He serviced it for two years and it ran like a top. In the good riding months I put on over a hundred miles a week. Because of proximity I used another shop last year . Started with an expensive tune up but I had problems with it throughout the season. I knew where I had to go. I just got my bike back from Eric's shop today. I was intending to go to a bike shop closer to home, but as we were out in Hoffman we just happened to find this place. We stopped in with my tire and we were quickly and warmly greeted by someone who gave us a time estimate and started checking it out. While he worked we walked around their large bike shop and let our kid take some test drives. During this time the guy came to us a few times and showed me what was wrong and some of the debris that had been in the wheel. Also while here I found a much needed bike pump and got the employee's stamp of approval for it. It only took around 15 minutes and everything was set to go, and gave me some advice on how to avoid this in the future. While it's a bit far from home to make it my regular spot for bike maintenance I'm glad we found it and recommend it to anyone nearby.

And on an on an on an on and on. And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on and on. It was a long time. I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. Going to the bike collective in Rogers Park instead next time.
