Located just a bit outside of Rome, this place is huge. Story goes that the building was built to be a downtown check-in facility for the airport...but that plan never came to fruition. The building also houses an apartment ik I believe it is their biggest location with three floors of food and a restaurant on each floor. There's a fourth floor that houses offices on one side and a big kitchen designed for cooking class on the other. We went to eat on the restaurant located on the first floor. Featuring crafted beers, the restaurant also had an assortment of plates like: burgers and pasta. As an appetizer, we got a cheese and meats platter. The platter was huge! It featured several kinds of cheeses and three different kinds of prosciutto. For main course, we got the burger that came with a fried egg and the caccio e pepe pasta. The food was good but after the appetizer platter of cheeses and ham, we should've stopped. We were both stuffed halfway thru the main course. Service was ok, sort of being back in miami but they spoke Italian instead of English.

My jaw dropped when my Roman hosts took me to Eataly. There is, simply, nothing like this in any place I've ever been. If Italy is the Mecca of good food that some people (myself included) believe it to be, then Eataly is this holy Kabba in the middle of it. There is everything you'd ever want to eat in this three story complex. Fresh cheeses and meats, fresh roasted coffee, wines to swoon over and pay 78 Euro to ship back to Berkeley... fresh produce and a few restaurants that cook it up for you, right then and there. Jams and other condiments! Natural soaps! Anything you'd ever want to eat to feel indulgent and healthy and honoring of your body as this great place to keep edible things. Do not go to Rome without stopping in. Bring a spare suitcase.

Eataly. Eataly. Eataly. This gem was on my list of places I had to visit during my trip to Italy. The location was a bit sketchy and that played out exactly as I'd expect. Our rental car was broken into and there was nothing we could do according to the police in the area. But we didn't see that happening. So after spending an hour or so in Eataly we came out devastated with our purchases to an empty vehicle. While inside of Eataly and before finding out the rental car had been broken into we were completely amazed by every corner of the market. Grocery style setup with several restaurants on the second floor to satisfy whatever you were feeling for. We purchased many items. Dry foods, cured meats, cheese, wines, books, you name it. We decided to pick up some souvenirs both to keep forever and some to fill our stomachs and keep a little piece of Italy in our minds. Besides the location, Eataly is definitely a awesome place to grab some groceries or sit down for a nice lunch.

There are 3 floors with vendors of all kinds of artists. The floors have everything from pasta to olive oil, beer, wine, fish, cheese, beef, etc. It's a mecca of Italy. You can try all sorts of food but be prepared to purchase what you try. You can try all sorts of different foods, from different regions and have a good read, or coffee.

#175-2016: During our last stay in Rome we had decided to NOT cook at home (even though we rented a fully equipped apartment), but we needed to bring back some edible goods for my train-ride sickened daughter so, we crossed Piazza Partigiani, used the underpass from Stazione Ostiense and shopped at Eataly Rome. To be it is a street market on steroids, with all things food that foodies would love and get lost in. There are plenty (overpriced) appliances, knick knacks and futile utensils. But what makes this place a hell/purgatory/Heaven for all culinary lovers are the fresh, unique and (not strangely) pricey food you may find. Neatly divided (among several floors) according to food groups (veggies/fruits, cheese/meat) this place is run like a big dollar-making extremely well oiled machine. Vendors lure you into dropping your average (steamed) ham to purchase the oven roasted ham (which preserves the flavors but also costs a lot more). The breads are freshly baked mostly with pasta madre. The endless displays of fresh pasta is making you want to rethink the whole "let us not cook" deal you have made... There also is an ATM machine right in the spank middle of the ground floor so, those who want to pay cash and wanna say "oooops, wallet's empty" are tough out of luck. Thankfully this location (unlike the Milan one) hasn't turned an iconic Theater (Teatro Smeraldo, Milano) into a foodies mecca. Nonetheless, I started getting anxious and somewhat panicky at one point due to the large crowds around me. That, and a few minor things, prevent me from assigning a full 5-star-review.

I'm a real fan of anywhere you can go and eat and purchase delicacies. We entered this huge market and decided we'd stay and have lunch. Our first offerings consisted of several Italian beers. I enjoyed the Peroni on draft. We ordered a plate of meat and cheese that consisted of some great salami's. I then went to another stand and ordered a fried calamari, shrimp and fish plate. It was huge and tasted great with the beer. We got lucky and found a seat at the bar, this place is filled with regulars and tourists alike. It's a must visit for tourists into food.

We stopped by Eataly just to explore and to try some of their food. I'm not kidding when I say that their pasta was some of the best (if not THE best) we had during our entire two week trip to Italy. The carbonara and gnocchi with pesto were amazing. The pasta was fresh and cooked just right. I feel like a lot of the top reviewed restaurants in Rome (and Italy in general) are tourist traps. This was not one of those. Great food with zero frills. Don't come here for the ambiance!

Eataly is a great place to spend a afternoon or evening--there's so much to see and eat! We had a bit of a time trying to find it. Turns out it's directly outside the Piramide metro station...the trick is you have to take exist 15a for XII Ottobre 1492. We finally ended up there and didn't see it because the sign is way up high--look up! If you're planning to eat a meal there (which you should), make sure you scope out all the options before committing. There are so many great options. Or, do a progressive dinner so you can hit up more of the little restaurant areas. Besides all the options for stuffing your face right then and there, this is a great place to buy gifts for all the foodies in your life. Or just people you know who like to eat food. They really have everything, from cookbooks and kitchenware to cured meats, seafood, pastas, jams, olive oil, vinegars, etc. It would take the better part of a day to go through the whole store properly. Make sure you grab an ice cream bar on the way out...I had pistachio dipped in dark chocolate with sprinkles. The gelato was creamy and flavorful, the chocolate shell was thin and crisp, and the sprinkles were crunchy--perfetto!

We did a thorough tour of the restaurant offerings before settling on the rotisserie section. We had the chicken rolled in pancetta strips and the porchetta- both served with crispy cubed potatoes. That was an unforgettable lunch, an incredibly satisfying and filling meal that necessitated a stroll through the building before returning to our car. Despite the busy lunch rush and our difficulty in finding seats, we got our food in a surprisingly short 5 minutes. However, the wait staff was not the friendliest I've seen. As for the grocery section, I've heard great things from locals. I appreciate the care taken to ensure the quality presentation of its products.

Shopping IS great at Eataly. Its impressive, it looks good and its a bit overwhelming. And as a tourist its hard not to just grab everything and bring it home. I wouldn't know if everything is good, and to me it doesn't seem pricy. But that depends on where you come frome I guess. I got away with only buing a lot of 'fagiolo' (beans) and some pasta. And a few other bits and pieces. Before shopping we had beer at the beer place on 2nd floor and afterwards dinner on 3rd. Beer I would definitely come back for - the selection was impressive and it was hard to chose. I had a ginger saison that was fantastic! Dinner was more like 'meh'. My sons had the mussels, they were delish. But the rest was so-so. But 5 starts for the shopping experience.

Funny to come to Eataly while we were in Italy! Three floors of EVERYTHING ITALIAN!! So much to look at and so many options for dining as well! Clean and organized store! read more
Half Half Winter, which is an unexpected combination of hot chocolate (the dense kind) and espresso frappe. It's a brilliant drink for the in between October weather. Love the space, it's one of the largest Eataly I have ever visited. (Been to Genoa, Florence, Toronto). Worth the visit. read more

If I am taking a flight back home from Rome, this is a stop on my list. Is the only place that carries a variety of Genovese pastries and sweets. Also I am able to get Pandolce Genovese even if I go in Sept/Oct. The restaurant is also okay and has plenty of Roman staples. On the first floor they have the Sicilian section with the best fresh cannoli. read more

Not a bad way to spend the day. Plenty of little shops including a cafe with booze options. Prices are neither nor excessive. They had Wi-Fi which helped me get some quick work done. Most people were dining with friends it seemed. On the day I visited they had a beer festival going on outside as well which was a great time. read more

A huge place to shop ... Everything I bought there was good ( cheese, ham & bread ) Had lunch there and my pasta ( todays pasta ) was excellent, others had pizza but the topping was very good but the dough was very hard ...so had a hard time cutting it , So don't know that's their style but little bit disappointed on the dough/crust read more

Had a great time visiting Eataly. Dinner was amazing and picked up some great deals on pasta and some treats to take home. I recommend this restaurant tho they only plan to be in Eataly for two months as they have a restaurant in Sicily. read more
Compared to the Eataly's in the USA this one is quite underwhelming. Quite boring. No real vibe or atmosphere. The food all looks good but I think the way it's laid out doesn't do it justice. read more

Wow, this place was amazing. It was really big and had good everything. I liked it, because I got to go to a few different restaurants while I was inside. It was host to a lot of different restaurants and a grocery store. I tried to Fritto place, and the mixed fried fish basket was amazing. It had little squid, and sardines, and shrimp and it was delicious. Then I had a pizza and that was pretty tasty. Later, I even had gelato, which was a little slice of heaven. Thank you for this awesome eating hall. I loved it there. read more

So, you die and go to Italian food heaven. When you wake up, you will be in this Joe Bastianich/Mario Batali fantasy. This is the largest version of the original NYC concept in the entire world. Dozens of restaurants, from the casual takeaway to the trattoria to the white tablecloth rooftop restaurant, all the Italian groceries and products you could ever imagine, cooking classes, cafes, desserts....I could go on, but it would be pointless to try to describe the 4-5 levels of this place. It's a little out of your way in Rome, but well worth the trip. I picked up a nice bag of Sicilian sea salt - though I had almost a dozen other types of Italian salt to choose from. Only thing I would change the next time I visit is to have a progressive meal - eat a little something on each level. You won't regret your earlier (delicious) meal - but you will wish you had had a chance to try something from a specific region you've never been to. EATaly - all Italian, all the time. read more

Lunch us served til 3 and dinner from 7 onwards. In between it's only take away and you're not allowed to eat at the tables. You'll see from our pic we took ours home. Staff are generally friendly. Food prices are on the pricier side of the scale. From the second floor, We ordered the rotisserie BBQ chicken, chicken wings and ribs. The rotisserie chicken was moist and yummy! Cost was €3.80 for half. Wings and ribs were really dry - we didn't even finish it. Might be because we ordered at 4pm and the food was sitting there a while. Not touristy at all it's where the locals go. Conveniently near the Ostience train station (used to be part of the station itself). I'd recommend this to anyone - there's fresh produce, cafes, and an abundance of gourmet pasta and jars. read more

Eataly is located not only in Rome, but all over United States. It is a high quality Italian gourmet supermarket that hosts a top cooking school, superb restaurants, and cafes and wine bars as well. My hubby and I had so much fun looking at everything, and after this day we came back multiple times during our stay in Rome just because. On our first visit, we had dinner at one of the restaurants (2nd floor). There was no particular name of the restaurant (that I know of). We were seated immediately, and given menus. The menu is quite simple and well priced; only a few appetizers, a handful of pastas, and a bit more pizzas. The restaurant had the day's special for pasta and pizza respectively. We decided to try the buffalo milk mozzarella cheese for appetizer, the day's pasta for my husband, and the Onion & Gapogollo Salami Pizza for myself. It wasn't anything extraordinary, and I'm not sure if I will order it again. I will probably order another pizza, or try their pastas. The produce was relatively fresh, we bought some fruit and they were nice and ripe. The cheese section was nice, and it's a great place for tourists to come and visit. read more

Though much of the products are mass produced, I managed to find a few good artisan cheeses and salamis. I increased their ratings due to the staff being friendly. I tried a fe more pasta dishes and they were still quite bland. What am I missing that deserves 4 stars? I would like to see scores/wine ratings on the wines. Most gave me gnarly headaches even if I had only two glasses. I could write a very long review specifically reviewing each section I went to. But I will just review the most notable. The truffle and truffle oils section. I don't believe any of the oils or actual truffles are legit Italian. There is a chemical used to fool you into thinking its real truffles, but it's not. Personally I like both and can't tell a difference. Eataly is supposed to be a gourmet type store. Why are they selling only fakes and inferior Chinese truffles. ?? The olive and cheese sections are to be noticed as pretty decent. I love all the variety of olives you can buy at a reasonable price. Smells amazing. It seems this section (near the fresh fruit and veg.) is always understaffed and you need to hunt down an overworked staff member to bag and weigh. The cheese section (also cured meat section) is nice because there are staff constantly making fresh mozzarella (buffalo and cow). A lovely ethnic Russian spoke great English and took her time explaining a few varieties I was interested in. I do like shopping there for a few things. I would like to see improvements on the wine section and a few other places. read more

There are many Eataly's around the world. I've been to the one in Chicago and the one in Italy, almost within a span of 10 days! It was humorous going around Italy in the subway system asking people where is "Eataly?" They looked at us strangely and think we're asking "where is Italy?" The food here tends to be bit pricey, but Eataly gives you a Whole's Food, high-end/quality food court ambiance. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting the gelato here, inside Eataly. Lait Gelateria Alpina was the best gelato we had in Italy..believe or not! Also, the team at Lait is SUPER DUPER friendly. She was so patience with me when I was trying to figure what flavor to get. I ended up getting two cones!! Pistachio and Strawberry. Pistachio was definitely the winner in my books. read more

3.5 stars. Review is for the meat restaurant on the 3rd floor. The waitress who took our oirders must not understand what I was saying since when the orders arrived it wasn't exactly what we asked for. I have never experienced racism, but this is the closest I may have ever come to it. I also don't know if this was a mistake on their part, but it sure seemed intentional. We ate a place called Birreria, and we were there with several other American groups. My wife and I were the first group in the restaurant, and at least 10 tables that had older adults or Europeans were served before us. We never had a waiter/waitress come to our table and had to walk up to the bar to order drinks after 45 minutes of waiting. Then we ordered food and waited another 30 minutes with no sign of appetizers. When we were finally ready to give up and leave, they suddenly had our food to us in two minutes. Still, nobody came to our table to check on us or offer an apology. Although the bartender implied he would compensate our meal because of the lack of service, he then still charged us the full bill. Very disappointing. read more

Sadly, given I have had great meals at Eataly in NYC, my meal here was not great. We ate dinner at the sit down place upstairs. My carbonara was disappointing (too runny and quite salty). My friend's plain tomato sauce was good. BUT, both of our pastas were - gasp - way under cooked. Were not talking al dente, were talking like pre al dente. I think that is one of those things that you can loose your citizenship over in Italy ... that and over cooking your pasta ... or breaking any of the many food rules. It was edible and we were hungry. The service itself was great and we were more than happy with the suggested wine to go with our meal. read more

I have used the online shopping option several times. Not only is the quality of the foods excellent, so is the service. Last week I provided my old address by accident. The driver, Putzu Simone from Milkman called me and could remember me from previous deliveries. Usually they are not allowed to change their routes, but he went to the trouble to call his manager and agree that he would bring it since he was in the neighbourhood. What fabulous service!! Even when the customer was wrong ... Putzu saved the day and added to my great experience with Eataly and their logistic partner. Thank you! read more

Worth a visit--but best to have a plan. I'd been to Eataly in Milano and was expecting something similar, but this one much larger and kind of chaotic, with many more eat-in options. It probably didn't help that we visited on a Sunday afternoon when the place was packed, with long waits to sit and eat. We thought we were queued up but the system for seating in order wasn't apparent. In the end we got a table when we should have. I would have liked to be able to have a small serving of fritto misto, some salad, and an assortment of salumi and cheeses, but the restaurants are divided in kind of a weird way. We chose the restaurant that only served fried stuff. What we did eat--an assortment of fried stuff--was delicious: light, airy, crisp, and not a tad-bit greasy. The real strength of Eataly is that they have SO MUCH in one place, but that's also its weakness. If you want some extraordinary foods, it's best to go to the little places where they're made. We bought a buffalo-milk Taleggio near Lecco that made our eyes roll, but Eataly didn't carry it. I know that Eataly makes their own mozzarella di bufala daily, and bought a ball of it, looking forward to the creamy texture and full taste that can't be matched by cow's milk mozzarella. But when we got it back to our hotel and dug in, it was a disappointment: tough exterior, dry-ish interior, and an acidic flavor that told us it was no longer fresh. Still, Eataly is a foodie paradise and might be best visited alone or with just one other person (I was with a group of four, and it was tough to keep track of each other.) There are so many options that it's easy to get pulled in many different directions. read more

Eataly da Roma!! Che bello!! This has to be the biggest place I've seen with food in Rome. I've been to Eataly, NYC and loved it. So kind of knew what to expect. But also had super high hope. If it was anything like the NYC one, it will be a Mecca of all things Italian food under on roof. One can get pasta, pesce, wine, cheeses, prosciutto and all things cured. Coffee, espresso!!! Gelato!! Zomg/ many many things!! And If you don't wanna eat , you can buy grocery, fish and take things home. I mean what's Not to love?? Really?! It's the best!!! Entering this foodie shrine was magic! It's an OCD's heaven. 4 floors of magic??Perhaps!! Everything is neat, straight, clean and structured. First floor is all about pretty things and tastiness. And four -five aisles of dried pasta. Every shape and form you can imagine. It was heaven for me. I even brought home several bags in my one carry on bag that I had! And that misto bar?? Yumm!! Food- ate at the prosciutto bar, tasted some prosecco, beer! Ate the rotisserie meat. Pizza Margherita and a ton of fried seafood!! I also bought oodles of dried pasta to smuggle in my one carry on that I brought. Still have them at home! Hardest thing about this place is not shopping. I could easily spend days here shopping and eating. And taking cooking lessons! Ahh, soon I'm hoping. If I make it back to Rome again, I'll definitely be going back!! read more
This is basically Italy's version of "Trader Joes", only with restaurants and take-out food ---but much more expensive. Prices are ridiculously high even by Italian standards. (minus One Star) Web site and sign at Pyramide Metro station BOTH declare hours in English, "open 10am to 12 am". This is FALSE ADVERTISING. We arrived at 3:15 pm on a Tuesday, and all the restaurants are closed. We wanted to buy a 1/2 chicken ($3.80 Euros, very expensive as we can get an entire Whole Rotisserie Chicken at Costco in US for the same price), and we were told that it was not possible to eat on the premises (WTF?) (Minus another star). My wife bought a very nice spinach calzone downtairs for around $4.50 Euros, which we split along with the chicken that we ate on the premises. (hahahaha, take that Eataly!) We were honest and took the empty bag thru the checkout line, where we paid for it. The silverware is very fancy for a take-out place. Hope nobody is taking it home as a souvenier.....LOL. When I asked the beverage guy for a Coke Zero (diet Coke), he looked at me like I was from Mars. "I'm sorry sir, we only sell organic Italian sodas, and nothing with artificial sweeteners." I asked, "Ok, how much for that bottle of Orange Soda?", he replied "$2.50 Euros" (That is THREE DOLLARS U.S. for a tiny bottle...again, WTF?) (Minus another star for not having Coke and Coke Zero on the premises) We are now down to 2 stars. The food is good, but rather expensive. We ate the chicken, the calzone, and split a $1 Euro bottle of water "senza gas" (natural water without carbonation). Total spent = $10 euros, not too shabby for an afternoon snack after a long day trip to Ostia Antica. I was really excited to try this place after reading about it on Yelp. But its such a disappointment and not really in a convenient location unless you are passing by the Pyramide Metro Station read more
I have heard some retail professional fond of this concept, that I skipped one night Rome's pizza for Eataly! We had the tuna tarte and grilled deluxe (in tea set display...) at Meat and Fish. The fried theme restaurant downstairs seems appealing, oh that enormous portion of calamari! With their beer! The food is a fun gourmet in food court style. BUTTTT drinks are the surprise. I had Nero D'avola Sedàra Sicilia (9.99 euro/bottle) which is below average there. That's the best wine I tasted throughout the five days in Italy. I bought a basket of salami, around 4 pieces, none of them failed. Some truffle source for friends which got compliments from their guest for their risotto. I always go for markets, the $10 dollar lobster at NYC Chelsea Market and its Chowder soup. And I am a big fan of Boqueria. Now I will save for this Italiano grocery empire. read more

Reminds me of Eataly in NYC. Took scooter ride here. Great selection of food and wine. Would definitely go back.

“While it is located a bit in the outskirts, but still close enough to Rome, I would gladly return to Eataly.”

Prezzi tutti molto alti. read more

Consigliatissimo read more
