This month the focus was on St Vincent's Dining Hall. They are feeding more people than ever and they need our help. I am a firm believer that in the USA no one should go hungry, unfortunately that is not the case. Next month I will donate to the food bank. We dropped off about 30 hand made blankets to them so they could disseminate them out to those who need them the most in our community. As we were inside the building I saw 2-3 women come in and get pampers and an additional infant type related supplies at no charge. I was very happy to see there was a place such as this & in this area of town to help what is inevitably the children of our community. I would recommend volunteering here and/or donating whatever you can from your time, talents and goods. As citizens of this wonderful place we call Reno I can't think of a better way than to give back to an organization that is doing their best to support our local women and children!

One of my several Veteran friends who lives in Reno came upon some hard times, including losing his job due to his military Service connected disabilities and he was worried about being evicted from his apartment. I told him about this place, we arranged an appointment for him on Wednesday, 1 November 2023 at 0900, and for him to drive us to and from then. The person who answered the phone at this Nation's Finest location wouldn't tell us their name, nor the name of the person they made the appointment with. We showed up for the appointment only to be told we had no appointment and they couldn't help us. They made another appointment for us Wednesday, 15 November 2023 at 1000, but wouldn't tell us the name of the person they made the appointment with. We asked to use the bathroom and the person pointed to a sign "No Public Bathrooms". We said we were NOT public, that we were there for an appointment. We were still denied the use of the bathroom. Having ready access to clean, safe public restrooms is vital part of personal and public health. Adequate public restrooms are fundamental to human dignity, and are especially critical for people like my husband, a Veteran (and other Veterans, especially the elderly ones like me) with military Service-connected Agent Orange-related prostate damage requiring him to have frequent access to a bathroom. The place was dirty. We went downstairs to the advertised Pantry and Resource Center, which also has signs "No Public Bathrooms" posted. A woman barked at us demanding to see our Veterans ids. There were six spaghetti squash and NO other food. We were told we could only take one squash. We asked about cooking utensils and winter clothes, gloves, hats, and boots and were told none are available. The place was dirty. We showed up for the next appointment only to be told the person we had an appointment with was not available and that AGAIN they couldn't help us. There were still signs stating "No Public Bathrooms". The place was still dirty. We went downstairs to the advertised Pantry and Resource Center, which also has signs "No Public Bathrooms" posted. A woman again barked at us demanding to see our Veterans ids. There were a very limited supply of some canned goods and NO other food. We were told we could only take one can of each item letting us take only four cans. What an amazing group of ladies and staff!…read more When I learned our elementary school wouldn't have Boys & Girls Club over the summer, I was a bit frantic in searching for camps and activities to keep the kids busy over the summer. I saw a post for CLC on our school's Facebook page and reached out. I signed the kids up for two weeks in mid and late July. But they had so much fun we signed up for another week. Stacy and Jackie are so helpful, took care in navigating my kids' egg and peanut allergy, and were excellent at communicating with me. It's very obvious they truly care about the kids. Not only is the summer camp reasonably priced, but the kids had a ton of fun, and I felt confident they were safe under Stacy and Jackie's care. Highly recommended! We will be back next summer!

The Community Life Center (or CLC if you are lucky to be a part of their family) is not just a…read morecommunity center. They are there for families, children, and people of all ages and walks of life. If you have a young child that need before and after school care, they can help. If you have a teenager who needs a place to go and be focused to do distanced learning, they can help. Or even if you have a middle schooler who needs a safe and inclusive environment after school a few days a week, they have that too. Every day is a fun, exciting, loving day for my kids at this center. Not only are they able to be their quirky selves (let's face it, all middles schoolers are) but I know they are safe. I know I can finish my work day and have piece of mind that they were in a good environment while I navigate through these times. If you are looking for a place for your child to go please give them a try. It truly is a community that every child should get to experience. A chance to be a part of a family outside of their own. A place that will give them a sense of belonging when so many things in their life are wonky and inconsistent. Enrolling my children here was the best thing I ever did, for us as an entire family.

Arrived early and actually was the first ones in will call.. Received several emails prior- stating to arrive to will call at 5:30 to pick up tickets.. I'm not sure what the delay was.. but 5:45 -5:50 finally opened.. Of course the doors open at 6 pm.. Very disorganized at the door- plenty of staff- but no one to lead and have the busy crowd form a line- chaos... Inside venue- very nice and festive decorations- True the silent auction had some decent gifts- and I did bid on a Yeti basket- Vendors -tried some ramen- ijji- Legends wings- and some tacos.. Great to see the fellow Yelpers too! Glad we were able to help and donate..
