After picking up my PC and booting it up back home, I notice that there is a new icon in my taskbar that is their company logo (if you hover your mouse over it, it shows SCG Technologies along with their contact information). Not once was I informed by the employees themselves that they would be installing this onto my PC. If it was hidden in the lengthy agreement they have you sign when you bring in your PC, then that is shady and feels unethical. They tell you its the normal contract about ensuring your computer is safe and gives them the right to log into your computer. A little bit of research tells me that it's SyncroMSP. Everything I look up regarding SycnroMSP makes it seem more like it's used for business IT and not just some random home PC. SyncroMSP is called a remote monitoring and management (RMM) tool. It can do a whole lot more than just monitor hardware, it allows the person controlling it complete access to your computer, they can run commands on it in the background, access files on it, remotely control it and see what's on the screen. Luckily I was able to remove it myself, but it still felt like a invasion to my privacy.
