If you love comics and pop culture in general, you really need to stop by this store. We try to stop in whenever we're over in Mandarin. While I've never been big into comic books, I've always loved pop culture collectibles. I know they can't carry everything in store but every time we're in there I'm amazed by how much they do have on hand. Sure, there are huge online stores that you can order tons of things from but like always, I'd rather support a local Jacksonville business if at all possible. Especially if it's a place I've received great customer service from before and that's the case with Mythical Mountain. We've called ahead before when we were looking for gifts and had them remember the call hours later when we got to the store and helped us find the perfect gift. I took a few pics to share but I still don't think it gives you a good idea of how much stuff they have in the store. I didn't find anything I wanted to pick up today but my wife found a Mick Foley action figure that she bought for herself, so that's a win for America. If you needed any further proof of the level of customer service and care they provide, you don't really need to look further than the most recent post I made about them in the the Jacksonville Fun, Eats & Drinks Facebook group. I posted a recap of our most recent visit in the group and mentioned the part you just read about how I didn't find anything then I mentioned that I need to call them some time to see if they can get their hands on one of the Michael Jackson figures made by Blitzway because they seem like the type of store that might be able to get that type of thing. Then I went on to say that even if they can't get it, I'd still rather try if I can go through a local place first before somewhere online. Within minutes, the store owner left a comment asking me to send her a DM with information on what I'm looking for to see if she can help. See what I mean? You can't get that kind of customer service from any online store, no matter how big and bad they are... If you like stuff like this, stop in at Mythical Mountain in Mandarin some time. Even if collectables or comics aren't your thing, I bet you could find a gift for someone you know at this store with ease. As I mentioned, a version of this post originally appeared in the Jacksonville Fun, Eats & Drinks Facebook group.

Stopped by the FYE store at the Orange Park Mall to pick up some gifts for my daughter. The store…read moreoffers a huge selection of anime merchandise, themed toys, and snacks. If you're into collectibles or novelty items, they definitely have a variety to choose from. The customer service was great--the ladies at the counter was very helpful and even located a specific product for me that I had seen on their website. However, the store itself feels a bit run down. A lot of clearance items and sales I'll the wall. There were visible stains on the carpet, and some of the snacks looked like they might have been out of date. It's understandable that with the rise of digital media, it can be hard to sell DVDs, Blu-rays, and music CDs, though they do have a decent selection of vinyl records if that's your thing. Overall, it's a solid place to find unique gifts, but the atmosphere could definitely use some attention.

How great is it that a record store still exists? Pretty awesome if you ask me. And just FYI,…read morethere's also still an FYI at The Avenues Mall too. I remember when record stores use to be all over place and nowadays, you just don't see them anymore. Almost every time hubby and I are at the OP Mall, we wander in here to take a look around. It's really great to browse through all the CDs, etc. they have. The new CDs generally cost more than they do at other places, but they do have some good prices on older CDs. Same thing with the DVDs and Blurays - they tend to be about $5 more than other places. Sometimes we'll pick one up though if we're really wanting it and we're not in the mood to stop by Best Buy on the way home. They also have other really cool items in here like the life-size standup poster of Daryl from The Walking Dead! I really wish I would have bought that thing now when I first saw it cause now it's gone. Waaaaaa. The one they have in the store now is Peta from The Hunger Games. I do love The Hunger Games, but Peta is no Daryl. Employees here are friendly and if you ask for assistance they are happy to give it, but for the most part, they just leave you alone and let you browse around. I do like that. I hate employees that follow me around asking if they can help every 2 seconds. Great store. Stop by .... especially if you haven't been in a record store in a while.

Ever look back and say to yourself...I wish I had that toy, but it was hard to find back then (or sold out)? Do you collect a certain set of toys and/or action figures from movies, cartoons, games, etc. of days gone by? How about a comic book? Hard to find older games? If you have ever asked yourself any of these questions in addition to many more questions...look here! There is a pretty good chance they have it, or can keep an eye out for you and get it. When you walk into this place you will be overwhelmed with what they have in such a small space...it is amazing! It definitely takes you down memory lane. Give it a try...they may just have that special something you've been looking for...or something you didn't know you wanted or needed. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The prices are fair and they take trades, but must be approved. There is plenty of parking and easy to get in and out of. Note: been trying for a week to post a cool video of an older Darth Vader toy available there. Hopefully one will be uploaded soon. I'll keep trying!
