4/5/26 Happy Easter, last minute shopping, as always…read more We steer clear off the Alhambra location due to high traffic areas, this is more amenable. My purpose was to find fresh organic corn to make spring/summer salad, but alas, none here. I inquired from this kindly gentleman who looked & (not his dept.) asked the staff in the back. He did direct me to the packaged corn on the cob, at this point, I have no choice and I was not about to go to another store to find one. Picked up a couple of tomato packages, cucumbers, some avocados and a balsamic dressing. And off I went. There were no self check outs here. The cashier & bagger were both helpful & cordial. Prices are at par with Ralph's, Albertsons or Vons. Parking is plentiful. I did not venture out into the other departments other than the pictures that I have posted here just to get a lay of the land. Will likely return to shop here. It's clean, well organized & somewhat stocked (no fresh corn on the cob!). I understand that the supply chain can be fickle. Good overall experience.

I've seen the staff drop everything to ask customers how they're doing, the cashiers always give stickers to babies and kids and I personally have experienced a manager going above and beyond to make sure that I left the store happy and satisfied. My personal thoughts outside the stellar service: great location, never too busy, parking is solid and I know if there's something wrong with something I bought I know the customer service will go out of their way to make sure they can make it right. What more can you ask for from a grocery store?

The ginseng jar was less than half full (see photo), yet it was sold as a premium, discounted item. The quantity was extremely small for the price, and the quality did not match the cost at all--the texture was rough and not pleasant to consume. More recently, when buying tea, the staff had a bad attitude. The store usually advertises 20% off, but I was told there was no discount that day unless I bought more than 3 pounds, and even then it was only 10% off. At $149.99 per pound, that's unreasonable for an individual buyer. Pricing and promotions feel inconsistent and misleading. I recommend being very cautious and comparing elsewhere before buying.

I have many memories as a kid wandering around the location over in Chinatown, and the fact that it no longer exists still baffles me. While there is more competition these days from other smaller emporiums and supermarkets, it is still worth coming in for the ease of shopping for Chinese herbs, teas, snacks, tableware, and kitchen appliances. Background music selection mixes between English and Chinese songs, much like how the ladies speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English well and provide a wealth of knowledge in figuring what herbs you'll need depending on the soup. I had in mind to make a soup for hot summer heat, which included northern/southern almonds, dried figs, lotus seeds, honey dates, huai shan, and luo han guo. Everything was there conveniently pre-packaged or sold by weight. Comparing the prices with the few over in 99 Ranch, I noticed the prices here are cheaper and more plentiful.

Some might taste little bit bitter and some just tastes like a dessert I do really love it I am so happy to I find this store They have so many authentic herbal remedies packs and I can tell their ingredients are very clean with good quality The ladies who work there are so sweet and gentle and I do love the service there I provided my description and she was helping me with my remedies I even bumped into the old Chinese Medicine Practitioner there and he is still working. This herb shop is fairly spacious, clean, and bright. You can call ahead with the prescription order and then pick up the Chinese herbs, or you can wait on site as they prep it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The products (snacks, dried goods, speciality sauces, etc) are stored in a tidy manner on the shelf, and pricing is clearly labeled and reasonable. Shopping here is a pleasant experience; parking lot is in the back of the store.

Don't be fooled by the looks outside or the fact you walk in to a deli counter where they make sandwiches. Take a seat and enjoy some of the best if not the best Italian currently on the East Side of Los Angeles, and certainly the SGV. We went for lunch on a weekday, and the place was kind of empty. The interior was nice before and they have not changed much except maybe a coat of paint and the deli counter. Service was okay, but the two male waiters did tend to hang out with each other in the back by the bar which made getting our check a drag. They also make you pay for basic bread and olive oil. It was either $7 or $10, but whatever it was it was way too much for a few pieces of focaccia. Those would be my two complaints. Some might also say the prices are just a tad steep, but the food is in my opinion currently worth it. We got the carbonara and the tagliatelle à la Bolognese. My son almost always orders carbonara in an Italian joint and usually complains. He compares every place to Vito Restaurant by the Santa Monica airport. That carbonara he loves to death. He said this was now his second favorite. He also attributed it to them using guanciale instead of pancetta. He said it makes all the difference. My tagliatelle was delicious, as well. The meat ragu tasted so good. Bottom line, I'll be back and probably a regular. I hope more people go, as it would be a shame to lose this gem. This restaurant is now in my top 3 LA Italian joints along with Vito and La Pergoletta in Los Feliz. I cant wait to try the cacie o pepe. I just wish they'd at least give one basket of bread even if they charge for refills. I can't believe how many restaurants want you to pay an exorbitant price for bread and butter. Sorry, but it's a rip off. Nonetheless, I loved the food and will be back. Just go!
