Unneighborly…read more Waking up to their crew yelling in our residential neighborhood before 7 am, working start time, for months is the least of my worries. Being sworn at by their staff is not neighborly. They seen to forget that the street does not belong to them. What's truly frustrating, and why I would never suggest the company- they do not use working phone numbers for their permits that they file with the city. So getting ahold of someone when there's a real issue is impossible. For example, their construction crew is causing a very serious and dangerous issue with the buses scheduled to pick up preschoolers each school day in the morning. They are blocking the road with cranes and equipment in the middle of the bus stops. This causes an unsafe situation. It has also caused children on the street to miss school. Since where their bus stops is being used as a construction area. But since the company does not post any working numbers for permit or the public then there no way to discuss with the owner or manager how unsafe they are being when blocking the street with equipment in the am. And since those on the site are no receptive to discussions with neighbors about problems- problems continue to mount. I like being told to go "fuck myself" and that I'm fat whenever I ask the crew when the will be moving their equipment out of the middle of the road as they block our entries streets access, but especially my front door. This builder runs a real classy crew. I can't wait until they're done building near us. It's horrific and it makes me resent our new neighbors who haven't even moved it but bought with them.

At our request, we asked for our project to be postponed until early spring due to lack of materials and opening our home to the elements, it was not practical. Construction was to begin right after Easter 2021 but we received notification through an email less than a week before starting that they were no longer going to do our project. There was a huge lack of communication throughout the entire process and when we did actually speak to either Bobby or one of his employees, we were assured each time that everything was in order and those few things that were not would be taken care of in the next couple of days. However we would never get a response on finalization of those particular concerns. We had given a lump sum of money in summer 2021 and asked it to be returned when the agreement was made to start in spring and a new check would be issued. They gave us the run-around and no money was returned until after they canceled and less all our permits which are only good until summer, which is impossible to get a new contractor in that short amount of time. I highly recommend you do your research before you higher a contractor. Make sure to ask for references as well. In the end, I am glad that RJ Steele Construction did not open up my house.

There are also some architectural corbels on the front they restored as well! They procured the paint in the colors I requested, hauled away the debris, and even cleaned the gutters and touched up paint on part of the adjacent dormers even though it wasn't in their scope. When it came time to fix the ceiling, we could not get the previous company to return our calls so we turned to MXCP Construction. We had a consultation over the phone and I agreed for them to start the job the following week. They arrived promptly, assessed the damage in person, and talked me through the repair and patch process. They got to work right away and finished the repairs on the same day including the texture. The ceiling repair had to dry so it could not be completed on the same day. The crew cleaned up and took all the debris with them. The price was reasonable, they were timely, and the ceiling looked good!

I hired Simple Fix Home Repair and Remodeling for two large projects and unfortunately had a very…read morefrustrating experience from start to finish. For the first project, they removed and rebuilt a set of egress steps at the rear of a duplex. I provided professional drawings, site plans, and had already requested the permit through the City of Pittsburgh, so expectations were clear from the start. Communication throughout the project was extremely poor. I consistently had to chase down Brad, the project manager, just to get basic updates. He would often respond saying he needed to check with Tyler (the onsite worker), but then I would have to follow up again to actually get any answers. There was no proactive communication, and workers would often show up without notice, which made managing the project unnecessarily stressful. Quality of work on the first project was also disappointing. During the final inspection, several items did not pass. One of the required fixes was to apply silicone between the new deck and the house. The result was shockingly sloppy--silicone was smeared across the wood in multiple areas instead of being neatly applied where needed. It honestly looked like it was done with no care or attention to detail. The second project involved multiple items identified on a borough inspection report, including building a deck, installing handrails with baluster guards, replacing floor jacks with mono columns, and installing a condensate pump to eliminate a PVC drain line that was a tripping hazard. Unfortunately, the same issues continued--and in some cases were worse. The scope of work was clearly defined in the inspection report, yet key items were done incorrectly. For example, the existing basement pipe handrails were removed as requested, but instead of installing code-compliant handrails with baluster guards, they installed simple wood handrails without any baluster protection. Similarly, they were instructed to replace floor jacks with permanent mono columns. Instead, they initially installed new floor jacks again. After I raised the issue, they returned to install mono columns--but even then the work was not done correctly. The posts were installed with undersized screws at the top and were not bolted to the floor at all. When I questioned this, Brad responded that drilling bolts into the concrete might cause it to "blow apart" and said I would need to sign off on any risk if they proceeded. This was not an acceptable solution. I ultimately had to hire another contractor to properly secure the posts with appropriate fasteners and anchoring. A few weeks later, another serious issue surfaced: the condensate pump had been wired incorrectly into the furnace circuit board. I had a licensed HVAC company come out, and they confirmed and documented the improper installation. In addition to the workmanship issues, there are still unfinished items. When the deck was built, piles of dirt were left in the backyard with the promise they would return to clean it up. That has still not been completed. Between the lack of communication, repeated mistakes, incomplete work, and the need to hire additional professionals to correct their errors, this was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend Simple Fix Home Repair and Remodeling based on the quality of work and overall project management.

Botched chimney flashing repair…read more I hired Monroy to replace my chimney flashing that was leaking inside the house and causing water damage to the wall in an upstairs bedroom and my living room below. The job also included caulking the J-channel that ran up and down the entire chimney. Jeff charged $2950 for the job and had a man named Carlos come do the work. Carlos missed caulking a section of the J-channel which is leaking into the house now. After another day of rain the original flashing leak is still leaking so I consider this a complete failure. I had already had the inside wall tore open so I can clearly see the leaks. Jeff has stopped returning my calls and texts so he has no intention of making this right. If they don't get it right the first time you're screwed.

I called Schultheis Bros for an estimate. I got there name off of the trans website as an authorized installer. From beginning too end Schultheis Bros where professional and did an amazing job. The sales gal came wrote up an estimate and gave it to us on the spot. Wife and I said ok and about a few days later she came back with lead installer too check over everything too make sure everything was going to be ok for the instal. He decided we did not need as big a but heating int or as big a ac unit as our third floor is not vented. The installers where fast and friendly and did an amazing job. They worked very clean and did not leave any mess at all. I would definetly recommend the Schultheis Bros team for all your heating and cooling needs.
