He answered all our questions during a face-to-face meeting prior to work starting, and was extremely communicative during the two days of work, letting me know how many decking sheets the work team would need to replace as they counted them, checking in when the 100-degree heat slowed the team down, and working with me to determine whether we wanted to go ahead and replace two damaged skylights along with the roof. I have never had a better experience with a contractor, as the skills needed for such work don't often seem to come with the same skills for customer service -- ACC and Alex specifically are the exception! The work itself is also excellent, and the team spent more than an hour at the end of a very long, hot day cleaning up my yard and sweeping the premises for any fallen nails or debris. I certainly don't expect to need a new roof again any time soon, but if I have any other projects within ACC's purview, I will be hiring them again in an instant.

Bravado came out and found through their various sensors that we had water damage in the ceiling of several rooms, the water shorted out our washer/dryer, and it was underneath our flooring. We escaped without having to re-do our kitchen or bathroom but basically the whole rest of the house now needs work. They set up ten huge fans (for a one bedroom, and cut away damaged drywall, and just generally got things done. While I'm not happy about the damage or the construction zone my home now is, I'm so happy with Bravado group! They came out quickly, worked efficiently and explained everything they were doing and looking for, stopped by on a weekend to check on the drying process and adjust any fans that needed adjusting, and just generally saved us from our own optimism and the potential mold that would have come with it.

I put out a request on Yelp for quotes on our project and received 4 responses. 2 of the companies were the same, but under different names. They came out, provided quotes, but were not licensed with the state. Jean Paul responded with a price and what was included. After a little back and forth, I asked him to inspect the job in person, which he did. He confirmed his price, and submitted an official quote. I was able to obtain our permit, HOA approval, verify JPQ Construction and Jean Paul were both licensed with Maryland state, as well verify the company's liability insurance. Other than a small hiccup with the start date due to not contacting Miss Utility, this project went really well. Jean Paul and his team are really nice to work with, did great work, and insures his work. We will work with him again!

Rather unprofessional lack of communication after an estimate…read more I met the estimator and we spent about an hour looking at the work needed at my property in June. They said it would take 1 week for them to send over the estimate. They've completely ghosted me for the last 2 months. I've sent three emails requesting updates on their estimate and no response. I'm disappointed that I took a day off from work to meet with their estimator, and now will need to get more quotes. IDS initially responded quickly to scheduling time to come out for the estimate on multistory porch rebuild, roof deck replacement and tuckpointing on my property in DC. They had asked about the scope of the work prior to coming out, so would have known if it was too small for their company. A simple "sorry we are too busy to take on the project" would be the minimum expected professional response from a real company.

Jeremy picked up the project and was able to solve for the moisture trapped in the plaster walls. Having a 100+-year home is challenging and solutions aren't always direct. Jeremy and team stayed the course. The quality and craftsmanship of their work is exceptional. They have become a trusted resource when it comes to fixes and home improvements. Last year, they converted my claustrophobic 4X7 bathroom into something livable. I consulted with other contractors and even an architect on possible solutions for making the space feel more open and liked Jeremy's approach best. He listened to what I wanted and found a way to successfully make it work. IDS even referred to an outstanding electrician this summer to upgrade my home from 60 to 200 amps. Jeremy, Junior and Adan are a great team, making the experience of owning an older home manageable. I can't thank them enough for all their hard work and dedication.

Recently, we purchased our home, that had a 50 year- old roof. Needless to say, getting a new roof was our first priority. After a google search for roofers, I called Exterior Remodeling and spoke with Mr. Gomez. He was prompt for our free estimate appointment. He inspected the roof, explained all of the details about the roof and the gutters and provided the estimate immediately. He didn't try to sell upscale me on things that I didn't need. The crew was on time the day of installation and extremely clean, leaving no debris. They were even nice enough to cut a few tree branches that were hanging over the house and fix a few of the siding panels that were unattached. We highly recommend Mr. Gomez, Chris and the Exterior Remolding team. Thank you for your service.

My project was a very large one. I first picked Affordable Home Improvement solely based on price…read more The compatators were quoting me prices that were 3 to 4 times higher than Sydney (Senior). Plan was to completely tare down the interior of the existing 4 units building and to expand it up and out into a 6 units building with increased number of bedrooms and NEW EVERYTHING! The Project was started in 2019 but a whole year was lost due to a bad architect who did not do his job at all. But together we were able to push through and get the building permit from DCHA and started work in 2020. Unfortunately, soon after COVID hit and everything slowed down or completely stopped so another year was lost. By 2021, post COVID eara, prices were much higher than when we started. What I really liked about working with Sydney was that we discussed the situation and came up with a plan that was fair for both of us to get the project moving. He was open to listen when I was not happy with the situation and would correct it. Since, I live in Atlanta and the project was in DC I had an independent 3rd party company do inspection for me intermittently to make sure things were done appropriately and Sydney would get the report and would work on everything that I thought needed to be addressed. The project was long and difficult but Sydney 's honesty and integrity to stay true to his word made this project successful. As you can see the pictures posted on top, Sydney was able to finish the project beautifully and not too far from the original budget. I would definitely recommend Sydney (senior) for a project such as mine!! Thank you. Munit.

I hired City Renovations & Remodeling for a bathroom remodel last summer 2020. Michael Wiggs,…read moreowner/project manager, was assigned to my project and he was/is extremely unprofessional, nothing was on time, disrespectful behavior towards myself during disagreements and provided horrible customer service throughout the entire project. I would not highly recommend working with him and in fact if you've already received services from him please seek legal counsel. The contract I signed stated that this business is LICENSED, BONDED and INSURED in DC, which it is not. The license provided on my contract expired in 2006 per DCRA website. This inaccurate information is fraud. Michael Wiggs consistently reneged on many of the contract terms which were previously negotiated at the time I signed the contract. My contract was signed May 15,2020. The contract stated the projected start date was June 22, 2020. Work did not begin until August 10th and a new contract was not created. In addition, the contract's projected duration of the project was 2 weeks, weather permitting. My project was not completed until November 11th (4 months for a small bathroom remodel). In my opinion this was due to Mr. Wiggs poor project management. The first 6 weeks of the project I was out of my Condo because this is my only bathroom and the financial hardships placed on me at a time when COVID-19 was shutting down the DC area put a ton of stress on me. I was paying for living arrangements I could not utilize and I did not budget to be gone for the amount of time I had to be. I never received any compensation for this failure of Michael Wiggs to maintain the project timeline. When I returned to my unit I only had a toilet. There was no vanity, sink, or shower installed. One of my allotments was pocketed without a service or product being given. The contract mapped out 6 disbursements of money. However, once the project was almost half way through I was told by my contractor they could only withdraw 2 times from my loan and we needed to withdraw asap before my money was gone. Lastly, in the contract under "items not included" permit cost was stated, but within my line items permit was listed at a cost of $0. I eventually had to have DCRA close out my permits because he refused to close them out. There was always consistent miscommunication and lack of accountability from Michael Wiggs business, every issue was met with contempt instead of trying to find a solution. After all of this occurred, Michael Wiggs attempted to bully me by having a lawyer, Perry L. Foreman Jr., reach out to me to settle in the amount of $1,080.77 or they would move to sue me to obtain what they believe is what they are owed. Please understand as a consumer an unlicensed business cannot sue you in a jurisdiction that they aren't licensed. That's literally the purpose of the license so that the business can be protected by local laws. I did not give in to this tactic and instead I reached out to DCRA and the Consumer Protection Agency. Both of these local government offices have been extremely disappointing because they act as if they can't take action on the exact situations they were established to perform. The intentions of this review are to make all consumers aware of his business practices, understand local government offices will not be of any assistance and the best way to resolve these issues is to not get involved with them. When looking for a contractor please contact a property management company for a referral or obtain a referral from a trusted family member/friend. Make sure to obtain a business license, business insurance and scope of work from all contractors.
