Such an amazing event and I am so grateful for all of the hard work that the NV Diabetes Association does for our community. I especially enjoyed talking to some of the vendors who shared about how the association directly impacted them and their experiences with the Association completely changed the trajectory of their lives. I also want to give a special shout out to Emily who was kind enough to share her story and tell me more about the programs. I have so much admiration for her passion and all the work she does throughout the year. Each and every vendor was incredible from the unique cocktails to the delicious food! I especially loved Taylor's enthusiasm at 1864, the lamb lollipops at Reno Bar and grill were cooked to perfection, R Town will always be a pizza favorite, and I can't think of a more balanced sweet treat created by Chef Travis from Centro!! read more

12-6-2023 First time attending event. A big Wow factor for sure-.. It's their seventh year and was impressed with the dedicated community...that are avid supporters... Arrived early and actually was the first ones in will call.. Received several emails prior- stating to arrive to will call at 5:30 to pick up tickets.. I'm not sure what the delay was.. but 5:45 -5:50 finally opened.. Of course the doors open at 6 pm.. Very disorganized at the door- plenty of staff- but no one to lead and have the busy crowd form a line- chaos... Inside venue- very nice and festive decorations- True the silent auction had some decent gifts- and I did bid on a Yeti basket- Vendors -tried some ramen- ijji- Legends wings- and some tacos.. I'm really grateful to the Nevada Diabetes Association for helping me when I was in a difficult situation. I have type 1 diabetes and had been without my Dexcom sensors for almost three months because my doctor's office repeatedly sent my prescription to the wrong suppliers five different times. It was incredibly frustrating and started affecting my health. I reached out to NDA and Emily responded almost immediately and helped me get emergency sensors so I could safely monitor my blood sugar again. I'm really thankful for their support and the work they do for the diabetes community. read more

Another stellar event put on by Nevada Diabetes association, Yelp and Atlantis! The vendors offered great food and drinks as always and were all friendly and enthusiastic. People were dressed to impress and the crowd was enjoying the evening. The crowds didn't seem as large as previous years so the wait times in lines were kept at a minimum. I love going to this Diabetes fund raiser. Winter wonderland is fabulous. There were a lot more drink and food vendors this year. We really enjoyed seeing all the Elites there. All the drinks and food were excellent. They had a photo booth and we had a super time taking photos. I really loved the silent auction. They had some really great items to bid on. I love Nevada Diabetes Association - not only because they throw a great annual party, Winter Wonderland but because of the good deeds they provide for diabetes prevention and diagnosed members. Did you know, 12.4% of Nevada's population has diabetes (from the diabetes facts on NDA's webpage). Diabetes also comes with an assortment of comorbidities (blindness, amputations, heart disease, etc) The good news is that some forms of diabetes are preventable and also can be managed through medication, nutrition and exercise. Had a wonderful supporting NDA at the Atlantis Casino and Spa as I always do in December. It is a yearly, most welcomed event with many of our local favorite restaurants and bars participating for a worthy cause. Everyone was dressed "to the T" in Winter white attire Great music and emcee. Fun raffle. Cool prizes to silently bid on. Loved seeing all of fellow Yelp! friends having a great time and love seeing the community come out on our cold Fall nights to promote NDA and diabetes prevention and treatment. Shout out to IJJI Noodle who had some new ramen recipes that were A+, also India Kabab and Curry who always give to the community. Had some killer tacos from Los 4 Vientos. There were so many participants. And Atlantis provided great service and a beautiful venue for this event! read more

The Winter Wonderland benefitting Nevada Diabetes Association WOW, thank you Yelp for my ticket to this wonderful event! To be honest, until I saw the event on Yelp, I didn't know about it! This was a great avenue to support the Nevada Diabetes Association and to try so many different drinks and treats from local companies. Along with the drinks and food, there were a large number of silent auctions and raffles, also provided by our community along with photo booths and entertainment. A fun event to support a great cause and get into the holiday spirit. It was nice to see so many old and new to me local businesses supporting the Nevada Diabetes Association. I am a long time fan of some of them (Liberty Food and Wine Exchange, India Kabab & Curry, 10 Torr, and Condesa to name a few) and am looking forward to going soon to learning more about the newbies. My favorite bites were the chicken tikka masala and Condesa tacos. Being welcomed with a glass of champagne made me feel special. We had a wonderful evening at the 7th Annual Nevada Diabetes Association Winter Wonderland event at the Atlantis! It was our first time attending and we'll now make sure we attend this delightful fundraiser every year. The ballroom was filled with a festive vibe as guests milled about with smiles and excitement of being there. We truly enjoyed the food from the fantastic community restaurants that offered delicious small bites. Sampling the many offerings was very fun and so tasty! The silent auction had a variety of incredible products from many donors, including Scheels. And we truly enjoyed the hosting talents of their special guest (name?), he is an incredibly talented singer with a dynamic and engaging personality. I was fortunate enough to this wonderful event again!!! From the start to the finish, this was a great charity event to be a part of. Unfortunately my bids were beaten by another donor, congratulations to the people who won the bids with their donations. Diabetes is such a slow disease with takes a part of you in time. I hope whatever we do to find a cure and stamp out this terrible disease is not soon enough. The Winter Wonderland event is as usual top notch! Once we got our wrist bands to enter, we were greeted with champagne, the bidding table was in front and the libations and food was all the supporting cast around the sides surrounding. We were treated to a wide variety of libations and foods from chicken wings to meatballs, street tacos, sushi, ramen, pizza to indian food. They were all fabulous and were great to support this affair. I might mention, this was the first time I have tried ramen and it was wonderfully served by the owner and staff of Ijji noodle house in Reno. The broth for the ramen was stellar! I have told every soul that will listen that they need to secure tickets for next year. The thought and time that went into it was apparent. Winter Wonderland was beautiful! The Winter White theme was so elegant. The UNR Delta Gama Sorority volunteers were all beautiful. Great food. I am definitely going to visit O'Clearys at Legends again. Scoopers mini milk shakes were yummy in the middle of winter. India Kabab&Curry never disappoints. I am going to check out Chop 40 in Verdi for the 1st time soon. Great turn out of some of the best restaurants and drinking establishments that Reno has to offer. Nevada Diabetes Association is an incredible local organization and we were honored to participate in The 2017 Winter Wonderland charity event while supporting a great cause! We were greeted so warmly upon our arrival and the volunteers just continued to make each guest feel special as you enjoyed the night. the room felt vast and open with plenty of space to sit and mingle or stand to enjoy the libations and samplings of various local bites from restaurants. I had the pleasure of trying some places that I have either never had the opportunity of indulging in or only been there once before and now are bookmarked in my trusty Yelp app and look forward to visiting them in the new future. India Kabob & Curry, the Wedge, Feast and Sierra St. Kitchen, Bistro 7, Liberty Food Wine & Exchange, Branded Heart Distillery, Verdi Distillery and what a treat to see Mike from Sierra Tap House plus Bistro Napa we have been many times and has THE best every day happy hour. Nevada Diabetes Association made this a magical evening giving us all an excuse to dress up and open up our hearts and wallets for a worthy charity. For the record and if you were standing next to us, it was my hubby that thought he heard our ticket called for the Grand Prize but sadly and/or mistakenly the wrong number was heard incorrectly or called but either way, the true winner received a phenomenal prize and we were more than happy to donate our time, money and spend quality time with friends and new friends for a top notch evening. What a beautifully swankified event! Winter Wonderland, held in the expansive Grand Ballroom of the Atlantis Casino, was an amazing opportunity to sip unique cocktails, nosh on delectable bites, and support Nevada Diabetes Association, all while strolling through a wonderland of white! Our first bites came from the Atlantis themselves - stuffed chicken wings (!) and prawn spring rolls were both out of this world. Atlantis also had a little cocktail of gelato and liquor that tasted like heaven in a cup. Dessert and a spirit all in one? Count me in! Campo brought their a-game in the form of pork belly (of course!) and the rest of the ballroom was jam-packed with vendors... even Scoopers brought milkshakes! No bite left untouched, and everything was just outstanding. On the spirits side, there were some excellent breweries like Revision and Imbib that gave me some insight into their offerings, and so many local distilleries that were excited to share their vodka, whisky, gin, etc. I wish I had more room to try them all! We also had the opportunity to learn more about Type 1 diabetes and the children that it affects. As a parent myself, this type of knowledge is crucial to understanding treatment and lifestyle changes, should the need ever arise for us or someone we love. Love the Nevada Diabetes Association! Last night (February 27, 2020) was their annual Winter Wonderland event. I was lucky enough to win a ticket to the event. My boyfriend purchased a ticket and it was so worth it! Upon walking up to the event, we were greeted by some volunteers handing out reusable steel cups that had champagne in them! I loved receiving the cup and actually ended up using it the rest of the evening to drink out of, instead of taking the plastic cups some of the vendors were handing out. I'm not sure if it was The Atlantis or the Nevada Diabetes Association that decorated the ballrooms, but the decor was everything wintery wonderful that you could've hoped for! The room was gorgeous! Scheels had donated a lot of items for the Silent Auction. Loved seeing so many wonderful things all donated, and hearing all proceeds would go back to the community was amazing! That really made my heart sing, as did all the quotes around the room that spoke to the work the Nevada Diabetes Association has done. I do wish some of the artists had been named for their artwork. There was one piece that looked like it was a picture of Tahoe. I feel like it so reasonably priced, many people would've just purchased it. All the vendors did such a splendid job and I commend so many of them for being at the event. My boyfriend and I enjoyed interacting with so many of them and they all stood out! The gentleman from Ferino Distillery was so kind! I don't quite remember the liquor we sampled at his booth but Ferino made it an experience where first you spread an oil on your hands and then taste the shot of liquor to up the qualities of it. I know that is a place my boyfriend and I have on our list to check out soon! Basic Batch (I might've gotten than wrong, I lost the business card *sad face*) had the most WONDERFUL cookie dough cupcake! They're an online only store and dang.. that was lovely as was Amy, the owner! It was cool having a burger sample from Burger IM, definitely another place I would like to check out soon! Batch Cupcakery had lavender cupcakes that were divine! I hadn't seen those at their shop before but you can bet I will be back for one of those! SouthCreek Pizza Co. provided samples of their meatballs and chickpea appetizer; both are so flavorful and wonderful. My boyfriend went back for a plate of meatballs. Rue Bourbon had a gumbo that knocked my boyfriend's socks off! (It was a little spicy for me, but I'm a wuss for spice.) Those are only some of the vendors, but they were the ones who stood out most to me. My only complaint (and this is just personal) was there was some very spicey things to sample. Being that I don't have a tolerance for the stuff, that did slightly tarnish the things I sampled. Not the experience or the wonderful kindness of all the vendors. I wish that there had been some choice to opt for something spicy or not. Overall, this event is fantastic! Very friendly people were at all the booths! I would encourage anyone and everyone to go! It's so fun to experience so many different drinks and bites from all over our wonderful community. I found some places I would love to go try. Every penny goes back to the community and I'm so very proud of the Nevada Diabetes Association for this! If you've gotten this far, please do consider going next year. February 8, 2018 Thursday - 6 PM for the event 1 Adult Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - Yelp received some tickets for Winter Wonderland, this was the 2 annual, and I was lucky to receive a ticket. This was the first time I went to a food and adult drink event like this, normally I just hit the beer events. Atmosphere - This year the event was located in one of the conference/ballrooms at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. The room was the perfect size for the event. Food Drinks - I stuck to the local craft beer seen. Starting with Noel (2017) from Brassiere St. James. Lead Dog was present because of SixFour. Matt from IMBIB with three beers on tap and we also had Revision with two taps. Small Bites - Okay my first bite of the night was my favorite too. Campo's pork belly with a drizzle of maple syrup. I had to go back for more. Service The best part about these kind events is being able to talk with the businesses outside their normal environment. It is more conducive to talk with the chefs, brewers, and distillers. A small cross section of businesses but a great cross section. Pro Tip - If you find yourself with a fork and napkin, keep them. Ditch the plate or bowl but keep the fork and napkin. Future - Yes. read more

We were fortunate enough to score some sweet tickets to this event through Yelp (thanks, Michael T.!) and boy, am I glad we did! The theme was Winter Wonderland and they said "Dress to Impress and wear white". I don't take those words lightly, so I brought my A game! Upon entering, the ballroom was decorated exactly like a Winter Wonderland should. It was well laid out with a good amount of food stations as well as drink stations. The center of the room had fabulous auction items to bid on from Disneyland tickets to jewelry and everything in between. I bid on several things, but unfortunately was outbid. To the center/back of the room was a stage where they had a presentation. My favorite thing about the event had to be the vodka luge! We enjoyed the beverage and made new friends while watching everyone else as well! My husband and I got to eat, drink, bid, and be merry for a few wonderful hours. We will definitely be back next year with our without tickets from Yelp! read more

Winter wonderland was such a enjoyable event where my husband and I were able to try many local spirits and restaurants. Also, it is an opportunity for the association to raise awareness and fundraising for this much needed cause. Lots of excellent items to bid on, hoping no one outbids me on my vacation package! Really superb, laid back event to bring friends to raise funds for research and community outreach programs that support individuals that suffer from diabetes. The Association supports those with diabetes through support and services to include an awesome support camp for kids. They hold their annual fundraiser "Winter Wonderland" each February to help raise funds for their critical mission. With regard to their annual fundraiser, my husband and I had the opportunity to attend this year (thanks to yelp!) and what a spectacular evening! We were so honored to have the opportunity to show up and support NDA, but to also get to taste and enjoy local Reno food and drink while showing our support? Win, win in my book! The Winter Wonderland theme made the room and atmosphere absolutely lovely. Tables were draped in white linens and there were sparkly trees and beautiful white feather center pieces throughout the room. It really did feel as if you were in a Winter Wonderland! Big props to Atlantis for hosting. The food was outstanding. Campo's pork belly with maple drizzle over coleslaw took home the best in my book. Chop 40's pulled pork, smoked salmon burgers, and ice cream on a chocolate chip cookie were definitely second. Don't get me wrong, all the food was delicious and it gave us the chance to try out some Reno restaurants/food we haven't had a chance to check out yet. Drinks included a delicious punch from 1864 Tavern (cannot wait to visit for more!), mini martinis from Tahoe Blue vodka (so clever!), and a ton of options from local breweries and local distilleries. My husband loved the whiskeys from Seven Troughs. The silent auction items were so good, but man oh man do you have to act fast on them because they give you the option to "buy it now" and so many people do. Scheels donates incredible items from a kayak and paddle board to bikes and gear. Wow! Most of the restaurants and breweries present at the event also donated gift certificates or gift baskets. We kept getting outbid on the silent auction so we just bought a bunch of raffle tickets. Overall: fantastic event, delicious food, fun drinks, beautiful atmosphere, and great cause. 2017/2/02 I just realized this event was held on the Groundhog Day, that means it will come back again and again year after year, right ? I surely hope so ! We had been anxiously waiting for this day to come after Michael T announced Everyone is A Winner for this event. Many many thanks to Michael T and Nevada Diabetes Association for the free tickets ! Dressing up for any event is always fun and we were advised to do so. Checking-in process was fairly easy and as soon as we entered the venue, truly a Winter Wonderland crowned with a Winter Frozen Queen ! Atlantis Ballroom is very spacious, their set up and placement for the Food, Drinks and Silent Auction area were very well thought out, not to mention high tables and sitting areas throughout the event and also outside of the ballroom. Event had a large crowd, but still with ample room for us to move around sampling food and drinks that were well prepared for the guests, and for us another chance getting to know and chat with fellow yelpers. Great food, drinks, fun, and for a good cause all wrapped in one ... In the quiet of post-holiday Winter Season, I am sure this will become one of our calendar events year after year... Walking in a Winter Wonderland!! What a great night, Let me tell you, the Reno food and drink scene showed up last night!! Everything was AMAZING from the Stinky Cheese...Ewwwww Wheeeeeee, but amazing up close and personal. To the Whisky Brined Pickles. EVERYTHING was AMAZING! I was so impressed. This was also my guys first Yelp event and in his words, It was F#&*ing Great!! India Kabab and Curry Restaurant...MIND BLOWN. I will be having your lunch buffet in the very near future. Branded Hearts...I will be hunting down those pickles brined in your Whiskey...WHAT!!! Feast...I will be feeling fabulous from your Blackberry Basil Martinis. When I first arrived to the Winter Wonderland event to support the Nevada Diabetes Association, I was like a kid in the candy shop! Where to go first? Should I try the many craft beers featured from vendors such as 1864, Revision or IMBIB? Or shall I start collecting small, delectable plates from Campo (the sound of sizzling pork belly was irresistible), the Atlantis (the Asian inspired chicken wing had just enough spice) or Indian Kabob (their small plate amazingly fit five different samplings, plus naan bread!). As we wandered from one booth to the next, people around us were buzzing about trying this, that and the delicious other. We knew we had to try it all! There were a couple of particularly special booths worth mentioning. First, the Verdi Local Distillery whiskey booth that featured such flavors as garlic, bloody mary and lemon. I rather enjoyed the Dog Valley Pine flavored whiskey which I learned is infused with the pine flavor from real pine wood and then aged in stainless steel barrels. Second, the shot of vodka poured over the Diabetes Association ice sculpture was fun too! All and all, my husband and I had grand old time sampling some old local favorites while also learning about a couple of new local venues. I would definitely recommend attending the 2019 Winter Wonderland Diabetes event! Save the date! read more

The Nevada Diabetes Association put on a great event called the Winter Wonderland at the Atlantis Reno on Thursday. It was a fundraiser that definitely brought out the best of the best in Reno, including the guests, the restaurant- and bar-owners, and the food and drinks available at this event. From the point that you walk into the room, you are greeted by people dressed up in white, who represent the theme of the event. Walking through the doors is like walking from one world into another, and the room was vibrant with energy and expectations and tables galore with different foods and drinks and gifts. The centerpiece of the room was a big rounded section cordoned off with tables, laden with raffle gift prizes. Although there are many different types of liquor available, one that I really like in particular was a shot that the Atlantis Reno was providing, and I think you can order this regularly in the Bistro Napa cafe on the second floor. I think it was called The Bistro Shooter, and it was basically an apple pie in a shot glass. Complete with whipped topping. What a dream come true. When you put on a fundraiser, you've got to put on an event that people will talk about long after the event has passed. The Nevada Diabetes Association did just that. The vendors represented a wide variety of Reno/Sparks dining and libations, from casual to elegant, and all presented beautiful bites and creative cocktails. The silent raffle and grand prize raffle were all beautifully presented, and even tho we we're lucky winners, we felt lucky to have participated. The volunteers who graciously gave their time to the event really made guests feel special, and their smiles lit up the room more than the lovely winter decor. Anyone who knows or cares for someone with diabetes knows the challenges the illness creates, and seeing the effort that Nevada Diabetes Association created with this event, and the support of local business for the cause was truly awe-inspiring. The quotes around the room from kiddos that get to go to summer camp as a result of this fundraiser went straight to the heart. Mark your calendars for next year, this event shouldn't be missed! read more

This evening the Nevada Diabetes Association put on a fundraiser called Winter Wonderland 2018 at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino. The room was decked out with glittery white and crystal embellished trees throughout, bar height tables with white table cloths and snow-white centerpieces. Local bakeries, restaurants, breweries and distilleries all participated in the event providing food and cocktail pairings. In the center of all of this, silent auction tables were set up with many donated gifts from local artists and shops . It was fun browsing through the items and vying for the top bidding spot of the things that I wanted . It was an exhilarating experience. Not to mention... It's for charity! read more

It is not often I get to get dressed up in a beautiful dress and jewelry. This was truly a memorable night. It hits close to home because Peter has diabetes. The food was fantastic as was the beverages. It was great to see my fellow yelper friends, Linda, ly, Donna and Angela. What a wonderful event. Five star all alone. The venue was perfect, from the food to the drinks and the room from the Atlantis. So many people dresses up in the Winter White theme, though it was still warm outside, it felt like a winter wonderland inside. Thank you Yelp and Atlantis for our free tickets. As always such a wonderful night at this fundraiser. Yelp hooked it up with the tickets as usual. Always taking care of ya girl here. Thanks Guys :) We started off with the peppermill table and their special cocktail with ice cream and liquor. Wow - impressed. The pork belly and meatballs were delicious. I especially liked that we could watch them cook and season it at the table. A lot of the local breweries had tables and featured a new or favorite beer. Lets talk about SixFour Growlers and the peanut butter stout or vanilla peanut butter or whatever that was. I don't even know I was so excited I couldn't even think to write down the name or snap a photo. SO GOOD. Jersey Mikes -- Of course, every year they come through and hook it up with the cold cut subs. YUM. I ended up winning a smart football at the silent raffle. Who knew they had such a thing. How cool - they called me and I went down to the Diabetes Association and picked it up. As always... Tahoe Vodka impresses with an ice sculpture luge for pouring shots. Ok I SEE YOU. Love the photo booth, I have so many great photos from Yelp events. it's always special to capture these moments and remember the awesome Reno Yelp nights. Indian and Kabob was there too --- if you remember, I'm sure you do, the even at their restaurant, they sure remembered us. Always great to see familiar faces and network with people that have a love of local food and businesses and can come together to support a great cause like the NV Diabetes Association. Live music. Fun evening with a Winter Wonderland theme even while we are currently experiencing a Winter Wonderland in the BLC!! Great show of people for this inaugural benefit for a grand cause. It was nice to see all the local support in vendor booths and silent auction donations for the Nevada Diabetes Association. If you want to support them in their efforts, be sure to patronize and say thank you to Feast, The Liberty Exchange, 1864 Tavern, the Atlantis, Kimmie Candy Co., See See Motor/Coffee Shop, Rawbry, Indian Kabab & Curry, Verdi Local Distillery, Branded Hearts Distillery, Batch Cupcakery, Jersey Mike's and Delicious Designs are all that I can remember...and I think there is a list of vendors on the Nevada Diabetes Association Facebook page. There were tasty meats, savory and sweet treats, beer, wine, and specialty cocktails...truly a delight for anyone not concerned with calories or carbs. Ironically, it was probably not the best food and drink set up for someone coping with diabetes. Just a note for future reference. The setup and decor made it easy to mingle and move about the room. The music and lights were very enjoyable. The most entertaining part of the night was the TapSnap photo booth where you could take a photo with a large green screen with nearly as many friends as you like, and then choose your background and special effects! The images could be printed and emailed and shared on social media. I truly hope the night was successful for the Nevada Diabetes Association as I will look forward to coming back next year and bringing many more friends with me! read more

It's was mine and my girlfriends first time going and we had so much fun. This was the best line up of food and drinks. They had everything from milkshakes to beer to kick you in the ass mix drinks..lol... and the food was ranged from Indian to sub sandwiches to fresh cheese with pesto (my fave) and so on.... meet some nice people and would love to go again. read more
