Great local business! Saved me a huge headache! I recently purchased a brand new Lenovo from Staples. Because I was moving, the new laptop got packed away before even coming out of the box. A month later I started up the new Lenovo and the screen immediately began to glitch. My new machine was defective right out of the box. I took it back to Staples thinking it would be a simple exchange. It was not. Their story policy did not all for the return/exchange as i missed the return window for electronics. Staples tried to bring the machine up but the defective monitor did not allow for and repair/diagnosis. Rats! But the machine was still under factory warranty. I placed a trouble ticket on the Lenovo website and was assigned a case on February 2, 2021. I waited about two weeks, thinking I would at least have a follow-up message about my machine. I replied to the email with my case number asking for an estimate. I use my laptop for my writing gig on the side (and to post these Yelp reviews!) Bottom line, I needed to get back on the web ASAP. I frequent Topsham where this unassuming little shop is located on the second floor of suite 2 in Topsham Fair Mall and thought, I'll check it out. I was impressed by the cozy waiting room, masks were being enforced due to covid, and social distance measures were put into place, clear dividers were used to shield customers and staff. I sat down with owner/head tech Josh who specializes in Lenovos. He was sympathetic to my plight and said Lenovo will probably never get back to me, so he offered to take over my repair claim and with his magic connections he'd give them a call. WHAT A RELEIF! I was able to unload my headache and put it in the hands of a professional repair tech who has over 15 years experience in the industry. Mr. Mason provided top-notch customer service, he really empathized with my plight. I trust my machine is in good hands. Skip the big box, check out the Nerd Barn for computer, phone, tablet, etc. repair needs. read more

I brought in my MSI workstation for damaged hinges and the case separating. I received it back unrepaired, covered in messy epoxy, more damaged than before, with the screen cracked and partially dead. When I arrived to pick up my laptop, he could not locate it at all. I discovered it in the hallway floor outside his office, leaning against the desk. He proceeded to tell me that my TWO YEAR OLD laptop was "on its last legs anyway", no one could possibly repair it, and I should just give up on it. He did not apologize at any point. When I brought it to someone else for repair, we discovered he had plastic welded the screen to the casing. Parts of the case were broken off and missing. He told me the screen couldn't be replaced. Despite his assertions, I was able to take it to someone else who fixed the supposedly unfixable. The only good thing I can say about this company is that at least they paid for the repair work it needed after they got their hands on it. read more

I can't say enough for the service I got on my MacBook Air. Josh identified my problem(s), communicated in layman's terms what the problems were and what needed to be done. He fixed what he could while I waited and told me what my next steps were. No hard selling, no long waits, no huge price tags and I didn't feel minimized by my lack of knowledge. The office is at the Reny's end of the plaza on the second floor. read more

Josh was a great help with my iPhone issues. I am traveling this summer and he was able to quickly get my phone restored. He was able to troubleshoot my malfunctioning touchscreen and get my phone unlocked and my technology up and operating in about an hour. He has a wide array of knowledge on various devices and tons of equipment to support your technology needs. He was very professional and speedy with his work. I was lucky to catch him with a walk up service and he had me up and running as quickly as my device would allow. I'm sending family and friends back for all their technology repairs. Did you know he also partners with the Goodwill Industry to support internships for future technology gurus? He's expecting a summer intern shortly to learn the tips and tricks for your technology needs! I highly recommend his work and he's conveniently located at the Topsham Fair Mall. read more

Cannot say enough good things about my two recent experiences with Josh at Nerd Barn. First: my new HP Spectre came up with an error sign I had never seen before. Called Josh, took it in and he diagnosed and then replaced the ssd. Done in two days as he needed to order the drive. Works great. Second, because of my positive experience, I brought in my 8+ year old HP Pavillion and he replaced the older mechanical hard drive with a new (and enormously faster) ssd. In both cases, Josh was super- knowledgable, incredibly friendly, no condescending "down-speak", on time, and very reasonably priced. In this day and age knowing somebody that you can completely trust to help you put when the worst happenstance happens to our various electronic tools is a great relief. Highly recommended. Thank you Josh! read more

Kept waiting for weeks. WEEKS! And the part was never ordered. Maybe he's good fixing computers. Maybe just disorganized. The other place I went to fixed the problem in less than 24 hours. AND it was s software issue, not a hardware issue. read more

I just got my PC back from Nerdbarn. When I took it in, I couldn't see how it could be repaired. I had bought it "refurb" and all of a sudden it said "no fan detected". Well, I did what little I knew to do and took it to Josh. Five days later (delayed to accomodate my schedule) I have a better PC that has a new hard drive and the difference is INCREDIBLE. I can't say enough how pleased I am with the service, the communication, AND the cost for all he did! read more

I thought I had broken my iPhone 12 promax screen and arranged with Josh to replace it. He offered me an iPhone replacement part or aftermarket, at half the price. I dropped my phone off and, upon returning, Josh informed me that I had broken my screen protector, and not the glass at all. Josh could have told me that he repaired it and I would not have known the difference. Josh is an honest business person and we are all very fortunate to have him here in Topsham to assist us with all our phone and computer related concerns! read more

Nerd Barn has fixed two of my families' Iphones this week, and is about to fix a third problem. So easy and pleasant to do business here. Josh even offers free coffee and a comfy chair and Netflix while you wait! Completely reasonable pricing, so worth it especially considering the price of a new phone! Josh is really knowledgeable and will give you the straight scoop. Highly recommend! read more

I started this business with a dream of making tech repair fun. I was tired of going to places that looked like morgues and getting helped by people with little to no experience or skill.
