This used to be a pub, a proper pub that happened to serve food, now its a restaurant that happens to serve beer.
I used to like the old place for lunch the food as the food was good, prices were good and service was friendly and fast.
However the food here is in a different league. It's no longer pub grub but proper restaurant food. Visited for the first time with the family for Sunday Lunch. The renovation has transformed the place. Very well finished, lovely surrounds. Place was packed and we didn't have a reservation but they still found us a table.
Despite the busyness it felt cosy, unrushed and friendly, The staff were great, orders were taken promptly, recommendations given and if they had not tasted something they said so.
We weren't rushed, the food was superb and the prices, while higher than the old place, were reasonable especially when considering the quality of food.
This is a fantastic spot, excellent food, but not formal, great for a family but not crazy, noisy and off putting. its a large spot but manages to feel smaller. A lot of effort and thought went into the design and layout and it shows.
Highly recommended. read more
