Came for pre-concert momos before a show at the Met. Ordered vegetarian Jhol Momo (dumplings in soup/sauce) and Tandoori Momo (grilled dumplings). Both were flavorful and fresh. I was a little surprised at the high prices but I guess this is 2025, sigh. Restaurant was clean and comfortable and service was prompt leaving us plenty of time to walk to the show.

Cozy spot with good momos! We stopped by for lunch and ordered the steamed veggie momo, chicken chilly, and chicken jhol momos. The steamed momos had a great flavor and texture but was lacking enough filling. Chicken chilly was great! Chicken was juicy, tender, and crispy. We got spice level 5 which was good. Not too spicy for people who like spice. Chicken jhol momo was a soup with around 6 momos. Soup had a nice subtle ginger lemongrass taste. This dish was very good. Overall it was a good experience here with helpful and quick service.

This is a real hidden gem in Spring Garden. Helpfully for us newbies there's a special section on the menu for the top 6 things to get, as ordered by Craig Lebain. We split the #3 and number #5, level 2 spicy. I love spicy food and this was not playing around lol! Overall highly recommend

Been here a few times. It's worthwhile to try. Especially compared to the food available nearby. Small shop, helpful.

The sizzling momo is definitely different from the more traditional one with a lot more flavor. The taste of the sauce is actually a bit too much for me, overpowered the momo's flavor. The other one is well seasoned and more balanced imo. It's a pretty small place and only sells momos. I'll come back to try other variations.

Delicious momos the size of golf balls? Sign me up. Chicken Jhol momo - tangy, soupy, hot, all we needed after a freezing walk outside. Himalayan Chilly momo - wasn't a fan of the sauce, a tad too sweet. Service was attentive and helpful.

A hidden gem in the neighborhood and very quaint. First time trying Nepalese food and tbh, my taste buds were quite confused. And to warn, the spice levels, choose carefully. I got level 2 out of 5 and it was still quite spicy. They have plenty vegetarian options

Momo Sampler This is such a cute momo spot! We ordered the momo Sampler, and they were kind enough to also provide a momo in soup on the house. Exceptionally flavorful and nicely spicy, perfectly done!

very simple establishment with simple menu. Plenty of momos to select from steamed to pan fried. From sour to sweet and spicy. They even have soup dumplings as well. Here's what we got: Fried rice - good flavor and since we opt for spicy, they really delivered it to us! Ck Jimboo Le Janeko Momo: i like the chewiness of the skin. I think they can a bit more filling and the server did mention this one is going to be sweet and sour, but i think it's too sour for my liking Nepali tea: tasted like those prepackage milk tea and all they need to do is add hot water. Not bad, but it's nothing special. 7.1/10

Stopped in to try some of their momo selections for a unique snack. Similar to dumplings but had a unique twist, and different flavors. Johl sauce was good spice and tasty. The Himalayan chili spice was okay, seemed to be just a sweet and spicy sauce. Meat filling were also okay. The johl sauce was the memorable part of the meal. Interior has a few 2 and 4 top tables. Menu prices are a bit high comparatively to dumpling or dim sum spots, but momos are a unique twist for something different and could be worth a try. Thanks

I can't believe we have a Nepali/Himalayan place dedicated to Momos in the city. There are very few really good Indian/Desi places in Philly so I am very thankful to the owners. We got the Chicken Tandoori Momos and Goat Jhol Momos and both were mouth watering. These are exactly like the ones we had on our Nepal trip a few years back so I can definitely attest to the authenticity of this place. The broth in the Jhol momo (soup dumplings) was so satisfying! Both the goat and the chicken were cooked so well and packed with flavors. The Chai (called Chya in Nepali) was too good and very similar to what I am used to drinking back home in India. I am a self proclaimed chai connoisseur - not the American pseudo chai with star anise and cinnamon but actual Indian chai and I have never had good chai in Philly. Nope, not even at all the amazing Indian places in Philly like Amma's (they have great Madras coffee though), Thanal, Veda, Masala Kitchen Kati Rolls or any other place that claims to serve "chai" on their menu. The place is clean and the servers are very polite and welcoming. I have already added this place to my collection of "Philly favs" and definitely coming back here to try everything they have on the menu!

Amazing momos .. good vegetarian options. Small place but cute enough. Very tasty and different filling in each. Will come again.

Hello all! Brian here. My brother texted me the other day while I was at work to let me know that he saw a report on a restaurant in Philly that we hadn't heard of. It's called Nepali Momo Kitchen. We talked about going to check it out, and we went today. Located on the corner at 532 North 15th Street, this tiny little place packs a seriously delicious punch! Try to go early, as trying to find a place to park in the Fairmount area of Philadelphia isn't easy at all. We got lucky and parked close by. We went in and waited at the door until we were told that we could choose where we wanted to sit. The waiter brought over menus, and we sat for a moment to figure out what we wanted. Just a heads up: There aren't any photos of the food on the menu, and the menu is one sheet of paper with items on both sides. Do like I did, and open up Yelp while you figure out what you want. There are Chicken (items marked withe "Ck"), Goat, Shrimp, Vegetable, and Cheese dishes. There are noodles and fried rice as well. We had a ginger ale to drink with our food. When the waiter came back, and we began to order, he asked how spicy we wanted it. We said "medium" for the items we ordered. My brother had the Himalayan Noodles, and the Ck Jhol -- which we figured out was the soup style dish. I had the Nepali Himalayan Fried rice, and the House Special Combo Momo dish. There was water at the table already (which I love when restaurants do this), and you will need it. If you consider yourself someone who really loves spicy food, this may be in the Han Dynasty territory of heat -- sans a number system. I recommend just saying "medium" if you want some spicy heat in your food. It was plenty spicy for us! I've attached some photos I took of the food I had, to help you get an idea of dishes and portions. This place is EXCELLENT. We will definitely be going back. Having never had Nepalese food before, I don't know what the going rate for their dishes are. But, I don't feel like it was super expensive. I try to keep in mind that the ingredients of the dishes may have to be made with items from the homeland, and the price may what they are because of what it costs to import the real ingredients to make such amazing food. Make the trip to Nepali Momo Kitchen. Completely worth it!

The service was super friendly and prompt, getting dishes out at a solid pace and checking in on us. I personally appreciated their suggestions and brief chatting after hearing it was our first time visiting. We ordered multiple items off their menu, which has a lot of choices that are also vegetarian-friendly and customizable for diners with dietary restrictions. They're well-known for their Momo, which we had to try! In hindsight, I feel like I would've liked their spicier variety more as a fan of hot foods, but the classic Himalayan momo was excellent nonetheless. The sauce was delicious and paired well with the flavors. My favorite was their Gha (eggplant), which had me wanting more to each bite. The only moment that went wrong, albeit comically, was that our ice cream dessert melted quite quickly because of the restaurant needing to stay warm! White Yak definitely meets the seal of approval for both casual and delicious dining. Among the many highlights in Manayunk, this one stands just as tall as any.

My wife, acting as both navigator and oracle, found Norbu after I asked for something within walking distance of our hotel. Four Himalayan restaurants, all within a short stroll, which felt statistically suspicious in the heart of Amish country. We chose Norbu because it had the best reviews and, more importantly, because it offered Nepalese and Bhutanese dishes, which none of us had ever tried. We are a family that tries to make it a point to say yes to the unknown. Finding it is part of the adventure. Norbu is tucked along North Christian Street, though calling it a street feels optimistic at best. It is more of a very committed alley. The restaurant sits inside an office building with a few brave parking spaces placed carefully on postage stamp sized lot out front. Had we been driving, I am certain we would have missed it and continued on, poorer for the experience. Fortunately, we were on foot and arrived intact. Inside, the place was alive at 7 PM. There were low tables with stools that suggested a more traditional way of dining, and a couple of unoccupied standard tables for those of us still learning. We took one of the latter and were seated quickly. We began with momo, a dish that seems like could quietly solve many of the world's problems if placed on the right tables. Soft, hand folded dumplings, steamed and served with a savory chutney. We ordered the "Mix It All" option, which gave us vegetable, beef, and chicken. Each had its own personality, its own quiet argument for why it should be your favorite. My older son ordered the Sweet N Sticky Tofu, which was the most familiar thing we ate all night. It tasted like a thoughtful conversation between General Tso and sesame tofu. Very good, very well executed, just less novel. I had the Pak Sha Datsi, the national dish of Bhutan, which I did not know until I read it on the menu and our server filled in the missing information with patience and enthusiasm. Norbu itself, we learned, is rooted in Himalayan traditions and a desire to share the food and culture of Nepal and Bhutan with a wider audience, which feels like a noble use of time. The dish arrived as a gently spiced stew with pork and a blend of aged and smoked cheeses. It was creamy, delicate, and somehow grew more interesting with every bite. It did not resemble anything I had eaten before, which is a rare and welcome thing as I grow ever older. My wife and younger son both ordered the Nepali Thali, a kind of edible symphony made up of curry, lentils, vegetables, chutneys, pickles, and a dessert pudding. My wife chose the fish curry, which was tender and lightly flavored. My son chose the chicken curry, which quietly became the star of the table. It had a familiar warmth, something like Indian curry, but with its own distinct voice. The accompanying mustard greens, curried potatoes, and a simple mix of green beans, corn, and carrots, were so flavorful that we found ourselves marveling at them like tourists at a natural wonder. Service was excellent. Our waitress guided us through the menu, made thoughtful suggestions, and shared a bit of the restaurant's story. By the end of the meal, we felt not just fed, but informed. Our only failure was not saving room for dessert. There was a chai flavored cashew cheesecake that sounded like it might change a person's outlook on life. We will have to return to test this theory. Norbu is the kind of place you hope to find and rarely do. It is hidden, a little hard to reach, and entirely worth the effort. Five stars, because sometimes you find something amazing and new, and that reminds you that the world is still full of good surprises.

The Gulab Jamun was a miss. It lacked the syrup flavor I'm used to. The pricing was around $33 per person for what we ordered. There were leftovers.
