Review of M.S Garage Door - Overcharging, Incomplete Work & Not Licensed…read more I hired M.S. Garage Door to replace my garage opener. Instead of receiving professional service, I was left overcharged and with incomplete work. Later, I discovered that the company may not even be properly licensed. Extreme Overcharge I was billed $1,900 for a Chamberlain 1/2 HP chain-drive opener that costs $179 at Home Depot. Additionally, I paid $475 for installation, a $142.50 service fee, and $150.81 for tax, totaling $ 768.31. Other local companies quoted $550-$750 total for the same job, including installation. The markup here is beyond unreasonable. Poor Installation Despite the inflated price, the job wasn't finished: Safety sensors were not replaced. I never received the box, manual, or warranty card. The remote can open the garage but not close it. To shut it, I must use the wall control and exit through the front door. Response from Company When I complained, I was told that because I signed their invoice, I had "no recourse." Their receipt says "all sales final, no refunds." They offered only to "come back and complete everything," but I had lost all trust. BBB Licensing Warning The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has issued an alert confirming that M.S. Garage Door does not have the necessary license from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP). This means they may be operating illegally in the state of Connecticut. Why It Matters 10× markup on the opener's real price. Incomplete, defective work. No accountability, hiding behind "no refunds." Unlicensed, according to BBB. What I've Done I have filed complaints with the DCP, the BBB, and my credit card company to dispute the charges. Final Word This company is not trustworthy. They overcharge, fail to complete work, and operate without proper licensing. For your own protection, avoid M.S Garage Door and choose a licensed, reputable company instead.
