I have been to many car washes over the years in multiple cities and recently have tried at least a…read morefew of the offerings here in town. I prefer a touch-free wash and seek it out where it's available, and I prefer the flexibility of 24 hour open wash. Happy hippo has both, so tonight I tried their touch-free wash in bay 3 and I found it to be top-tier for the its car wash niche (ala carte automatic unmanned). The welcome video at the payment screen is unique, thorough and pleasant. Using the automatic wash will cost between $8 and $13 depending on the features that you pick. I think this makes it a few dollars cheaper than the monthly club washes. The wash experience was good. I picked the $13 wash and found it to be well done. In touch-free car washes, the pre-soak is especially critical. It needs to be applied slowly and given some time to soak in. Happy hippo did this right. The water pressure was excellent. There were multiple passes with each of the parts of the wash. There was a board that lit up to show which stage of the wash you were in, and it worked for all but one of the stages. A well functioning dryer is nice and summer and very desirable in winter. I found the dryer here is excellent- the best I've seen in this town. It has proper directed airflow and gives you plenty of time to ensure that your car is dried as well as it could be. There is a countdown timer as you drive out out of the bay, which is obscured at first, but trust me, there's PLENTY of time, so be sure to take advantage and creep forward slowly. I didn't use the vacuums or any of the other services on site, but my overall impressions of the site were positive. It was well lit and generally seemed to be in good upkeep. I don't know whether they have any sort of monthly membership program or pre-pay multi wash discount. Either way, I plan to be back more often after a positive experience tonight. A better online presence would really be nice and would do much to move my overall rating towards five stars.

If I had a time machine, I'd go back and wash my car myself instead.

Today, I have to vacuum the seats and floors (which is included in the mid level package.) Other days, I've had to wash the windows because they use wet rags to finish when a dryer rag should be used. Some days, they wipe the door jams, some days they don't. The workers are either pushed to get 'em through in a hurry, or they are poorly trained / supervised. I used to work in a car wash - I know the pressures (false or implied). At the end of the day, paying $16 for a full service wash should yield full service results with no extra work regardless of the length of Line. Or, to summarize another way, if you're going to kick 'em out fast, the $16 full service package should cost $10 for that period of the day. I've had plenty of full service / full result washes here, but it's usually when the line is short and I'm the only car in the drying bay. Just wish the service was a little more consistent for $16 - $18.
