    Iced latte
    Yanli X.

We got an iced latte. The latte was shaken and well mixed. Flavor wise it was more on the acidic tart side, which is not my preference. Service was good. There was only one person working, but he was quick to give us our order. Overall the space is very beautiful, clean, and relaxed, although on a Monday afternoon there were only 3 other people. They have lots of tables with outlets and free Wi-Fi so this would be a good place to do some work. The street is a little rougher (maybe because there are multiple vape shops nearby).

Nektar was a recommended stop by a close friend of mine. I was not disappointed! The cafe had a unique style with its fun light fixtures and hanging plants. My latte was also made with a lot of love, as the milk to espresso ratio was exactly what I was looking for.

It is cool to see coffee culture expand across America (South/Central/North, not the USA). It is very important also, because most of the best coffee comes from Central and South America. You have traditional Chiapas from Mexico, Salvadorean coffee, Costa Rican coffee, Colombian coffee which has been going through a revival and no longer is a cheap imitation of Ethiopian coffee, Brazilian coffee, and of course, undeniably unique Peruvian Chanchamayo coffee. And I said important, because most people fail their geography tests. We have a generation that can only point Russia, China and Cuba, our communist enemies trying to take over, while the following generation only knows of our other threat: the Middle East. But thanks to coffee, we can rejoice in the beauty of our continent and know some countries in it besides the above mentioned ones. Changing gears: Nektar is a place that embraces diversity in coffee. I got some coffee from Guatemala, amazing, and I also got a roasted pineapple tea, also great. The baristas were proud of their coffee, and had actually traveled to Colombia. Coffee is one of those things that brings people together. These people know coffee, and if you want to learn about it, this is a good place to start your education.

Coffee was weak and service unpleasant. We ordered small cappucino that was instead served in a larger to go cup? Our pastry was put in a bag but staff wasn't concerned about quality or accuracy. I would not recommend.

Among the top 3 matcha lattes I've ever had. Not too sweet or bitter. Also one of the top chai teas: smooth, spice, not too sweet. Huge sweating space. Great spot to take cover on a cold New Year's Day. Cute merch for sale and lots of coffee and coffee brewing gear!

Four of us out-of-towners found this place on an October trip and were glad for a place that was open and had room for us. Nice that they do have a good amount of space. Order at the counter. Find a seat. Clean up after yourself. Coffee & tea are good. Pastries good.

A great coffee spot in the Saint - Roche area of Quebec City. When we came there were many locals just sitting around drinking coffee and getting work done on their laptops. The space is light and airy so if I lived in the area I could see myself hunkering down to to get some work done. I had a classic latte which was good. We also tried the hot chocolate but decided we didn't like that because it tasted like they made it with water. I'd be back if I was in the area again.

Spacious and clean inside, tried the fudge brew, which is iced coffee and milk chocolate. I got it without the sugar and added some milk. It wasn't overly sweet and the coffee was smooth and not bitter. We went next door for some pastries. Highly recommend if you're nearby!

I went an hour before closing and it was nice and quiet atmosphere to talk with a close friend. Even the music on the speakers was not too loud or distracting! There were a few people working on the laptop, some sitting on couches talking, and a couple behind us. The coffee was nothing special, but we were offered to order a new bean variety. The prices were affordable for our budget.

Time of Visit: Early evening on August 19th Order: Cappuccino, iced latte Pros: Strength of the coffee, coffee house "feel", odd coffee creations Cons: n/a Thoughts: This is the winning coffee shop of our trip into Quebec, in fact it easily ranks in the top 10 coffee shops I've ever visited. This is saying a lot given that my wife and I have visited easily over 100 coffee shops around the world and are EXTREMELY picky when it comes to coffee. The coffee here is strong, not the we're trying to make a point and kill you strong. More like the I want my espresso with some bite strong, as in the perfect amount of strong. These people knew how to pull a shot, both the cappuccino and the iced latte were some of the best I had ever had, and neither of them tasted watered down at all they were both as close to perfect creations I you could have gotten. This place also felt like a coffee shop, I honestly like my coffee shops large, where multiple groups of people can gather to talk, hang out, play games, or just enjoy the perfect cup of coffee together. This place definitely had that vibe; it could easily several large groups of people. There were plenty of tables and chairs, along with a few couches, soft chairs, and bar style seating. Walking in I immediately wanted to sit down and take my time with our coffee; unfortunately I didn't have the luxury of time as we had someplace to be shortly but I wish I could go back just to enjoy the atmosphere. I love being in a coffee shop almost as much as I like drinking coffee so finding a great example of each in the same location was a real treat. They also had a lot of odd coffee "creations". They had mugs, t-shirts (ridiculously cheap t-shirts I might add, they were less than $10 so my wife and I each bought one), coffee of all varieties, and one coffee oddity I just had to try; pulped coffee. It comes in a large bag and, as the wonderful barista explained to me, you brew it like tea by adding hot water and letting it steep for 8 minutes. I have never tried this method of coffee and was so excited about trying coffee a new "way", this is incredibly rare given all the coffee we drink. Overall this place was just amazing. It easily earns its way into the list of best coffee houses I have ever visited; joined the ranks of truly legendary coffee houses like Two Story Coffeehouse in Athens Georgia and Bold Bean Coffee in Jacksonville Florida. It is depressing that I will almost certainly never get the chance to visit this place again.

Typical QC coffee spot. Good latte. Good apricot croissant although not super fresh. The barrista was distracted and a bit unfriendly.

Darn you Canada! Darn you and your insane good ability to have foods made better than in the Yay…read moreArea! Ha ha ha! You'll know why I'll type this in a bit. Cochon Dingue, The Crazy Pig in French, is a chain of Quebec Provence French restaurants that according to their site combines bistro refinement with the feel of a local laid back atmosphere. It just so happens that I'm typing a review for the original location on Quebec City's Champlain and Traversiers intersection. Of course, you'll see both English and French on the menus, and I felt bad that my French is horrible as I visited Quebec City and Montreal, but remember. San Jose and the Bay Area as a whole are Spanish speaking areas given its history, not French, and while I'm at it, Tagalog and Spanish are way more similar than Tagalog and French. It is nice that the Toronto cousin driving us around can still speak it to a point though. Before I forget, do realize that though there are two entryways, only one of them is really walkable, as the other's closed off. As I insert the old "Yes guys, the ladies are cute" and "Yes ladies, the guys are cute" statements pair, I notice how the place has that simple old school French charm, and I get that hospitality that will always stick with me. I wish I can remember what drink I had as it is pretty, but I do remember ordering a Quebec City pork sandwich (I need to coordinate after all as Mr. John Witherspoon would have wanted) and a pavlova dessert along with the group ordering a deluxe poutine. Oh, remember the "Darn you and your insane good ability to have foods made better than in the Yay Area!" statement I typed up, the second statement of this review? This is in regards of the pavlova. So, the first time I had a pavlova was at an Oakland/Berkeley Japanese restaurant called Iyasare (which I actually reviewed). I told our server that I had a pavlova in/near Oakland, and she asked me to see if theirs is better. Normally, I don't like nuts of some sort with berries in desserts, but this place made me actually like the format because a pavolva isn't so much of a guilt dessert, and with this in mind, I developed now the fondness of nuts with fruits with low guilt/guilt free desserts. I still don't like nuts with fruits in desserts, but that now only applies to guilty desserts. Our server went back to our table and asked if she and everyone else at Cochon made a better pavlova than the one at Iyasare. Seeing that I couldn't lie because Canada, I told her yes, which had her giddy. Go be giddy young lady! Yay Canada getting another food victory! The flaw. Seeing that "They made a better pavlova than my fellow Yay Area residents!" isn't a legit flaw, though my one visit was and is memorable, the one flaw the various locations have in general if I should even call it one is that they add Swiss cheese to their Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. I get that it's to have a healthy cheese, and French is spoken in Switzerland, but adding Swiss to the sandwich is a Philadelphia no-no. Cochon Dingue is quite a fabulous place. If it weren't for the perfect score Toronto places I reviewed, Fran's and Makilala (as Tsujiri is shown all over Canada, which is why I didn't type it up), this would have been my favorite Canadian restaurant. To Canadian residents not in Toronto, I'm sorry that none of your beloved restaurants will ever be my top Canadian spot, but remember. Toronto has the most Filipinos of all of your cities, and of course, I'll have that attachment like they do. At least you can hang your hat on how you have a place that makes a better pavlova than my fellow Bay Area residents! So, for people not from Canada, go check the place out, as it's that good! +/Cochon Dingue is cleverly divine for having some of the best hospitality I experienced, the simple old French charm and really good food. -/"You can't put Swiss cheese in Philly's classic sandwich, everyone!"

I ordered the half rack of ribs, which was a mixed bag. The flavor was good, but several ribs were so burnt they were completely inedible--straight to the discard pile. They came with a well-dressed Caesar salad featuring seasoned croutons and delicious shaved bacon, plus sliced fried potatoes that were crispy and not greasy in the least. The thick layer of BBQ sauce wasn't quite my style--I'm a dry rub girl--but I was too hungry to care much. No photos because I devoured everything. My dining companion had a chicken sandwich she raved about. She ordered a Nordic spritz while I indulged in some Quebec cider. Honestly, I expected more pork options given the restaurant's name, but they fed us quickly and efficiently, which was exactly what we needed. No real complaints except for those burnt ribs. The interior has eclectic, cool-looking decor that's worth checking out. Our waitress provided quick and efficient service as well.
