoor dining?

No, we went last weekend and they put plywood over the entry to the dining room. Everything looked very dirty. Nobody was at a makeshift counter and we walked out. Im so sad.

New owners?? New name?

Hi! Good question! Yes, new owners and a new name and new menu. We are a new restaurant, opened January 16th. Come check us out! Mikki or Amber would be happy to help you out with any questions or suggestions.

It was such a nice vibe inside. Hate when nice restaurants have TVs tho. (They have a 15 minute grace period btw) Our waiter, Jordaee, was awesome! He was so attentive to what we needed and took our orders quickly. He did a great job explaining the menu. Now the food -- so so good!!!! The spicy edamame has this sauce that's so good!! The blue fin roll was so so good & the king ora! GET THE GARLIC NOODLES & YAKI UDON! Get it! Don't skip! (Get the tenderloin in the yaki We were all having a great time. Here's my only qualm: We were there for a birthday and we paid for the dessert..... I totally thought it would be comped or something. We would have skipped the cake if we knew tbh. That was our only skip of the meal. Also, the manager or owner (idk) his name is Mo! He was so kind! Came to us when he saw we were done eating because he thought we didn't like the food. We were just waiting for boxes, don't worry Mo! We loved the food! Come here, but beware you'll spend money. But it's good!

The experience opened with the ube tacos, which I can only describe as a delightful and unexpected introduction. They set the tone beautifully: playful, vibrant, and full of personality. The kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite and think, okay... we might be in for something special here. Then came the jalapeño hamachi, which -- and I say this with a heavy heart -- didn't quite rise to the occasion. It wasn't bad, but it felt... quiet. Like a conversation that had potential but never quite found its voice. I was expecting a spark, a kick, a memorable moment, but instead, it passed by politely without leaving much of an impression. It was okay, and I enjoyed tasting this roll. But just when I began to wonder where the night would ultimately land, the Ora King salmon arrived, and with it, redemption. This dish was, quite simply, fantastic. A clean, refreshing punch of flavor that felt perfectly suited for a warm spring day. The salmon didn't just sit on the plate - it shined. Light yet satisfying, delicate yet confident. It was the kind of dish that reminds you why you go out to eat in the first place. Overall, Zuzu delivered an experience that felt intentional, creative, and worth exploring. A perfect place to celebrate an anniversary with my Love. Not every note hit perfectly, but when it did, it sang. And to close the night on the highest of notes, a special shoutout to our waitress, Que B, whose service was nothing short of exceptional. Attentive, caring, and effortlessly warm; the kind of presence that turns a great meal into a memorable experience. Would I return? Absolutely. Because any place that can serve a moment like that salmon and pair it with service like that is a place worth revisiting.

Most recently i placed an order for a 12:00pm pick up and when i came at 12:05pm not only was it not ready but they never even started it! The employee said it will be a few minutes. Several other customers were waiting and no one was bringing out their orders as well. Food from the kitchen was only brought out to customers who were dinning in. I never received my order until 12:45pm. I would come here more often but due to the long waits I probably won't be coming back unless I choose to dine in and i'm not pressed for time. The food however is delicious with lots of gluten free options. You can choose from 3 sizes of bowls: Junior, regular, and large. The base can be white or brown rice and for an up-charge noodles or all veggies. Protein options are chicken, steak, salmon or tofu. The Spicy tofu which indeed was VERY spicy!! The tofu was perfected fried and coated with just the right amount of sauce. I loved how fluffy and sticky the rice was but i wish there were more veggies. I only received one slice of zucchini, no carrots...only broccoli and cabbage. Food gets 4,5 stars but service gets 2/2.5 because of the extremely long waits. Defeats the purpose of doing an online order for a fast and easy pickup.

There are only two tables to eat at in the front with some decorations, making the inside of the restaurant feel as if you are eating in someone's dining room. The attendant at the front made sure my needs were met despite flying back and forth to deal with constant takeout orders. For my dinner, I ordered the pork pad thai and the thai milk tea, 16 ounces. The meal started with a complimentary chicken and rice soup, served in a small bowl. The broth of the soup was made up of a fatty and rich chicken stock, with a slight aroma of fish sauce and some cracked peppers. As soon as I tasted it, I could tell that the food was going to be quality. The thai milk tea was on the better end. It's not the best thai milk tea I have ever had, but its strong, concentrated flavor got the job done. The pad thai, while not as reddish colored as I have seen other places make it, very much tasted like authentic pad thai. I ordered the dish with the medium spice level, and I was happy to receive the proper Thai medium spiciness, not some watered down version that pulls back on the punches. The pork in the dish was tender, not overcooked or dry. I also appreciated that there wasn't a large amount of bean sprouts dumped onto the meal to make it seem as if the quantity of the food was larger. There was enough food served that I had another whole meal packed in a container at the end. Overall, I'm glad that there is a good Thai option nearby for people to enjoy. I'd love to come back to order some of their other dishes.
