Hurricane Hobbies is a full-service hobby shop, a true rarity these days. Their main focus is on R/C cars and aircraft. I'm not into those but there are always R/C fans in the shop talking about kits with the owners. There is a large selection of scale model cars, planes, ships, and military vehicles to choose from. The shop carries the full selection of Testors, Model Masters, and Tamiya bottle and spray paints. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are good; sometimes you can find better prices on-line but I want to keep local small businesses in business. read more

Simply put, nowadays, I love coming here. I stopped going for a while a few years back because the previous owners were mask weirdos that thought it was a great idea to put up a picture of Joe Biden in the window that said, 'eNtEr At YoUr OwN rIsK' (because if there's anything I enjoy very much, it's bringing politics into my favorite hobby). Fortunately though, when Ian and his staff took over Hurricane Hobbies literally changed overnight. Not only are they super cool and professional, but they have a great selection at reasonable prices. They always greet you with a 'welcome in' or 'welcome back' and ask if you right away if you need anything. The vibe is so legit there and every time I go in to browse I almost feel like a kid again. Hobby shops are slowly becoming harder to find and honestly, I'm so grateful that I have one close to home that I can frequent to accommodate my model building needs. This place is the coolest. I build Gunpla (Japanese robot plastic models) and have been trying to find somewhere in the area that sells the Tamiya paints commonly used for them. Turns out, they're the only place in the area that does. They have all kinds of supplies, not just the paints (spray, brush, airbrush, you name it), and from multiple vendors, so whatever kinds of models you're doing, they've got the goods. Not just that, they had panel line wash, scribbers, masking tape, brushes, thinners, cement, and just about everything else one would need. We're talking a serious selection of Tamiya, Testors, and other brands' products for model builders. That's on top of it being a full RC shop, with every kind of model, paint, part, and electronic component you could imagine for that purpose. The pictures don't do it justice, they really have a huge inventory of parts and models, RC or snap/glue or whatever kind of models you're into. On top of that, the employees were genuinely kind and helpful. They were modelers themselves and had super helpful recommendations and advice. They knew the products and knew the hobby, and that was honestly nice to see. As a bonus, they actually have some house-brand items you likely wouldn't find elsewhere, like liquids for applying water slide decals, special mini detail brushes, and much more. Great service and prices. I was a diehard Traxxas fan until I learned that there are other amazing RC's available at a lesser price. The 4WD Brushless Truck I purchased is amazing and very durable. It even features 3 speed modes adjustable right on the controller. The slowest setting is perfect for my 5 Year Old son who loved RC Cars. The high speed setting is a blast for me. It was my first visit to your store, and the lack of common courtesy displayed towards me when I walked in was not something I imagined. I was in your store for 20 minutes, and not a single employee greeted me the entire time. I walked around, looking at everything, and everyone. I made eye contact with everyone who was on the floor who worked there, and they simply turned away like they didn't want to greet or help me, which is fine.
