My husband and I visited this supermarket while we were exploring Northern Blvd last Saturday. It's an Asian market with lots of vegetables and fruits. They also have frozen items as well. You can't beat a good deal. They had lemons on sale - 4 for $1.00 and American eggplant $1.50/lb. I bought both items. I asked one of the staff where cilantro was but I don't think he understood what I asked. I eventually found it myself. It's a nice supermarket. read more

This place sells trash. The watermelon I bought today is completely rotten inside.I bought some frozen durian recently, and it seemed like it had been thawed and refrozen multiple times. Complaint Regarding Extremely Unprofessional and Threatening Behavior Store: New Age Market I had an extremely upsetting and unacceptable experience at the meat department of this store, and I feel it is necessary to report it. I initially asked for approximately 5 pounds of pork. The first staff member refused to sell by weight and insisted that I must order by "number of pieces." I explained that as a customer, I do not know the exact weight of each piece and that other supermarkets normally sell by pounds. He responded impatiently and arbitrarily gave me two pieces. Then I asked for about 5 pounds of pork chops. The same staff member again refused and demanded that I specify the number of slices. When I questioned this unreasonable requirement, his attitude became confrontational. A second staff member joined and, instead of helping, supported the first employee and argued with me. He even asked, "Are you buying or not?" When I said I would file a complaint, he told me, "Then don't buy." This is completely unacceptable customer service. A third staff member initially agreed to help weigh 5 pounds for me. However, when I mentioned that I would report the previous employees, he refused to serve me as well, saying that if I complained, he would not help me either. This clearly shows unprofessional and retaliatory behavior. I then went to the front desk to ask for a manager. The staff member there was unhelpful at first and said she was busy. After I waited, she told me she would try to find a manager, but later informed me that no manager was available and could not tell me when one would be present. I waited for a long time, but no one took responsibility. Eventually, the front desk staff member said she would help me get the meat weighed, and I went back to the meat department with her. At that point, the third staff member finally weighed approximately 5 pounds of pork chops for me. However, when I attempted to take photos to document this incident, the third staff member suddenly became aggressive. He lifted the bag of pork chops and raised it directly toward my head in a striking motion, as if attempting to hit me, while demanding to know why I was taking photos. This behavior was clearly threatening and made me feel unsafe. After receiving the pork chops, I immediately left the counter to avoid further confrontation. Key Issues: * Refusal to accommodate reasonable purchasing requests (by weight) * Rude, confrontational, and dismissive behavior from multiple employees * Staff refusing service after I mentioned filing a complaint * Lack of management presence or accountability * Threatening and aggressive behavior by the third employee This experience was extremely distressing. We used to shop there often since the price was reasonable with its freshness until we found some instant noodle we bought there was expired in a few days. read more

A pretty good market in the Flushing area. There's a lot of parking here, but it does get crazy on weekends or right before a storm. Be careful when you leave the parking lot because the drivers on Northern Blvd are going really fast! There's usually some produce outside. I like this location because there's a very fresh bakery inside after you check out. The people at the meat section are also very friendly. The fish here is definitely cheaper compared to the supermarkets in Long Island, so I usually come here to buy fish and Chinese snacks. As far as vegetables go, I try and shop elsewhere. New Age Market does a lot of promotions. I've gotten a set of 3 bags of dumplings after sampling what the lady cooked there. Around Mid-Autumn Festival, there was a mooncake promotion where if you bought one big box, you got to choose a mini mooncake. This worked out because not all my family members like the same flavor, so through this promotion, we were able to satisfy what everyone wanted without having to buy 2 large boxes. Good prices and decent produce. Nothing special when it comes to Chinese supermarkets. And, we usually EXPECT to be treated like second class citizens at these kinds of places. But, this place in particular is like a third world country when it comes to customer service. Whenever you ask a worker a question, you get something rude back. It's like you're bothering them. It's like they're the only market in a communist town. Lol. This happens every single time. Today was even better, as we witnessed a worker yelling and screaming at a customer who had not heeded his warning to not pick the vegetables or something. He yelled, the customer rebutted, and he yelled some more, at the top of his lungs, and it went back and forth with the worker getting louder and louder. I even had time to catch half of the exchange on video. Lmao. I suspect they treat you ok if you speak mandarin AND they understand you. But, my mandarin is quite poor. And, they don't understand much English. So, I get the death stare, a rude wave of the hand, or some mumbling and cursing under their breath, etc. You just have to laugh. read more

This supermarket is conveniently located on Northern Blvd. and operates pretty long hours. They open early and close late (about 8am-9pm). In the last year, they've been doing renovations both in space and appearances. Their parking lot is spacious and can hold plenty. Also helps that they have other vendors tucked inside their location so besides groceries, you can now grab some baked goods (@ Bake Culture) and cooked food (although last few months, the food stall has been closed). Sadly the deli counter is no longer there but I wouldn't be surprised if that was due to low sales. It's foot traffic is 90% Asian. But what's cool besides it being a huge supermarket, is the inventory of choices and housewares besides food as their main sell. They also sell some American brands (think Pringles, Coca-Cola, Kraft) and Spanish brands (think Goya and Columbiana) - including canned goods, condiments and sauces. I usually come to buy fresh fish, fruit, Chinese veggies, rice, and my favorite ramen noodles (by the case)! Their eggs and vegetables are always a good deal here. If you're buying to cook for the same day, you can save even more as they do have some $1 specials for veggies that are expiring soon. They recently added a member pricing model vs non-member. Similar to your local market with the key chain card where the more you shop, you collect points. This one though, gives you way better pricing. BTW, if you spend $100, you get to be a member for free (otherwise, it's like $20 for the card). Items are clearly labeled with both prices so be aware when grabbing stuff off the shelf. read more

Thank goodness for New Age Market in times of covid-19. They are doing an EXCELLENT job keeping everyone safe. They require that everyone wear a mask when they enter and they are giving out gloves to the customers. They only allow a certain number of customers in at a time to promote safe distancing within the store. This supermarket is pretty decent and has a lot to offer although I only ever got some snacks, veggies, and frozen foods. Everything I was looking for was all there. I never tried the seafood, meat, or anything else from this supermarket so I don't have anything to say about that. They are pretty organized though with everything so it won't be hard to find what you're looking for. It can be intimidating if you are not familiar with a Chinese supermarket since you will be the seafoods moving and in fish tanks right when you walk in. The lines move pretty fast and the cashiers check you out pretty quickly. They also have a bakery attached to the supermarket which looked pretty neat, but I never got anything from there so I can't rate the beverages or pastries. One thing that did stick out to me, which I loved, was the veggie sections. They would have the name of the vegetable, have a description, and also tell you the benefits of that veggie. This was a super nice touch! Tip: make sure to bring your own bag since now they charge you 5 cents if you need one like all other supermarkets :) read more

Chinese market close to home that I am willing to shop at. Lots of Chinese markets are so grimy and dirty that I hesitate buying there cause if the store is not maintained well then their products probably aren't either. Have not been into central Flushing since February and have no desire to shop there any time soon. I have only purchased dry and frozen goods and produce from here, no comments on the meat and seafood section. They have a large selection of produce...or maybe it seems like it due to the high ceilings. And they have a lot of other Asian selections (i.e. Thai, Japanese, Korean etc). A nice 2-birds-1-stone perk- The Bake Culture bakery attached also has good breads and pastries. There's a chocolate filled chocolate bun with chocolate googly eyes my kid loves - and it's really tasty! Will try their cakes one day, they look good. The fruits and vegetables are generally fresh and not tired. The salmon is cheaper here than ones in Long Island grocery stores. However the freshness of fishes is varying from time to time. When I see the new batch of salmon, I usually buy and eat some portion the same day and stuck rest in the freezer. There's section of can food and snacks and other variety of spices packs. More Asian styles of snacks than the ones we see in regular grocery stores. Just don't be surprised that you might not find the cookie you are looking for. Near the entrance and inside the grocery store there's a bakery shop, you can find the Chinese basic types of bread and buns. Parking space is limited, so I would recommend to come on daytime of weekdays. Avoid weekends. read more

I was a bit apprehensive when my cousin first suggested we go to New Age Market for groceries. I've only ever been to H-Mart for my Korean food needs and Waldbaums or Trader Joes for my American stuff so I wasn't sure what to expect venturing into unknown territory. I doubt I really had much of a choice, though, as she was the one driving. But I trust her judgment more than most people, so I was happy to oblige. And true to form, she was on point about this place. Their produce was extremely fresh, the shelves were well stocked with all sorts of Asian products, from Thai curries, to Japanese soba noodles, to Korean kimchi and Chinese eggplants! I was pretty impressed by the variety of food products they had for sale. What really knocked my socks off, however, were their assortment of vegetarian sauces. They had so many, I never realized these things even existed! I bought sauces I don't even know how to use, like ponzu and hoisin, just because it's vegetarian! Amazing! Now I'll need to go buy some cookbooks, to actually utilize these things but I'm so glad that people like me can actually flavor their foods, Asian style! (^^v) read more

my wife shops there weekly today she questioned a price at the register the display was marked 3.59 and the cashier rang it at 4.99.The cashier called for a store manager .The manager came over and my wife explained ,he said it was wrong sign and got rude and in her face saying you want it fine you dont want it get out of here and started yelling at her and calling her stupid. Encouraged by the 3 glowing reviews, I decided to check this place out. The original vision may have been for a premium Asian supermarket, but the only remaining evidence of that is the 'fancy' green signage. The view from the car park is nice enough, but the already rusting shopping carts and the old styrofoam boxes that welcome you from the seafood department are a rude reality check. There is nothing here that separates this from your run-of-the-mill Chinese supermarket. No unique selection or higher quality meats or seafood--just the typical underpaid demoralized staff. In fact I would say the place is a little smaller than average, so they offer fewer choices. Judging by what they charge for rice, prices seem to be the same or a little higher. To their credit, they do clean their floor with one of those commercial machines, but a dingy grey is already starting to form in the many corners that it can't reach. I didn't try their bakery because it was near closing time and they were starting to block the exit with carts of fruit from outside. It looked like there was an upstairs seating area that overlooks the checkout counters. Not that this is such a pleasant or peaceful place to enjoy your coffee and pastry. I was disappointed because I had high expectations from the hype. I would love for someone to open a really premium Chinese supermarket, but this is definitely not it. Been to this market a few times. It is right on Northern Boulevard so easy access via vehicle traffic and there is a parking lot. I've only bought a few items (apples, frozen dumplings, packaged jelly candies). Their produce does not look that fresh. I once went up to touch an orange and saw ones underneath with mold on them. Also the prepackaged breads in the front had mold growing on it. The prices aren't the greatest either. There is a $10 credit card minimum. I see they have decorated with red lanterns and the lights inside are very bright.. but still it does not entice me to buy more here. The other supermarket by me has more competitive prices. I expected a better stock of produce; was surprised to find a tiny zucchini and eggplant section. I question the management of the establishment on the way things are run. Today I turned around and almost hit my head on a hanging scale (that was not there a minute ago). Apparently a worker was going to place the pan of the scale back up; saw me almost lose my footing upon seeing it and changed his mind. Huh. read more

I was in a pickle the last time I was there and couldn't find this particular fish ball and this kind lady walked with me to the aisle just to show me where instead of telling me the aisle number. WOW! this is a really nice market place, I love the look and feel of this place. Prices are great and everything is fresh! Dude if your into Asian snacks this market has it all. My wife was wowed when she saw all the different varieties of hot pot items that they carry (must try the fishballs with roe). LOL just thinking about it makes me want to hot pot tonight, perfect for those cold night and looks like there putting in food stalls in as well. Check this place out you won't be disappointed. Very rude cashier!! My wife just made a purchase and gave the cashier the exact amount, the woman cashier would not accept a penny because it was dirty. She was rude and disrespectful. Chinese people picking on chinese people, shameful. To the manager of this establishment, you need to train your staff to be respectful to all people. New Age is one of the only Asian supermarkets open during covid in NYC. I went this past Saturday and there was already a line outside, but the line wasn't nearly as long as another market I drove past. They were letting senior citizens in right before it opened which is nice. It was very organized and they only let people in one by one; not to exceed the occupancy limit. I appreciate the limit because once I got inside it was not hectic and I was not overwhelmed or rushed. Their staff was helpful because I don't speak Chinese and needed some help buying meats. They weren't 100% stocked but I found 90% of what I needed. Their bakery is also open so I ordered a brown sugar bubble tea which was delicious. Also picked up some egg custards and buns. In this new age of no plastic bags, they had cardboard boxes available for us - otherwise you can bring your own bag or purchase their bags. Thank you for being open during this time!! read more

stay away unless you want to be scammed. this place is a festering pool of shady practices, especially the seafood department. i bought two lobsters the other day and the guy behind the tank picked out two live lobsters and showed them to me, put them in the bag and weighed them. then he took the bag back behind the tanks where i couldnt see and rebagged them. when i got home, i took out the lobsters and each one was missing a claw! so he showed me two live whole lobsters, but then switches them out for two damaged lobsters without me knowing and hands me back the bag. another instance, my friend went to this market to also buy lobsters and said that she came home, opened the bag and the lobsters were not alive. a shopper at the market once told me that she bought a fish once and picked out a beautiful fresh one from the counter, but then when she wasnt looking, they switched it out with a dead one from below the counter. Once you walk in, fish tanks and slaughtered bits of seafood greets you with the fishy odor but what's more disturbing is there is a bakery facing across the fish market. I wonder who planned the layout because I really don't understand why people would buy pastries with the stench of fresh seafood. Confusing. actually pretty in love with this market at the moment. carries generally the same stuff as any other asian supermarket in the area, although the seafood and proteins appear to be a bit cheaper, but still very fresh. we picked up stone crabs last weekend for $2.99/lb and a bag of mussels for $2.99 and enjoyed a seafood dinner feast on presidential debate night. the produce is a little pricier than other markets, but not by much. plus they were giving out a ton of free samples to try, making it a fun snack and shop. read more

Great place for your one stop shopping. They offer fresh high quality meats and seafood at very reasonable prices. Aisles are wide and clean, easy to navigate. Love their hotpot section. Must try their puff pasties, i.e. pistachio croissants. The ladies in the counter are friendly. Their meat selection is vast and fresh and their prices are amazing.
