TL;DR/The Short Version: One of the very few Asian…read morerestaurants in Perth, ON. We got takeout. The Pad Ki Mow was tasty. No table service. The Long Version: My husband and I got takeout from The Hot Wok for dinner when we were staying in Perth. All their food is packaged as takeout, but they do have seating where you can eat your takeout food, just no table service. We decided to take the food back to our hotel room instead. We got the Bang Bang Chicken ($18.25) and the Shrimp Pad Ki Mow ($19.50). I called my order in and we walked there to pick it up. I was told it would take about 30 minutes to be ready. (They make everything to order.) We arrived after 30 minutes and our food was ready as promised. The lady on the phone was very courteous and I think she was the same lady at the pickup counter. The Bang Bang Chicken was listed on the menu as "Lightly breaded chicken tossed in a creamy honey sauce, on a bed of greens." It did not mention sesame seeds were sprinkled on top and I forgot to say "no sesame seeds" with my order so I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't really eat this dish, but that was on me. I was able to manage a few bites that didn't have sesame seeds on them (I can handle mild contamination) and I found the meat a bit dry, but the outside was pleasantly crispy and the honey sauce was pleasant. The "bed of greens" was actually raw shredded cabbage and carrots in a creamy sauce. I was asked how spicy I wanted this dish and I said medium, but it wasn't spicy at all, like not even mildly spicy, lol. Don't worry, the food didn't go to waste, as my husband ate it. The dish came with a small serving of steamed white rice. The rice was good, not too mushy nor too dry. The Shrimp Pad Ki Mow was tasty, albeit a tad too oily for me. It had 6 large shrimp, which were all properly deveined. They were plump and juicy. The dish also had broccoli, cauliflower, onions, carrots and Bok Choy. I was happy to see they were very generous with the vegetables. You have the option of having this dish with rice noodles or rice, I chose the noodles since that's what traditional Pad Ki Mow is. However, the noodles used were rather thin, like even thinner than traditional Pad Thai noodles. I like the wider noodles that typically come with Pad Ki Mow (or as I usually know it as, Pad Kee Mao). I was also asked what spice level I wanted this dish and I also said medium, and for this dish, it was a true medium as it had a spicy kick to it. They have their own private parking lot in front of the restaurant that is shared with their next door neighbour Jersey Joe's. Review #42 (2025)

I've been meaning to try it for so long but never really went in for some reason. So glad I did! I stood there staring at the menu for a little while, not being able to decide what to get. I definitely wanted mango salad and could go for some green curry, which I hadn't had in awhile, so that's what I went with, even though I could've easily gotten at least five things on the menu for just myself. The mango salad (A4 - Yum Ma'Muang) had green mango, cashew nuts, shrimp, red and green onions, and grape tomatoes. I thought it was expensive at $12, but thought I'd splurge anyway. It actually ended up being a bigger portion than I expected, so I was happy. The green mango was super fresh and had that nice, firm bite, same with the other ingredients. Just what I was craving! There were also slices of red onion, but I had expected it to have it, so I didn't realize that ingredient wasn't listed on the menu until later. The green curry (G1 - Gaeng Khiao Wan) came with red and green peppers, zucchini, and sweet basil. There wasn't any eggplant like it listed on the menu, but there were green beans, carrots, and broccoli, so I was happy with all of the additional veggies. I chose chicken as my protein, but you can have beef, pork, or tofu for the same price, or shrimp for an extra $2. It was piping hot and really comforting. There was the perfect amount of all of the ingredients, including the curry broth, and the veggies were cooked but firm. YUM! Both dishes definitely had a heavier hand on the fish sauce, but I really enjoyed them and rice toned it down as well. There was only one woman there who cooked my meal and rang me up. She was the absolute sweetest! Extremely kind and had smiling eyes. She was very patient with me while I decided. She suggested one of the lunch specials with green curry and rice (cheaper), but I wanted to go with the pricier one to support the business (and also bigger because I was really hungry haha). I will definitely be back!

You can tell that the team cooks and serves with so much love and passion for what they do. I'm a believer that this helps make the food taste even better ;) From the outside, Chili Thai can be easily missed since it's in a little strip off of St. Joseph with other businesses packed together. There isn't room to really sit and eat there, but there is room to stand to pick up your order. Parking is a bit tight and limited since it's shared with the other businesses, so be patient because this place is definitely worth the wait. Even walking by, you can smell the aromas coming out of this gem and they can make anyone drool! I ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp ($16.95) at a medium spiciness level. It was really tasty but a little too hot for my liking. It was my first time trying medium instead of mild though with this dish, so now I know to go with mild like I usually do. I also got an order of Fresh Spring Rolls with Shrimp and Peanut Sauce ($9.95). The order comes with two rolls. They were also delicious and I absolutely love their peanut sauce. Chili Thai is on the pricier side for Thai take out, but to me it's worth it because you can tell that everything is high quality and the dishes are of good size. I definitely recommend checking them out next time you're in Orleans!

Now I usually come to Khao Yum for their lunch specials and often don't look at the menu. I just order the Pad Thai. Recently I asked Naronge to suggest something different.. OMG am I glad he did. I got the Beef Pad Thai ($13.99) Beef Pad Kee Mao ($13.99), Beef Panang Curry ($14.99), and Chicken Cashew Stir-fry ($13.99). The Pad Thai was a bit too sweet for my tastes, but still good. I like that it wasn't loaded with bean sprouts like at some places. There was a good amount of beef in it. The Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) were delicious. Really spicy too. It had green beans, bamboo shoots, carrots, baby corn, mushrooms and beef. The beef was tender. This dish was much less oily than at most other places, so I really appreciated that. The cashew chicken was good. From the pictures online, I was expecting deep fried breaded chicken, but it was just regular pan-fried chicken without breading. It was tasty, and healthier that way I guess, just different from what I was expecting, but no complaints here. It came with lots of onions, some carrots and bell peppers. This dish is mild, not spicy at all. The Beef Panang Curry was rich and creamy. This is my father's favourite Thai dish and he loved it. He saved the leftover sauce and said he was going to dip bread into it and eat bread soaked in the curry sauce, lol. I enjoyed it too. It was very fragrant. It had beef, bell peppers and peanuts in it. Portions were a good size. Everything was tasty. Takeout containers are plastic and the lids were mildly warped from the heat. The restaurant is takeout and delivery only. There is no space to dine in. It's where Soul Stone Express used to be. It's in the Millennium Park Plaza. Lots of free parking.
