Review of My Love/Hate Relationship with Nellis Auction (Phoenix) Nellis Auction is basically MAC.BID's slightly more organized cousin... but the chaos still lives there. The good news: the items are usually described much better during bidding, and most of the time you actually get really cool stuff for ridiculously cheap prices. I've scored some genuinely awesome finds that made me feel like a professional bargain hunter. One of the best parts is the pickup system. You schedule an appointment, pull into the lot, and they actually bring the items out to your car. No wandering around a giant warehouse playing "Where's My Stuff?" like a scavenger hunt. That alone deserves points. Flexible payment options are also nice, especially for those of us who occasionally make questionable late-night bidding decisions. Another nice feature is that if your account is in good standing, you can choose not to complete the purchase if you decide the item really wasn't what you needed after all. It doesn't automatically charge your card the next morning and leave you feeling personally victimized by your own bidding habits. Now... the other side of the relationship. Every once in a while, an item you won mysteriously becomes "not found." Poof. Gone. Refunded like it never existed. And of course it's always the one item you were actually excited about. Then there are the updated terms of service. Let's just say if you miss or need to reschedule your pickup appointment, G-d help you. There are restocking fees, rescheduling fees, and possibly a fee for breathing the wrong way near the parking lot. Even if you submit multiple help desk tickets through ZenDesk explaining the situation, you may still be waiting on a response long enough to question your life choices. I'm currently still waiting on my last ticket... but I'm not holding my breath. Customer service chat can also be... entertaining. Some reps seem about as familiar with the policies as the rest of us are. And then there's the pickup check-in system. Each parking spot has a printed QR code hanging on a pole that you're supposed to scan. In theory, great idea. In reality... it works about as often as my Wi-Fi during a monsoon. Item condition can also be a gamble. One time I bought a "brand new Sonicare toothbrush - new in package." It arrived looking like it had already lived a full and meaningful life in someone else's bathroom. Straight to the garbage. Pro tip: never buy clothing. You may receive items that appear to have been previously loved... worn... returned... and possibly attacked by deodorant. I once opened a child's coat that had deodorant stains on it and immediately escorted it directly to the trash like it was a biohazard. It definitely feels like nobody is actually checking these items, and you can't really inspect them before leaving either. So sometimes you win big... and sometimes you win a future trip to the garbage can. BUT... despite all of this... it's still weirdly fun. It's like a digital treasure hunt where most of the time you actually do find something cool -- and often brand new -- for way cheaper than retail. Do I sometimes question my choices? Yes. Do I still open the app and start bidding again? Also yes. Overall rating: Better system, better finds, slightly less chaos... but still a thrilling little gamble. Watch Nellis go out of business for their RIDICULOUS new terms of service. This place has been going down hill FAST the part year. They cant even be bothered to inspect the items before listing them. The items they sell here are junk. Half the time the item isn't as described and/ is missing one or more items. Save your money. The "value" isn't really there. There's a REASON these items were returned to Amazon and not relisted. You'll get a better deal at a garage sale. And returns take DAYS (5-14 business days to be exact) to process and refund. It's really not even worth it anymore. My last large purchase (16 items) EVERYTHING had to be returned because it was either broken, missing pieces, ripped, stained, completely empty, non functional, not as described, or the wrong size. Two words: FALSE ADVERTISING Purchased a Roomba that was marketed as "new". I was in the process of moving and did not immediately try it out, thinking that their return window would be at least 30 days. Later came to find out it is only 7 days. Surprise surprise, the product was not new whatsoever. I was unable to connect to the Roomba to my account because it was locked through someone else's account. Factory resets did not work. After hours of working with Roomba support to get the machine unlocked, then unstuck from language settings, the freaking thing doesn't even work. It spins in circles. Spent another hour troubleshooting with Roomba support and they eventually say the sensors on the bumper must be faulty, and that cannot be replaced. Roomba Support at least tried to be helpful by offering a 20% discount on a new full priced product, but with what I already spent at Nellis, that puts me over the price of just having bought a brand new one in the first place. Oh Roomba also mentioned the device had been linked to THREE OTHER OWNERS since the original purchase date. "New"...ok Nellis. Reached out to Nellis and they are firm on their return window and will not offer any help whatsoever (responses were basically, "sorry but you're sh*t out of luck!") Another note is the service I got when picking up the product was less than satisfactory. This location has horrible cell service, which you need to initiate the pick up process, and when I got out of my car to ask somebody for help, they said I was "lucky the old man wasn't out there or I [me, the customer] would've been yelled at". Really? I almost never post bad reviews, but horrible service needs to be put on blast. I was already weary of supporting this company, but now I know for sure I will never support them again and advise anybody else from doing so. read more

I've used this auction company before and have previously been satisfied, but my most recent experience was very frustrating. I won an auction for a listing titled "NIVEA Essentially Enriched Body Lotion 16.9 oz (Pack of 10)" with an estimated retail value of $95.33. The item details also stated it was new, functional, no damage, in package, and no missing parts. Based on the title, description, and retail value, I understood this to mean I was bidding on a 10-pack of lotion. When I arrived for pickup, I was told there were only two bottles. I explained that the listing clearly said "Pack of 10" and that the retail value supported that description. The photo showed two bottles, but I reasonably assumed the picture was showing the packaging style or that they came in sets of two. In my opinion, the written listing should accurately describe what the buyer is receiving. The manager told me I "should go off the picture" and offered only two options: leave the item and get a refund, or take the two bottles. I ended up taking them, but I essentially paid full retail, or possibly more, for only two bottles, when I bid believing I was purchasing a 10-pack. I understand mistakes happen, but auction listings need to be accurate. A title and retail value showing a 10-pack, while only providing two bottles at pickup, creates a misleading experience and feels very bait-and-switch. Be careful buying things here. I purchased some airpod pros which were marketed as new. I even took screenshots of the ad just so that it could not be changed on their end later. It said the AirPods worked and were functional. This will be important later on. I pick the pods up and they were completely drained battery wise so I found that weird. I get home charge them up and try to connect them and they work but it says "Gemma's Airpods". In my eyes the pods are used the second they connect to someone's phone and apple account. I then get an apple message saying that the original owner could see my location at all times. Due to apple security there is no way to turn this off on your end it must be done by the owner before they sell them. In my eyes Nellis knowingly sold them as new when they knew they were used because how did you know they worked and not connect them to a phone? You would have known they were used. Which would have made me never purchase to begin with. So if you think you are getting new be careful. Also apple products have these settings built in so while it looks like a deal its not. Sometimes the check in code doesn't work so a worker ca check you in by phone number. I always bring a opener to make sure items aren't damaged and are acceptable. DO NOT TRUST THE LISTING DESCRIPTIONS!!! Major complaint for who ever inspects and posts items at Nellis Auction. I purchased two separate loft beds this week (different brands and models), one from the Mesa and one from the Phoenix warehouse. Each time, the item was listed as "New", "No Missing Parts", and "Functional". However, upon opening the items at home, each had numerous missing parts and both were missing the hardware and instructions to assemble. One had clearly been used as the frames had multiple scratches and damage. These were each supposedly "inspected" and had photos posted, but neither were as described or listed. I believe the overall issue is poor leadership at Nellis Auctions who train their staff to be fast instead of thorough. I believe this due to the issue occurring at two separate warehouses, for two different items. Train staff to actually slow down and look through an items to make sure ALL pieces are there, don't assume by popping the top of the box off only. I live 20 minutes from the Mesa location and 1 hour from the Phoenix location, each way. I know others travel from even further. What would've taken the staff an additional 5-10 minutes for my two items combined cost me over 6 hours in pick up, sorting, repacking and returning the items. read more

And when I got home with one box, it did not have all the parts to be able to put together a patio couch. I love Nellis Auction and treat it like a thrifting treasure hunt. I've gotten amazing things for a fraction of the retail cost, and I'm reducing waste by using what others have already purchased. Pickups are a breeze, they really have their system down. The only thing I'd caution is to check your items immediately bc I have received some incorrect items as well as some broken or defective ones. I would liken the Nellis online auctions to thrifting. You have to be patient with the process because you know that the prices are well below retail value. Yes some of the final auction bids that you win may seem too good to be true and other times it doesn't work out due to the item not being as described in the ad. I have become a regular with Nellis because there is a very flexible policy with returning items with no hassle if you are not satisfied. For the auction to improve, if the descriptions of the items were more accurate, that would be super helpful. There are some glitches in the app which can be frustrating, but that's OK because a new auction happens every day with similar items. As a regular, if I could give a tip, I would say, if there is an item you love, if it is at the beginning of it's 24 hour auction., either get on the watchlist or only bid once and wait until you get an alert from Nellis Auction with 1 minute and 53 seconds remaining in the auction and then aggressively bid so the price does not get run up over the course of 24 hours and then the item is near retail value. Sometimes I wonder if bidders on the most random items are Nellis Employees running up the price against you. eBay is more transparent because all Bidders have a name linked to their bid instead of just Bidder #1 to Bidder #6 etc. Overall, I'm very happy with my grabs at the Nellis auction. read more

Thought I was getting a good deal on a Breville espresso maker marked "minor damage" I was expect a scratch, maybe a dent but no the milk steamer doesn't work and apparently according to them I should have set up in the parking lot and PROMPTLY whipped it out and tested it right then and there, because apparently it's my fault I believed them. She refused to take a return because it was 1 day late, I explained that we had a holiday where they were closed, I initialized it last night after 6pm but that explanation did not matter to her. She would not hear any of my feedback regarding the continuous bad listings. I asked to speak with another manager and was told she is the only manager. I like the ease of the website when we win a bid, the selection of date and time and the confirmation. The picking up of the items at the facility is also very easy with traffic control and the quickness of the employees taking your order number and delivering your item to your car. Almost anything on Amazon you can find here online with some patience. I like being able to scroll, but definitely a hit or miss since they are open returns. I dislike the new minimum bid of 10% or $5 (whichever is lower) since it certainly drives the price up and they don't adjust if it's only partial of the pack (e.g. it's supposed to be a pack of 10 face masks, but only 3 are in there so the retail value is based off the full 10 pack). Definitely appreciate the curb side pick up and feel bad for the employees going in/out of the sun. The line can get pretty bad, but it does move quick. Also appreciate the 7 day return. I drive a pick up truck and the employees usually direct you to a parking spot. More often than not, it's quite annoying they don't take large vehicles into consideration and usually try to have me park in a tiny space with other cars/people movement in the area. I obviously don't want get into accident and am fine waiting for another spot, but the employees are quite ignorant and will blatantly scream at you. This was a great bargain hunt for those in the valley. Leading up to 2025, it has been a pretty solid option. Only one time had them mess up an auction. Decent deals and in some cases outright bargains. Then 2025 rolled in and seems the staff stopped working. The cataloging of items, pictures and overall condition are not accurate. Just last week picked up 8 items and 6 are being returned due to inaccurate description or missing items. All were noted as working and all components included. Here are the 8 items and issues: 1 - Missing charger and accessories on vacuum, when listing noted that nothing is missing. 2 - Missing all clips for roof sunscreen 3 - Missing strap on pelican wallet, when picture shows strap attached. 4 - AirPod case initial of original owner written all over case and clip is broken. 5 - Steamer not operational 6 - Steamer missing accessories There are several items I was looking for here, but now decided to just buy an Amazon and not deal with the nonsense to save a few $'s. read more

I love finding something I wanted and getting it for less than fraction of the price. So far I had great success in the items I won. 1 item out of 30-40 items I purchased was returned due to damaged and not as detailed. However everything else was described and pictures matched. Also when paying you select your time of pick up. I swear the ones delivering your items to you are definitely robots. It's humanly impossible to get in and out in the time they do it. Fantastic for years but things have changed. :( We've bought from them in AZ for years and the products and service was always excellent. They used to be a gem of a business! Recently we purchased over 25 items and about 1/3 of them had major problems we couldn't have seen without opening and assembling everything immediately or the boxes didn't contain what was listed in the auction. Entirely our fault for believing the labels on the boxes. Missing a few parts here and there is to be expected with the volume they do, we don't expect perfection when the discounts are good. Unfortunately, these items were non-functional, grossly mislabeled, and/or unable to be used. Contacted Nellis within 2 weeks of picking the items up and they sent a nonsensical reply (see image). The response says we are outside the 7 day window and thus ineligible for returns. Then they explain how to return the items?? Their customer service ignored everything in our email: the excessive weight of the mislabeled items, our being 7+ hours away, etc. Things have changed with Nellis unfortunately. This is 100% on me. I keep shopping here hoping for better, but I'd say about 60-70% of the time, the items are not as described or damaged. I already know this but keep coming back! It's insane, I admit. When so much of their merchandise is not as described, what's really going on is that Nellis is making the customer an unpaid employee to catalogue these damages for them when they bring them back as returns. This review is because I bought an expensive item that was described as having no damage and when I get it home -- not even opening it -- I notice hand written on the side "CRACKED" right on the box. How did Nellis not see this? This item looks like Lowe's return and the prior owner wrote "cracked" on the box to help others... except... Nellis failed to note it in the auction. --SEE UPLOADED PHOTO-- So, shop at your risk with the understanding that you will be the unpaid help, helping them catalogue the damage that their staff seems to either not see or work too fast to actually accomplish. read more
