I lost my best friend unexpectedly on 3/29/2021. The emergency vet clinic arranged for his cremation. After the vet staff explained the cremation process, I chose a private cremation. Today, 4/2/2021, I picked up his remains expecting him to be in a card board or plastic box. Bucci came in a beautiful wooden box with a sympathy message and a personalized certificate of cremation. I really appreciated the "Understanding Grief" pamphlet that was included as well. What really made everything unique and special was that I received a paw print with his name in plaster of paris. This made me feel like Bucci was not just another animal. Thank you Lasting Paws in Albuquerque for taking care of Bucci.

I lot a precious pet who graced our lives for 14 years. We took her to the emergency vet for cremation services as it was after hours and we didn't know what else to do. I dropped her off on Monday, August 29th. We received her back on the following Saturday. I wasn't sure what to expect. Lasting paws far outdid themselves. I have lost pets in the past and none of my other experiences even compare to the care and compassion lasting paws puts into their memorials. They provide the certificate of cremation, a beautiful cedar urn, a clipping of the pets hair, a plaster mold of the paw and a guidebook for coping with the loss of a pet. So beautiful and touching.

    Dudley

Losing our second standard poodle less than a year after our other one, Daisy, was especially difficult for us. We were in Angel Fire for the summer, and sadly our Dudley passed away unexpectedly over Labor Day weekend at a vet clinic in Taos. Unfortunately, the vet at that clinic was less than helpful, only referring us to Lasting Paws, and then washing her hands of the situation, stating that Lasting Paws would handle all of the arrangements for Dudley. When I initially contacted Lasting Paws and spoke with Angie, it turned out that the vet clinic was responsible for getting the paw print as well as mailing the cremated remains back. Indeed, the clinic had charged us for the cremation without even telling us. There was a back and forth where I called the clinic, and was told a different story. However, Angie was very compassionate and kind, and took care of everything for us. She took it upon herself to make sure that the paw print was done, and she mailed everything back in a nice urn, even though it was the vet clinic's responsibility. She also didn't charge us for the postage or the paw print. She went way beyond the call of duty in spending time listening to me not only about the problems with the vet clinic, but only about the loss of our Dudley. I can't ever thank her and Russ at Lasting Paws enough for their kindness, patience, and beautiful urn and paw print.

I'm not only destroyed by my 17yr old dogs passing. I am very upset about the crooked etching done on a beautiful granite urn I had made for him. I will need to have another created due to the carelessness that ruined my Beloved's final resting place!

    The name was Hank.

Previously posted by mistake on VCA on Wyoming-I went to the one on Paseo. This was posted on…read more06/16/26 VCA helped four of my babies cross over. The staff was very caring and it was taken care of very humanely (with one of my girls, I didn't have the money and they told me just to bring in a bag of food when I can)! I took another one of my babies to the ASPCA to cross over-BIG MISTAKE, very inhumane. They did not sedate her-they just gave her the med to stop her heart! I could tell her final seconds were very painful. I often cry about this and tell my baby girl how sorry I am. My current baby was diagnosed with cancer last year and VCA has given exceptional care to him, even calling to see if he is doing well. Everyone there loves him! He is now ready to cross over and I hope Dr. Ryan (his "primary" vet) will be able to help him cross over. I know he will be less stressed if the vet "doing it" is someone he trusts (and I trust). I will probably be taking him in tomorrow to say goodbye. I won't be ready for another pet for a while (if ever). I am incredibly lost and broken right now. I Praise the Lord for the kind and caring staff at VCA. 2nd review posted on 06/24/26-my baby passed on the 18th: Well, my boy is gone! I'm so very broken, so very shattered and so very lost right now. VCA was so wonderful and Dr. Ryan is the one who helped him cross-over. He gave me some alone time to say goodbye to my baby and was very caring and reassuring. Everyone there loved Morpheus and they were so respectful of my wishes. If and when I decide to get another fur-baby, I will definitely be taking him/her to VCA!

Unfortunately over the past few years some of our pets needed to be put to sleep. Yesterday was one of those days. The whole team there was compassionate and respectful. When I finally got through they were not helpful in getting us into see them. I found Mission Veterinary Clinic and contacted them. They were able to get us scheduled with an appointment that same day and they ended up moving her appointment time up because they were concerned about her. Upon our arrival, the staff was helpful and welcoming. The vet tech that called me and attended to us was amazing and so compassionate. As well as the veterinarian. They discussed every result with us and walked us through some next steps. They didn't hesitate to answer any questions. Ultimately we were referred to Roadrunner Veterinary Services as a critical care overnight stay. From 7/20-7/21, I interacted with multiple staff and all of them were super helpful and kind. Even with my repeated phone calls almost every hour with questions or requests, they did not make me feel like I was overbearing and the veterinarian took time out of her busy day to talk on the phone with me to discuss my baby's condition and next steps. She was not rushing me, was patient even when I was emotional and let me know to call back if I still had questions. After some consultation on 7/21 with the veterinary staff at Roadrunner, they agreed to let me take my baby home to try some at home care. On 7/23, unfortunately she began to decline rapidly and I took her back to Roadrunner Veterinary. They took her back immediately and put us into a room. A veterinarian came in and let us know her condition and that it was time to seriously consider the hard decision of putting her to sleep. I said goodbye to my baby on July 23. I spent a total of 4 hours there that day getting to spend time with my baby for the last time and they did not rush me one bit. They put a notice on our door asking for quiet time as someone was saying goodbye. The young woman who asked the hard questions about what I wanted to do with my fur baby's remains was super compassionate and a great communicator. I recall having spoken to her when I was calling previously and she was compassionate then as well. I received more compassion and support from two different vets (Mission and Roadrunner) during one of my toughest life moments (that I have never been to) than from an established vet I had been going to for years.

We were expecting a wait as there sicker pets there, but we got back pretty quickly. Exam & x-ray and admitted. Our vet was upfront & informative. We got plenty of updates, proposed plan of care and plenty of options each step of the way. She came home minus stones. We were happy. I wouldn't have any problems taking our pets there or recommending them.
