Not a big fan of Nelson RV. The pre-owned RV was absolutely filthy when we went to pick it up. Nelson had plenty of time to take care of this mess long before we came. I also understand that when purchasing a pre-owned vehicle, there will be issues. However there were many repairs along with the filth that should have been fixed before we left on a long road trip. We spent days on that trip trying to locate a store in a remote area to remedy serious problems that effected our existence and comfort in the RV. Unfortunately there was no follow up with these problems so my husband and I paid and fixed these repairs and cleaned the dirty RV ourselves. Not what should be a fun experience. My partner and I just bought our second late model class C motorhome from Nelson RV in Tucson. Our first experience was great- and, as expected, our second experience was just as good. The motorhome was just as advertised, and Dionne had all the paperwork ready for us. Miguel efficiently handled the delivery, and everything went great. Looked all around Arizona for the RV Trailer that I was trying to buy. Every other dealer, whether online or in person, tried to pressure me into buying something I did not want. I found what I wanted at Nelson RV and was able to check out the unit right there on the lot to make sure it was working. The price was excellent and the unit was in great shape. Bought it in December to pick up in January. All the paperwork was completed, registered and licensed upon pick up. I overlooked that the system was winterized so when I went to turn on the on-demand hot water heater, 3 months later, it wouldn't work because there was no water in the system as it had been emptied. One call for information to Nelson RV and they said bring it by and we will check the system. Wayne, the service manager, stopped what he was working on and fixed the situation by taking it out of the winterized mode, flushed and reset the system and made sure it was working normally. He also took the time to explain how to properly flush and restart the system. After all the time they spent helping me, they did not charge me for the service. I am confident that if I have questions or require maintenance in the future, Nelson RV will be there to help. I am very satisfied with my purchase and repair service ant Nelson RV. We paid $40,000 for our junk RV!!! Everytime we use it something major breaks on it. Also after owning it I had to redo all the poor workmanship and replace the shoddy materails the techs did to this junk pile. They responded to a review my wife left saying it was an as is sale. YEAH, WE KNOW THAT! Also, there is something known as buyer beware, and I say this is exactly what you need to do when buying from Nelson RV!!!!! There should be disclosure laws, so that someone buying such a large purchase knows exactly what was wrong with the thing! Because not everything was repaired and there are rottingg floors, slide motor not working, just runs but slide doesn't move, electric step not working, motor continues to run and won't stop, so I had to unplug it, I was driving 60 miles per hour on highway 61 when the motor turned off, thankfully I was right at a spot to be able to get off the road quickly, check engine light came on had to replace all the ignition coils and plugs on a unit that has just over 6,000 miles on it now, generator runs for about 5 seconds and quits, and I have only used it for about an hour and a half at most, we bought an external generator so we could be off grid and have power, steering wheeel shakes at 65 miles per hour and they were supposed to fix that issue right after we purchased this junk, front stablizer shock had to be replaced, shower is lose, and can't be screwed into wall because of all the rotted wood and trim boards are falling off the walls, drain pipes are leaking, screws for holding things are coming out, because they are completely rusted and the threads are nearly gone, bed under layment was a thin 1/8 inch wall panel, I had to replace it with plywood because it was bending when we got into the bed, the spare tire rack is completely rusted, so I can't mount the spare tire under it!!! The list just goes on and on! Beware before buying, and I recommend taking it to someone that knows RVs and have it checked out first. P.S. I had to replace the entry door handle because it broke, and I realized when starting to work on it,, the door frame was bent, because someone had to pry the door open at some time. There are more things that I have had to repair, but the list just keeps going and going...., I feel I have made my point, other than we still owe too much money for this piece of JUNK, and I can't sell it to even pay the thing off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To start, we live in far northern Illinois, so we purchased this unit via internet and had a friend check out the unit prior to us purchasing. Nice 5th wheel, ok price. Had the 5th wheel delivered to an RV site prior to our arrival. That said, communication from Nelson RV was poor, calls that were never returned was the norm. The unit was nice, the only issue we had was the fridge does not work on propane as it should. I did not call the dealer once we arrived as we had limited time in Tucson and due to the lack of previous communication just didn't want to get frustrated. Now that I'm home will have a RV tech look at it and pay him. Happy traveling read more

Purchased a used 2015 Montana 5th wheel from Nelson RV and could not be more satisfied with James and the crew. Most reviews say this is a family run business and I can confirm that everyone at Nelson RV is top notch and works hard to uphold their reputation. Drove from Glendale to look at and purchase the unit. Absolutely no pressure at all. Identified a few items of concern and when I returned the next week to pick up the 5th wheel everything was addressed and even a few things that were missing from the original factory supplied items had been ordered and put in place. Took delivery and was concerned about the refrigerator not cooling properly. drove home to Glendale (it was 110 degrees) and the unit was at 60 degrees. Called James and he said bring it back and they would replace the cooling unit. Went back down the next weekend to have it replaced and found that Dometic had shipped the wrong unit and there was none available for weeks. We were leaving on a 3 week trip in 10 days and we needed the refrigerator to be working. James offered to replace the double door unit with a brand new Norcold. I was able to secure a used Dometic double door unit to replace the original and we made the swap that same day. Nick who is an unbelievable tech went over every part of the rig prior to delivery and spent a really late night getting the new/used refrigerator installed so I could head home on Saturday. For a dealer to offer to pay for a new $4500 refrigerator to fix an issue after the sale is a huge indicator as to how much they value their customers. It's possibly true that used vehicle salesmen the world over are all alike, but I think I've found an exception. For nearly six months I shopped Tucson for a good, used 5th wheel travel trailer. I hit all the big dealerships down along I-10; hunted Craigslist; and kept an eye on the classified ads in the local fishwrapper. Especially among dealers, the salespeople seem almost all to have some type of scam that sounds good on the surface but works out to be slimy when you dissect it. I finally wound up buying a used rig at Nelson RV on north Flowing Wells Road, and I haven't been disappointed. One of the biggest selling points I found was the vehicle warranty. The big outfits usually offered me a 30-day fix-it assurance. Nelson gave me 90 days. On many 5th wheels I inspected, tread on the tires was well on the way to being shot. "Oh, we can take care of that for you," was the typical response from the big boys when I pointed out the deficiency. So, why didn't they "take care" of it before putting the thing up for sale? Nelson RVs that I looked at (and I looked at many) uniformly had excellent tread, and the dealership hands-down assured me that brakes, bearings, etc., were in top shape. We DID encounter a few glitches. Three months-plus after I had purchased the trailer, a holding tank seal began leaking (this vehicle is 11 years old). Nelson replaced not only the one bad seal, but all of them, voluntarily, without being asked, at no cost, and that task involves having to remove the under-flooring to get inside at the seals. This was well past their 90-day warranty. At one point I discovered a spot alongside one of the slide-outs where caulking seemed to be sparse. Nelson not only re-did that area of caulk, but also applied more in multiple spots along window seals, even though I'd not experienced any leakage. One upgrade for which I had opted on my own was an electronic door lock (I purchased it direct, and had Nelson install it.) On two occasions the lock failed to work, and I sent it back to the manufacturer (purchase price was $250-plus). Even though Nelson wasn't responsible for the failure, it had its techs remove and replace the lock at no charge to me, and that chore involved moving the strike plate and grinding it down in order to fit. This company is by no means large, but it's family-owned, and it honors both contract language and spirit. I give Nelson RV a solid thumbs-up. read more

Last summer we wanted to purchase an R.V. of some sort but did not know where to begin. We had never owned a trailer, 5th wheel, or motor home before. So we went to our local dealers, looked around, and finally decided on a front living room 5th wheel. But we did not know if the dealers asking price was fair. So we did a nation wide search for the same model 5th wheel (Montana FL3685) and found the same exact unit for substantially less money at Nelson RV. Not only was the asking price more than $5,000 less but Nelson RV's had much better features such as new appliances, new tires, and cleaner carpet. Upon purchasing the coach I discovered that these upgrades were done by Nelson RV (not the prior owner) before they even listed it for sale. And upon visiting the dealership I discovered that ALL of their coaches are meticulously clean, thoroughly inspected, and well maintained. It is also important to note that prior to purchasing the 5th wheel, we had never even owned a truck. When I advised owner James Nelson of the 5th wheel we were interested in, he spent an incredible amount of time helping us purchase a good quality truck that could not only handle the 5th wheel we wanted but one that had a good quality reputation as well. And although we purchased the truck in L.A., James Nelson helped me negotiate the deal. And he did this before we even visited his facility and certainly under no obligation to purchase a 5th wheel from him. My wife and I were happy to drive the 460 miles each way to Tuscon as we saved thousands of dollars by doing so. We have lived in our coach full time for one month now and everything is in excellent working order and without problems. I have had a few questions about the basics like emptying tanks and cleaning filters and Nelson RV has picked up the phone every time and helped me along the way. Let me tell you about my experience. I was an out of state buyer & had found a used unit at NelsonRV. I had called & spoke with James. I was very apprehensive putting a down payment to hold a unit but James was very assuring & was more than happy to refund the deposit if I didn't like the unit once I came in state. He walked me through the ins & outs, making sure I was aware of local Independent RV inspectors, lenders, ect. James was extremely helpful & knowledgable. I placed a deposit & was expecting it to only be a week before I made it in town. Unfortunately it was almost 3! Meanwhile James is turning down buyers in hopes I was going to purchase. James stated he could have sold this unit 4 times as he was waiting for us to show up. James was a good sport & said he stood by his word. My wife and I had been looking for our first RV for quite some time. After looking for about three months at ten or so larger RV dealers in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas we came across Nelson RV in Tucson, AZ. We were told by the big dealers to avoid the smaller dealers as they could not possibly deliver the price and quality of service the bigger dealers could. Naturally, we were reluctant to look into a smaller dealer, but after several months of looking without success we explored Nelson RV's inventory on the internet. Much to our surprise we located the fifth wheel we were looking for. Robert, James and Lisa treated us wonderfully. They patiently showed us all the units in their inventory, answered all our questions (even the less intelligent ones from us newbies), and gave us some helpful ideas in dealing with the larger dealers. After visiting several more larger dealers, we settled on a fantastic deal on a 2006 NuWa HitchHiker II LS in near perfect condition from Nelson RV. As part of our dealings, we received a state-of-the-art PullRite Superglide hitch installed; trailer wiring; and new tires, , awning cover, battery and bedding without additional charge and without asking. They also supplied us with some wheel covers, leveling blocks and chocks. And, best of all we met some fantastic people who never applied any pressure and were genuinely concerned that we find the RV that met our needs. read more
