I tried Negi Indian Cuisine at the Carp Farmer's Market for the the first time today. I got "Today's Lunch Combo" for $19, which included a choice of a meat curry, a choice of a vegetarian curry, rice and two onion pakoras. I paid an extra $1 for naan. I chose the butter chicken and palak paneer for my curry options. The butter chicken tasted good, but it wasn't anything special from other ones I have tried. I quite enjoyed the palak paneer though with its creaminess from the spinach. The onion pakoras were soggy and not crisp. The naan was disappointing and had no flavour in my opinion. I did place my order around 11am and the market had already started for a few hours, so maybe that's why the pakoras were soggy. Overall, I've had better Indian food for that price and was hoping for more for my 20 bucks. I still give this place 3 stars though for the Palak Paneer. Perhaps the actual restaurant is better than the market stall. read more

Had dinner to celebrate a birthday, service was excellent friendly staff prompt and attentive service. We enjoyed veggy samosas, butter chicken, Tandoori chicken, baigan bartha, lamb korma along with plain rice and garlic Naan. The food was excellent seasoned perfectly tasted authentic and brought back fond memories of meals shared at friends homes. They even offered go vary the spice levels according to our preferences. We ate way too much and enjoyed every bite squeezing in room for Gulab jamun was a must! Just writing this I'm already planning on going back for another incredible meal. AMAZING! Simply an amazing dining experience! The fusion of complex favors, artistic presentation and vibrant colors makes the meal seem more like delicously edible artwork! The restaurant has a very cozy appeal that when coupled with the owner Manvendra's smile and warm hospitality makes it feel as if you just walked into a old friends home for dinner. The menu selections are VERY diverse with so many tastes its no doubt surely able to suit most any persons palet with both vegetarian options as well as traditional animal protein based dishes with various meats such as chicken, beef, lamb, goat, fish and shrimp. We had two meals, one a Beef Palek paired with Saffron rice and Cheese Naan bread with Kingfisher beer, other a lamb Palek with a Coconut infused rice and Savory potoato stuffed Naan bread with a Kingfisher beer. The table came with a complimentary papadums which can be described as a crunchy Indian version of what could be best described as something similar tortilla chip but far more savory and tasty. Portion size was very generous with both of our meals and bothbunable to finish our meals. And we are big eaters and big foodies. It's important to note for new comers to Indian cuisine that Indian food is often though as being always blazing hot, but that could not be further from the truth. The Chef has the ability to produce near all dishes including the legendary Vindaloo dish in anything from mild to medium to hot to wild. The heat can be made to suit nearly anyone's spiciness desires weather that be on either extreme end of the spice spectrum. It's also worth noting that the chef and owner Manvendra are more then happy to explain their menu options for newcomers so as to guide you though the menu choices should you not be familiar with the ingredients and or dishes or how to pair the various dishes togther, such as a Vindaloo dish with a seasoned rice dish and Naan bread. Indian food is unlike any other in the world, it has complex flavor profiles that are finely tuned to meld together to create a blend of sweet, savory, tart, spice and textures to create a dinning experience often not found in other more traditional Canadian restaurants. This restaurant, meaning its Owner and Chefs are a hidden Gem in Arnprior. Arnprior residents are extremely lucky to have such big city authentic ethnic quality food practically at there doorstep. The Owner and Chefs efforts and dedication can clearly be seen, experienced and of course smelt and tasted with their superb service and excellently crafted dishes. We highly recommend anyone and everyone give it a try, that is to mean newcomers or experienced Indian food lovers and everyone else in between. Simply put, this restaurant has something for everyone including the entire family both young and old. Don't be shy, give it a try! My friend and I found Negi for lunch based on the few 5 star reviews. It was amazing! If I could give them 6 stars, I would. The lunch plate was amazing. Truly authentic Indian flavors, fluffy naan, delicious lamb vindaloo, fresh salad, and sweet dessert. To top it all, the ambiance was warm, the service was genuine, fast, and friendly. I am from Toronto and have had all the Indian food on offer there and can say without a shadow of a doubt this is better. I have never had a dish I did not like from Negi. The butter chicken is obviously a favourite, all the lamb dishes are spectacular, and the spice level is always to my liking. I simply am at a loss for words when it comes to how good Negi's is. Are we grateful that this restaurant exists! We are new to the area and LOVE the food here! On a busy Friday night, we had onion bhajis, mixed grill, chicken korma and Parantha. All was hot and delicious and came to us quickly. Will make a reservation next time as it got busy. Our food cane out quickly and the servers were delightful and expertly handled the busy dining room. There were LOTS of take out orders happening while the dining room continued to be served food. Six of us went for lunch last Friday at Negi, two of us vegans and the rest carnivores. My husband and I, the vegans in the group, were delighted at the number of choices and the rest in the party had difficulty deciding from the extensive list but we were all happy with our choices and highly impressed by the quality and quantity of food - we all took home food to enjoy the next day. Most of us ordered medium which had a nice heat. The service was also great- attentive and friendly and the atmosphere appealing. We will definitely be making Negi our go-to in Arnprior. read more

Have not had a good curry in years. Went to Negi for lunch and asked for a hot Madras curry. Result was fantastic. Lots of food with hot naan bread. This is a great place and much better than most in Ottawa. read more
