I had heard of this company before. My mom recently passed away d/t Alzheimer's dementia and I already knew about this company, so I called them from the facility and they came right away to pick her up. The gentleman to came was inconspicuous, very friendly and respectful, taking care to make sure she was handled gently and reverently. Grace was wonderful and always ready to help with anything I might need. All of the staff I worked with, including the wonderful receptionist, were kind and treated me like family. The urn was beautiful and well-made. They have also called me periodically to check on me handling my grief. I love these folks! read more

My mother was given a mailed invite for a lunch seminar on cremation services at the Red Lobster on Montgomery. She RSVP'd and was told to be there at 2 pm on the day of the seminar. She arrived at 2:02 pm and the person running the seminar turned up her nose at my mom and rudely told her, "We don't accept late arrivals! You're late!" loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear, therefore embarrasing my mother and her friend. Also to note, my mother and her friend were the only Black women at the seminar and probably at the restaurant, period. The woman was so rude that even the restaurant staff had to apologize to my mom and her friend. I'd venture a bet to say that if my mom and her friend were two White -- or even Hispanic -- ladies, that woman's demeanor would have been a lot different. read more

When my husband passed representatives from Neptune Society picked him up and took him to Alquerque. They were respectful and kind and treated my husband with dignity. Jennifer Galazen was extremely helpful during this time. She took care of death certificates, urn, explained Military Honor Guard and answered many, many questions I had. I was promised a full refund on my policy as the result of the horrific treatment I received from Neptune Society in Albuquerque, NM. It's been 3 months and still no refund. We had subscribed to a Pre paid cremation plan years ago. When my wife died, I called The Neptune Society, not known what to expect. They took care of getting and transporting her to the cremation site. They got the necessary state cremation permit and copies of the death certificate. Jennifer invited me to the office and explained in great detail how everything would time out. She gave me a folder with the certificates and something else I needed. A hug. As a veteran, I am entitled to burial in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Jennifer told me if I wanted to go that route. Carolyn has the same eligibility as me because of my status. I couldn't be happier with the way Neptune, epically Jennifer, handled the whole cremation and related things. I went to the office and collected Carolyn's ashes. Once they get your money, you won't hear from them. You need to contact repeatedly to get your loved ones' ashes. You have to contact them to repeatedly to get your loved ones obituary online. When you go to pick up the ashes, you're treated like a stranger... have to show ID, without a kind word to share. Then they'll tell you that you "should" purchase more death certificates from THEM, because they're cheaper than the state. If you really don't like the person that died, this is a perfect place. If you really loved and honored them, go somewhere else. read more

I have had two overall positive experiences with the Albuquerque, New Mexico office of Neptune Society; the first in 2021 with David Slaten as Service Manager and recently in August 2023 with Grace Solano Pagliaro as the new Service Manager. On both occasions I have been treated with compassion and kindness by the ABQ staff. The decisions and details our family had to make were made easier by the sensitive guidance of the very knowledgeable and caring Ms. Pagliaro. Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed in your services. 1. I called you to ask that you NOT burn the bible with my nephew. It was burned with him. 2. You gave my sister her son in some box, with his ashes in a white plastic bag. You said you would furnish us with an urn. My sister had to call to get that, but they gave us a different box. We had for months been looking for local cremation services. Searches did not indicate that there was a Neptune Society (Cremation services) near Rio Rancho. As "the time" approached, and a Yelp search still did not include this group, we tried the web again and ended up using their call center, but not with any high hopes. However, within minutes, their sales mgr and their local licensed funeral director called and both were - kind, calm - informative - no hard sell This is not a "complete" Yelp experience, as we ended up using a different company, primarily due to NS approx $2000 cost for the package, and going off local recommendations. However, for some, for different reasons, this group should still be considered - and included in Yelp reviews to help the consumers being given choices. The fellow we spoke with could adequately explain - they are able to explain NM fees and apparently transparent in fees/products - they offer a few options for advance planning vs Need service now situations - they appear to have high standards, choosing a qualified Belen center for their cremations Our experience with the NS website was frustrating, because we were trying to "comparison shop" and it did NOT provide details on services/features or prices. This may be a result of NM rules. Again, by using the provided number and operator we soon had the contact we needed,live, and them sharing their credentials and personal stories was nice, however initially we had frustration that the website was not informative enough. Neptune had served our family well in a state on an ocean, and it should be included here too as a contender for new mexico needs. read more

I was lied to by Neptune Society representatives. I was told when I signed up and provided payment information prior to my sister's death, which was imminent that the price was set and the only additional cost would be the cost of the death certificates and the Medical Examiner's fee. I initially contacted Neptune Society regarding arrangements for my sister, Ellen Kuellmer, on May 14, 2021 at 5:58 p.m. after being advised by medical personnel that my sister would probably not make it through the night. Karen Zinn called me back at 7:31 p.m. She advised me in that telephone conversation that if I enrolled that night the price would be only $1953.00 plus death certs and Medical Examiners fee. If she passed before enrolling the cost would be $2160. She indicated she could enroll my sister in a plan that evening and that would assure her that price even if she passed away before the morning. She was willing and did come over to Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital where we sat in the parking lot by the emergency room until almost 9 p.m. completing the required paperwork. After all the paperwork was completed and payment information provided, I was informed that my sister was covered and the only additional expense after her passing would be the cost of the death certificates at $5.00 each and the Medical Examiner's fee of $230.00. I was told this was set even if my sister passed before the morning. I was told this as I emphasized repeatedly that she was not expected to live through the night. I was told I would have some additional paperwork to sign on Monday, but I was assured that the price was set. My sister survived through the night but passed away at 9:05 p.m., May 15, 2021, the next evening, 24 hours after the agreement was completed. Her remains were then picked up and entrusted to the Neptune Society. The following Monday, May 17, 2021, I was contacted by David Slaten of the Neptune Society. I was told in this telephone conversation that the rate I was promised on Friday, May 14, 2021, would not be honored because it was not entered into "the system". As they had my sister's remains, I felt I was stuck and had no choice and went to meet with Mr. Slaten at the Neptune Society in Albuquerque, NM on Montgomery Blvd NE. Feeling trapped as they were in control of my sister's remains, I settled on a package that was closest in price to original agreed upon cost. The final cost ended up at $2552.42 including $230.00 for the Medical Examiner and $15 for Death Certificates (3 @$5). This was after a "discount" offered on that date of $313.00. This also included a memory item (an item with cremains in it). The package offered a memory item up to a cost of $89.99. The item that was selected, a small cross, was $149.99. The difference of $60 was part of the $313.00 discount offered by Mr. Slaten. The original agreed upon price with Ms. Zinn came out to $1952.35 which after adding the Death Certs ($15) and the medical examiner's fee ($230) would have totaled 2197.35. I ended up paying $355.07 more than I was told I would have to pay. I ended up with a memory item, a small cross, that I did not anticipate. In reality I feel I paid $355 for it. I felt trapped and had no choice under the circumstances as they had my sister's remains. I was not presented with the option of declining their services since they were not going to honor the original agreement. I was grieving and although I knew this was wrong, I proceeded feeling I had no choice without incurring additional expenses which I was already trying to avoid. read more

Just as our family began to tour memory care communities for our elderly mother, our father died. Suddenly, our tiny family was careening between two extremely difficult, time-critical situations. We turned to the Neptune Society. Under the leadership of Services Manager David Slaten, the society took command to fulfill our father's wishes for a simple cremation, freeing my sister and I to focus on the urgent needs of our seriously ill mother. If ever a situation calls for a take-charge approach, it's the loss of a loved one when another loved one is in harm's way. Much to our relief, the Neptune Society took charge in a respectful, kind, sensitive and dignified manner. We were also very grateful for the forthright information Mr. Slaten provided about Covid-related delays in obtaining a state permit and a death certificate as well as the performance of the actual cremation. He set our expectations early so that there were no surprises when things took a little longer than they might have under normal circumstances. The entire staff kept us informed as each step in the process was completed. Lastly, when I picked up my father's ashes, Mr. Slaten escorted me to my car. It was a small, but extraordinarily graceful gesture to honor my father's remains. read more

I think the company as a whole is good and offers a good service but. My mother just passed on Friday night and we had to wait for 2 hours to have her body removed from her home. Then when the NEPTUNE SOCIETY showed up, my brother and I had to help wrap my mother in a body bag and physically help carry her out of the house and into their can. I believe this is very unprofessional and rather disgusting to do to a family. read more

Dave Slaten and the rest of the team have been such a great help to my aunt in her end of life planning. So many decisions made ahead of time, financial demands dealt with before need. When she passes, her family won't be stressed by all those tasks, and can grieve her in heir own time and way. My ex had signed up with Neptune Society's sister company in CA, Trident, but in NM they hand things over to Neptune. There were problems that could be dealt with (they've changed funeral homes, thankfullly, but still have none in Rio Rancho). They were supposed to arrange the inurnment at Santa Fe Nat'l Cem., with military honors (folding of the flag). They were supposed to explain paperwork, e.g., a religious icon for the plaque, and the flag. When we went up for the ceremony today, with all involved (the driving, taking off from work, etc.) we found they had done nothing about these. So, the entire ceremony has been rescheduled. What a waste of a day. You know you're really ticked when you go on Yelp with 1 star. read more
