Missing my Chinese food fix, I stopped into Nest Cinese restaurant for a light lunch: some chicken, corn & egg drop soup and an order of shrimp dumplings (haw gow).
The soup was exactly what I wanted because it's cold here in Rome.
The light stock broth was slightly thickened, diced pieces of chicken, corn and strands of scrambled egg. The shrimp dumplings were yummy; they were €6 for 5, pricey for me who comes from the San Francisco Bay Area where we have an abundance of dim sum takeout and some eat in places. Rome doesn't have much in the way of dim sum!
That's the reason why Nest Cinese can charge a little higher. There's a woman making the dumplings (which are described as raviolis for Italians to comprehend) fresh in the window.
Fresh dumplings are treat! They were really tender and the shrimp was just cooked...nice!
There are other items (noodles and rice) I will have to return to try. They do take out too!
Great location just on a corner of Piazza Farnese. Nest is definitely on my list of places to eat when an alternative to pasta and pizza is desired.
The second test was ordering fried rice for dinner.
They had a mixed fried rice with proscuitto, shrimp, diced carrots and green peas in black rice (riso venere). Yummy! read more
