Great acts, great location, lousy venue. Neumos is Seattle's premier Indie music concert hall in the heart of Seattle's indie neighbourhood. Lots of great acts--big and small--play here. Unfortunately, the space is simply not very good. As someone over 21, the setup for all ages shows make it almost not worth it to see a show here. Adults are given the shaft by being either all the way in the back, or all the way upstairs in the bar. Either way, you can't see a thing. The building is smelly and dirty. The floor is flat, so short people can't enjoy the show. The bartenders are not very friendly. As much as I am dogging the venue, it would be very sad to see this place go the way of the Croc. To me, Neumos is Seattle. read more

We attended the Candi Pop event this evening, and we had a great time at the venue! The bar services were efficient, and the drinks were tasty. The upstairs space was cool and definitely the spot for the people who don't want to dance. The only drawback is the lack of ventilation. One dude farted near us, and the odor hung in the air for several minutes. Highly recommend this venue and the Candi Pop series. So fun! read more

Neumos - Balloon reads "So Fetch." Mean Girls played behind the DJ all night. - Music Venues Near Me - Seattle, Washington

This place is awesome. I like it - it's down-to-earth and real. The people who own/run it are cool. They have great shows (avoid the all-ages ones) and host cool parties there. The sound is actually decent too. A definite must for a concert venue. And to boot, they are very easy to work with in terms of renting the space, they have all the necessary amenities for a great concert or party - and they are gracious and generous when it comes to working with charitable causes. :) High five to socially conscious businesses. Plus - the drinks are well made there - good and strong. None of that half an ounce saving a buck cheap attitude. The staff/bartenders are cool and friendly too. read more

I popped in last night for Dudefest 2012 and it was actually my first time in Neumos. In terms of a music venue, this place is awesome. I haven't spent enough time seeing bands play in smaller venues. So intimate, plus all the other benefits of Neumos. They have a sweet little bar adjacent to the stage and an upper area to hang out. After a concert you're just a few paces away from Moes Bar. What more do you want?? read more

We came here for the first time for the Decibel festival, (yes, I know the irony is not lost on me), but seriously - - this sound system, although sick, is waaaayyyyy too big for it's britches. We had to enjoy the show from waaaayyyy back. I love feeling bass, don't get me wrong, it's just too much for me eardrums. They seem to bring in the good shows, the drinks were good, people got down (and it does get pretty toasty), there is a totally amazing Fish and Fry next door (yeah!) and I liked the set up. ALL OF THAT BEING SAID...IF NEUMO'S GAVE OUT FREE EARPLUGS AND INSTALLED MORE CEILING FANS, THEY'D BE GOLDEN. read more

Neumos is a pretty fun venue. Acceptable bars and friendly bartenders make it easy to get a drink. I don't usually get complicated cocktails at shows. The speakers are alright and the rest rooms aren't super gross which is mostly what I care about when it comes to venues. It's not extraordinarily clean and you might slip/stick to the floor a little, and it also gets uncomfortably hot sometimes for me. Other than that I think the experience depends on the crowd and band mostly. Check your coat at home or wear something light and don't fall down and you'll have a good time! Just don't come expecting something fancy I guess. read more

This place is made for bands like Neurosis who we came to see this NYE ! I've played at venues like it and have seen shows at countless venues since my youth and Neumos is a great space. It has a decent size stage, good sound, enough bathrooms, a couple of bars, a good sized floor and seating areas. To me, it is a great venue and I'm sure I'd frequent there if only I lived in Seattle. Kudos to Neumos ! read more

I don't know what to say about Neumos. It's sorta dirty, but that's to be expected. The sound isn't great, but that's to be expected. I've seen a lot of music here over the years, so I guess I have a sentimental feeling about it. read more

This is the perfect place to see bands in my opinion. Not too big, not too small, full bar, great sound. I don't know why people complain about the staff here. I mean seriously you really got your feelings hurt because a security guard didn't trip all over himself to make you feel welcome? That's not their job kids, their job is to make sure people with expired IDs don't get in so this great club doesn't get shut down. If you ever get a chance to see one of your favorite bands here do not pass it up! The best concerts I've ever seen have been at Neumo's. P.S. They've got air conditioning now you whiners! read more

WOW My dear beautiful Seattle are you spoiled! I attended rainfest here during may. Went to this venue for three straight days and it provided one of the best experiences I have ever had. The first day was a little hard to get in as there was some confusion with the lines and tickets but the security actually handed this pretty well. Going in, the venue wasn't top notch clean because well its a venue but it was clean enough. id consider this a mid size venue that gives you a pretty intimate show. it had enough space for 7-10 bands to set up their merch. The dance floor was nice and spacey to give room for everyone to hit each other when freedom played their FREEEEDOM SLAAAAM! The stage is amazing! tall enough to see from the back and small enough to hit those stage dives. Also your neck wont hurt from trying to watch an artist (the complex slc) The acoustics were pretty good. I mean it was a hardcore festival but it still sounded pretty good specially when I compare it to the 50+ venues ive been to! The next two days were even better! the line went through with a breeze and there were no problems going. When all out war started their set my mind left my body and my shoulder its socket! Once security realized i dislocated my shoulder they escorted me outside and gave me a free water! really nice people that seem to actually care about your safety! WOW! After the show and during the security were also giving free water to everyone. FREE i have heard of no such concept in utah! the next day was about the same but all of security asked me how my shoulder was going and it i felt better, wait what security asking about my safety? overall i was impressed and had the best three days of my life here. thank you neumos i wish we had clones of you back home. read more

The feel of the venue is pretty intimate. The room main floor itself is pretty spacious, but feels just right once the show starts. I had a great time seeing Beardyman last weekend. Drinks were reasonably priced for being a concert venue located in this part of town. There's a secluded pay to park lot down a side street if you can't find street parking (which proved difficult for me). There is an upstairs lounge section with a couple of tables and chairs but i wasn't keen on staying up there long as it was much hotter than the floor level and smelled like straight B.O. This would be the perfect size venue to see lesser known acts/musicians that you're into as it's a small venue and has an intimate feel. The sound quality doesn't suffer as a result of that either. The 32 oz hugo sized Red Stripe bottles earn an honorable mention because they are a good beer for a show. The narrow neck and stubby body of the bottle means you spill less when dancing/thrashing/skanking/whatever. read more

I really love this venue - decent sound, lots of bars, walking distance from my pad. That said what is up with the Seattle music scene? I posted on the talk threads a few months ago and got reamed for denigrating the "scene": http://www.yelp.com/topic/seattle-come-on-seattle anyway, sold out show, Sat night - no reason to leave early. I've seen shows here ranging from Jenny Lewis to Dirty Projectors, The Elected to Head Like a Kite. They always have someone great on their schedule, and thankfully a lot of the shows are 21+. (I'm sorry, kiddos, but overzealous high schoolers can really ruin a show.) There is a large main floor with a bar to the left of the stage, as well as a balcony and seating area with its own bar. I haven't stayed up there for very long during shows, but tons of people do, so I assume they can see and hear the music well. I'm pretty short (5'2), so I wish the floor was sloped, or something, but I can usually squeeze through the crowd to a spot where I can see. read more

What a classic NW Rock Room. This has instantly become my favorite rock joint. What a weird place when you first walk in. I hear music, I've got a couple of ways to go. Don't know where I am going so I follow my ear. Kick it upstairs and there is a nice bar, decent beers, premiums, cheap cans, and cocktails. There are a couple of just regular rooms with tables for chilling upstairs as well outside the bombastic PA system. There is also a little balcony for watching the gig. Get there early for prime spots or be tall. Downstairs, big open floor space, fantastic PA system but I don't recommend standing in their direct path or your ears will break. Bars on the first floor too. The bar staff works steady and efficiently keeping you quenched while sweating as the place starts to jump. Awesome venue. Great place to see gigs. Rock on. Came in to see Ok Go. We were in town and wanted to see some live music on a Friday night and thanks to Stub Hub this is where we landed. Bartenders were great and we appreciated the coolers iof water since the balcony (which is close to the bar) was stifling hot. I'd give them 5 stars for being a nice venue for original acts where you want the dive feel but with a clean bathroom IF they'd put some huge ass fans on the balcony so us 21+ fans weren't so flipping hot up there. read more

Neumos - Music Venues Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Neumos makes me feel old. I mean, writhing on a filthy floor at the age of 25 doesn't seem so great a decade or so later, even with plenty of alcohol. That being said, the acts that Neumo's brings in are sometimes close to awesome and the ticket prices can't be beat. I've seen many shows here and enjoy the smaller venue feel, although when it's packed it's downright unbearable. Where's the AC? Does management want us to take ALL of our clothes off? The acoustics are great, the drink prices reasonable. The bar doesn't serve wine, but Moe's is good for that. Neumos, you know I'll be back. read more

Nice size venue, came for the Eldridge Gravy & the Court Supreme show/Good Company, Jan 2016. The show was extremely packed but they DIDNT open the upper loft area which sucked honestly it was a bit too busy. Sound was good, staff/security were very friendly and made us feel welcomed. Over all attitude was great, which set up for an amazing night. The major con being hardly no where to sit down so we went to the bar next door to drink before the show and during the show. We would have bot drinks inside but there were not nearly enough table and not to mention the only table/seats where up and in terrible view if there was one. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. As a group we spent close to $120 in drinks that night, next door not at Neumos. Please give you guests some high top tables or something so we can take breaks and enjoy drinks and spend more time at the show or well just keep going next door. Id like to think a spot to sit for a moment and rest my heels isn't much to ask. Anyone knows is Neumos owns the bar they share a wall/ interior door with? Just curious. read more

What a spacious, fun and dark venue. If I lived in Seattle, it's certain this is where I would go to see shows. Plus they've got a coat check! Each item checked for only $1 ! And, an area upstairs with tables to sit! Also, it's right next door to a place that is opened way late and has THE BEST fish taco I think I've ever had. And, there ARE ins-and-outs, so you can have a drinky and in between sets go and grab a taco. Then go back for more drinks and jams. So on and so forth. This pattern makes for a fun night! read more

I've never been a big fan of all ages venues, but I tolerate them out of charity to music lovers under the age of 21. Usually if I don't actually have to interact with a bunch of wannabe hipster high school kids. The bars was decent, and the view of the stage pretty good, but only because the place was pretty dead upstairs, even though it was 11 pm on a Friday. Having a bar close at midnight is kind of jarring if you're not prepared for it, as it adds a Footloose "No Dancing, Drinking or Staying Up Too Late" vibe to the evening. PBR tall boys are the same price as water downed mixed drinks. And the band listened to waaay too much Tool. Not in a good way. read more

First of all, long-ass venue name.....Just known as Neumo's. Anywho, LOVE LOVE LOVE this place, especially since the setup has changed. I was here once a few years back for a DnB show, but came back a couple times to see Sky Cries Mary and also some other band, and it's really enjoyable. I tend to lounge around upstairs unelss I am dying to be on the dancefloor. Big bar in a seperate area which always tends to be crowded, small bar upstairs along with unisez 1-stall bathrooms (ew!) which is kind of a turn-off. But going around and sitting on the side, overlooking the dancefloor is nice, but that, too, can get crowded. Usually I am there to see the act, so I'm on the spacious dancefloor (which doesn't feel so spacious when you have a lot of people) I will return! read more

Finally, a Seattle venue where people actually DANCE. Everywhere else I've been, it's been like a fucking middle school dance: girls on one side, boys on the other, some stoic head-bobbing to the music. But people were getting DOWN here. It was all ages (ugh), but the 21+ segregation was quite bearable. The staff was friendly, the drinks were strong, and some girl actually held my broken bathroom stall door shut for me. Girls are notorious bitches in bar bathrooms, so that made a big impression. Sure, it's sort of a dive, but it's a fun dive. Plus, you can't deduct stars because you're too short to see. Survival of the fittest, yo! Lucky for me, I'm 5'9" in shoes. Also, the floor bounces. Wee! read more

I've never been a huge fan of this place. I like it during the block party because I'm usually pretty liquored up and ready for a good time by the time I get in. I've seen some good shows here. Having been to shows here for years, I'm surprised at how hit-and-miss the security staff is. Some are great, and some are unproductively aggressive in their treatment of the venue's customers. Rather than deescalate situations, a couple of the more junior security staff are really eager to put fuel on the fire. Recently, a security lady with some piercings was very quick to anger as she went from initially thanking my friend to kicking him out in the span of a few sentence exchange. After my friend requested to speak with a manager, a younger looking security guy wearing a fishing hat (?) got close up in my friend's face and threatened to ban him permanently. Fortunately, when we did find the security manager, he was a level headed guy and was willing to patiently listen to my friend's complaint. I believe I saw the same manager a few years ago when he brought out some free bottled water to a different friend of mine outside the venue when he was over-served at the venue. So anyway, I want to give kudos to the good security here (particularly the manager), and maybe the bad / less-experienced security can get some re-training or anger management classes or something. read more

Great venue, very intimate! As with any other place, being short doesn't work to your advantage--but that's to be expected. The floor is a bit too "springy" for my liking when people get worked up over a band, but it's probably safe. Right? read more

Came to Neumos for the first time to watch Aziatix and New Heights perform. The show was great since these two groups are AMAZING...however, the venue itself wasn't. I know most clubs aren't always "up to par" on some cleanliness and the way it looks, but come on...does it have to keep it's smell, and the restroom is atrocious and whenever you see graffiti left on the walls or doors, it makes the place much more ghetto. I'm not a high maintenance sort of chick, but still...there's got to be some sort of standard that this place should have. The Bartenders were friendly when making and serving drinks to you, however, the drinks were a bit weak, however, the Long Island Ice tea was good, and at least it wasn't too expensive, as well as the admission to come and see the shows, but lucky for me, I won 2 tickets to the show. I went here for the first time last night for the Gary Numan show. I checked out the reviews in advance and was prepared for the heat and made a wise decision to leave my jacket in the car. I noticed the heat immediately upon entering, but found that it didn't really get much more intense at all later, then again it was a sold out show and there wasn't much room to move around and work up a sweat.. although I did see many sweaty guys wandering around after. My friend and I were pleased to see the free water and cups supplied upstairs! Very handy. And it seemed like there was a really great view of the stage. A lot of small tables and chairs were placed around the sides. We watched from below on the main floor and thankfully I wasn't stuck behind any tall people! Yay! However, someone in front of us must have had some bad clams for dinner because their gas was so awful that you could see a wave effect of people covering their noses and frowning as it traveled through the crowd. Naaaaaaaaasty! The sound was great! The lighting was great! Even the crowd wasn't too bad compared to the asshole crowd I usually encounter at Vancouver shows. read more

Neumos...always throwing good shows, parties, and just about every night! I really like this venue because its location is great (especially if you live in the Capitol Hill area) because it's central, easy to get to, and there are many streets to find parking on (although not always easy). The venue isn't the largest in Seattle, but it's really great, especially since it has a balcony overlooking the stage upstairs and because Moe Bar is next door and there is a bar (sometimes two) during shows inside the venue. The sound is good, there is room in the back to dance if you'd like, and the bars serve everything from PBR to liquor. The bathrooms aren't sparkling, but they do just fine and aren't as dirty as other music venues in the city. I would recommend going to a show here! Great for smaller, more intimate shows! read more

Nice relatively small venue for a concert with a reasonable layout. Saw Yelle here, it was fun, and parking was pretty quick and painless. Update: went to an Ingrid Michaelson concert here. Vertically-gifted people seemed to have tweeted a flash mob, strategically positioned to block my view while they all swayed back and forth in the middle of the crowd. Sh*t like this makes me want to open a club where everyone is required to sit/stand by height --that, or require people to sit, like Triple Door's setup. While Neumos is semi-small and cozy, making for better performer-audience rapport, its layout still doesn't lend itself to the mantra of "not a bad seat in the house," especially if you're on the ground floor rather than watching from the side banisters and upper deck bit. Parking was still relatively painless the second time around. read more

This is a cool venue. Very spacious.. The few times I've been there I didn't notice any problems with their sound system. Only thing I don't really like is that it seems you can only get drinks from the bar upstairs and can't bring them down. They have a balcony area to watch from above but it's real narrow so once it gets filled up you're kinda screwed. So make sure if you want to drink to get all that out the way at Moe Bar next door prior to seeing whatever show you're there for. I went and saw Ryan Leslie before as well as YG. If you're into hip hop and R&B they usually have some good acts on their calendar. Also a pretty good location right next to a lot of other bars in Capitol Hill. read more

Why does this place get such a bad rap ? It's large , it's dirty, they serve cheap alcoholic beverages and have great bands , it's the epitome of the Seattle night life. giving this venue a bad revue is like saying you don't like all the slot machines, boozing and women in short cocktail dresses hanging out in the foyer of the MGM grand in Las Vegas ? Gritty clubs like this define a musical generation. You take away from this utterly disgusting charm , and you have a a swanky L.A hot spot that men in orange tans frequent to sip on Amstel light and pick up on chicks named Tami who are attending a concert of a band she's never heard of , not interested in , and wouldn't in a million years dance to because she's wearing 4 inch stilleto's read more

Small venue that's ideal for intimate viewings with the performer. There are no seats so be warned - ladies in high heels expect to be standing for a few hours! The ventilation is pretty poor. It steamed up like a sauna pretty quick especially with all the bodies in such close proximitey of each other. There is a 2nd floor that overlooks the entire 1st floor, but if you're at a show and you're not directly at the railing, good luck tryin to get a decent view of the stage. No glitz or glamour here: 1 small stage, a few stage lights and a lot of open space. read more

This is a great venue especially for 21+ shows. One of the best parts is all the bars so getting a drink is relatively easy and quick. Not only are there 2 full attached bars to the venue, one on the right and one downstairs, but there is one right by the floor in the venue and another up in the balcony. Are the drinks over priced? Yes of course it's a music venue...in downtown all places showing entertainment over charge. The balcony is cool. It over looks the floor and stage if you don't want to be down below and there's plenty of seats and tables if your not into watching one of the bands. Yes this place is not as clean as the Moore or paramount, but it's a score better than some venues I've been in. I thought the staff was great. Sometimes at music venues (especially in hipster northwest) you get the "we're too cool for our own good" staff, but I didn't get any vibes like that here. The bouncer checking id's was friendly and talkative. The bartender remembered our order after just the first round. Even the ticket taker with a lip plate, giant ear gauges, and full Maori warrior face tattoos was nice. Sound was good, not amazing but good. I'll definitely add neumos to my regular list of concert going. read more

Was here for a Digable Planets show, because I funk like that. I really, really wanted to like this place. I love small venues, good vibe, low-key but still rockin'. But the HEEAAAT totally killed it. My friend literally fainted while we were waiting in the front because of the heat. And I tell you, she only had 1 shot and a beer in her...so definitely wasn't have natural dehydration. Definitely, a health concern here! Bring your water bottles and mini fans people! On the plus side, the door bouncers were SUPER SUPER helpful unlike places in LA or SF. They helped us carry my friend out, cleared the door way and even got 2 bottles of water for us (without charge). Although, something tells me this happens a lot and to ensure they don't get sued - they're trained to do so. Nonetheless, y'all need to fix the ventilation or something. Health hazard. read more
